Heya, hows this for an idea for DLC

As you all know, we adore our cars at 0km yes? We love them even more when they have reached the 300km some distance which breaks the engine to it's possible stock peak, and for a good 5k, it be driving at it's peak. Ah, but lo and behold, by the time that 5,001 kilometer hits (more or less), the horsepower progressively starts going down, never to go up ever again....

As far as I am concerned, I have not met a soul that has an actually appreciation for such a feature, perhaps one of the simulated features we could have all truly gone without in our virtual driving escapades.

Though I appreciate Kaz's desire to incorporate as many simulated components within the confines of a video game, which may go hand in hand with Kaz's particular fascinations with the cycle of birth, life, and death (bobs and cars age with use), a shame he can't appreciate the fact that the majority of his clientele that purchased this game have no such appreciation.

Nonetheless, if Polyphony were smart, they ought to take advantage of this situation by offering the following;

The Engine Resurrection Fix!!

For US$5.00 / €3.70 / £3.20 , the mileage of ALL your acquired cars are instantly reset to 0! Not only are they reset to 0, but cars with that have had their horsepower boosted by brokened engines will have said horsepower preserved! In that way, they don't need to be driven again to fetch that extra hp (unless they had less than 300 some km driven).

What say you? Would you spare a bit of coin to restore the complete glory of your entire garage? :sly:

No thanks. I'd just buy the new cars in the game using the pretend money made by my driving and by my Bobs'. Keep getting standard models from the ocd.

I guess i would use in game credits to restore my car to max hp.

I dont apreciate the feature to repair the engine and chasis because no matter what the price of the car its 500,000 credits to repair. I dont want to spend that much on repairs on a car thats 10,000cr to buy. They really need to fix that.

Completely WRONG buy the way.
Its up to 1/3 the cost of the car to rebuild the engine untill the Car Costs 1.5 million then It fixed at 500,000 Cr for every car costing more than 1.5 million, for chassis work its up to 2/3 but that is required less offen,

There are exceptions to every rule as normal..
Like Stealth and chrome line cars that only cost 500Cr to repair. Nascar chassic rebuild is a special price as well. This is to try to force you in to using cheaper cars than the X2010/11 for events.

Using the Suzuki GSX-R/4 Concept '01 on the ring 4 hr endurance races for example only costs you < 100,000cr for both engine and chassis rebuild.

Can you add "I think that's the worst idea ever" to the poll? :p

Seriously though, I think the vast majority of people would find it outrageous.

The lengths to which gamers will go for "perfection" amaze me.

Personally I think stuff like this gives the game, and the cars some character. It's interesting to know that your car does have a kind of life-cycle. I like how much perfectionist gamers cannot deal with it.

Rare paint chips - gamers can't just think "what are my favourite/most used cars, and which would best suit this rare paint". No - that would use up the rare paint and that would be unacceptable. A way must be found to duplicated the rare paints and the rare cars so that they can be used on everything without ever being used. But lots of people do the same, so they lose their rarity and no-one finds them interesting or special.

If I needed the absolute maximum power from a car (for top speed runs), I would just get a new one and run it in.

How about option 3: PD gives us the option to do so with a free update like they always should have and don't even think about turning GT5 into a "pay real money to advance in the game" experience.

No way am I paying real money for something that doesn't add to the game. Sorry.

I think that idea is unnecessary, you might as well earn money in races in the game and engine restore your car that way.

Does having the cars lost HP over time because of usage actually add anything to the game? They should just remove that completely. I don't mind after x miles I need to pay for a rebuild and after x+y I need to fix my chassis, but after z miles my car loses hp forever?!?!

I guess I have to keep buying new versions of that car, which will give me something to spend my money on when I own them all, but does it add any enjoyment at all to anyone's experience?

Cash is not a problem (the virtual kind) I run it up to 20m over and over and can't find a thing to buy. I have all the cars and dupes of many of them. Make me pay $500,000 to repair the body or the engine, I don't care.
Paying real cash for all my cars to go to 0? Dumb idea. Really dumb. 4 facepalms are 96 too few.

I like putting miles on my car so I have no desire in resetting them but an engine rebuild should restore full HP. I really think that the car washing and oil changes need to go away (Way too time consuming). But I don't mind having to rebuild the engine and restoring the chassis when needed since this doesn't need to be done every day.

I personally like racking up miles on my cars and seeing how driving long distances will affect it. It's kind of fun to keep track of. :)

If you want your cars to not gather any mileage or stay below a certain point where the powerloss becomes permanent, why not just restore your gamesave after driving them? Obviously this only works when you drive online or just casual free practice runs, if you want to progress through A and B-spec, gathering (some) mileage is unavoidable.

Having said that, I do think that the permanent loss of power is implemented unnecessary, ofcourse it's realistic for an engine to 'wear out' eventually but having an engine restore option available for the first time (I always assumed that rebuilding an engine would make it as new) should've made this issue irrelevant or non-existent in my opinion.
Why else add such a function if it only seemingly does an half-arsed job? Or am I missing something?
As for paying for your cars to remain at zero mileage, that's just plain stupid.

To the OP, no I wouldn't pay to have that, it's a bit extreme because after all it's only a game, and where's the fun if it's too easy?

Well how come on my Ferrari Enzo that i use for grinding on the Sarthe - it costs 500,000Cr? The car itself is 1,000,000Cr, so your 1/3 of the price theory doesn't work..

I love the idea, except for the cash part, there should be free and paid for DLC, and this would come under a new feature for all, it should cost... 150% of the original value of the car (in game credits of course), and yes, reset the kms as well as the engine... basically just buy a new engine.

When you spend 1,000,000 credits rebuilding a deteriorating car, then the engine should set to 0.... or at the very least have it recorded in the game when you rebuilt.

But pay real money for that....???!!!

If it'll cost 150% of the original value, why not just buy a new one?

This would make sense if it were a car from the UCD though...

I agree, the rebuild should reset your car's HP to stock. You should then need to run it in again to achieve optimum power. There should be a service book too, so you can see when your last rebuild was.

I too like putting miles on my cars. I like that each car's power is slightly variable depending on how you care for it. You never lose so much that it becomes useless, just "well worn".

So yes, I am one of those people who thinks it does add something to the game.
