Could this mean that ALL cars will be allowed on dirt tracks?

erm? where did u see a dodge on a dirt course???? pics maybe? sumthing? a link? cuz that really sucked where left all puzzled here

Well in GT : P, you can race the Dodge Viper on the Grand Canyon Rally track.

In GT:P however, you cannot race all cars on the dirt track. Infact about 1/3 don't seem to be allowed to do so. But yeah pretty funny using the Viper as a rally car :D

Theres a vid of it somewhere, IGN I think, wherever it is it's a free download.

Nobody has said that there was a dodge viper on GT4:Prologue, and if there is which one, Old or New model?

Plus why would PD let you race viper on Grand Canyon. :trouble:

In GT4P, theres the Viper GTS from GT3 (the old model) and as suprising as it is, you can rally it.

It's not as bad as you would imagine, your still better off with something 4wd though.

Hmm... does it look like the Viper that morphs with monster truck tires like in the TV show VIPER?! I really miss that show :(

edit: It was like a modern day Knightrider without the cheezyness.

Don't forget that the Mustang in GT3 was rallied.

Yes, and a fully tuned Mini can beat a stock SVT. Well, in my case, but you really shouldn't go by my account. I admit, I'm not great at the rally races. Maybe I should try turning on the traction control...nah, that's cheating.

I usually race the Tahiti Maze, and I haven't won a race yet with either of the cars mentioned above.

I wonder what "normal" cars you can race on a rally course? Is there a list somewhere? I think I'll do a search for it...nah...

BTW, no Viper is allowed to race in the dirt rally courses in GT3. I just tried. I wonder why PD let you, in GT4p?

A fully tuned Mini is very quick on dirt, but that Mustang is great fun with rear drive and that V8.

I have with the Mini.

Hmmm I remember the first time I tried the GC with the S2000 lol, lets just say I was crap

That's odd that you can rally with a Viper. I remember in GT2, you could rally with the GT40, and that is mid-engine, rear-wheel drive.

A few older rally cars were mid-rear, like the Lancia Stratos.

it seems you can rally any rwd or awd car. it does not let you rally fwd cars though.

That's pretty stupid considering the majority of Rally cars are FWD....

I'd like to see proof of this Viper rallying.

It's in GT4P, next time you get a chnace to play it, try the Grand canyon and select the Viper, or seach high and low on this site for a video of it.

Well there's this...

Nope, FWD = Front Wheel Drive.
The majority of rally cars = 4WD.

Having said that, there were several FWD rally cars around a few years ago. Citroen used to do the tarmac stages in them, and they won quite often.

well rally in GT4P is REALLY better then in GT3,but its hard unlike gt3,i became good only after 10 laps

Could you elaborate more why rally racing is better in GT4p, and more hard, please?

Rally racing in GT2 was super easy. It was much harder in GT3 because I had a hard time feeling the tire spin. I didn't know when the tire was loosing traction. Allowing the rpm tach to speed up would have been a great idea. But I didn't see this happening well enough.

If I did notice tire spin, I would ease up on the accelerator too much, thus reducing a good time.

I hope the rally racing in GT4 is better than GT3.

I haven't played it, but I heard that the Nissan Skyline could be raced in Rallisport Challenge (too bad it isn't for PS2). In fact, I seen these before:

A stock car version of the Ford Mustang raced Pikes Peak.

The Camaro can be rallied.

But I seen the Viper more as a road racer. And no team did it to perfection than the Team Oreca Viper. And in the ALMS, I loved watching the Viper vs. Corvette rivalry. What rivalry would this be like in college... let's see... Duke and UNC in college basketball, maybe. Army and Navy in college football, perhaps? Either way, if the Viper can be rallied, more power to it. It's front-heavy characteristics may make it a big tough to throw around. And don't forget. The Skyline is also available in front-rear.

in GT concept you can rally a R34 Skyline

You can rally a R34(also a AE86) in GT3 now I thought? Also, Rallying a R34 or Viper seems like if you took a raised up Truck and went street racing with it? :odd:

Nope, if you take all the rally cars racing, there are far more FWD rally cars used in recent years, the only 4wd ones that are really known about are the EVO, Impretza, Focus, 206, and the Skoda. There are literally hundereds of FWD rally cars that compete in the variouse rally cups.

You know what I thought of? I think the most successful non-Front/4WD or non-front/front car was the Lancia Stratos. I think the car was light enough to be rallied like crazy all over the world, and not to mention winning the rally championship in the 70s for three years straight.

And I think even if Mopar wanted to make a Viper rally car (at the most), I don't think it could stand up to the world-recognized ugly car maker of Lancia in rear-wheel drive prowess.

Tbh I was a bit dissapointed with the rallying in GT : P, imo it isn't that much better than GT3/GTC's. Still along way short of proper rally games still its a nice excuse to have Rally cars in GT4. :)
