The most funny looking car I have seen at the grand canyon (and have driven) is the Ford GT. That thing is sooo hard to handle. I was shocked it was allowed out there. Well at least in GT4P it was. I even had several screenshots of jumping the Ford GT at Grand Canyon.
GT40s were used in rallying in the late 60's - mostly tarmac rallys. They usually clear-up in the 'classic' road rallys that they hold all over the world.
I confirm! In the sixties the GT40 was used in France as a rally Car in the "Tour Auto". Other prototypes also were used in that Tarmac rally in the 70's: Ferrari 512, Matra Le Mans Prototypes, etc.
Actually, the reglementation limits power for WRC rally-cars to about 300hp, what forbids such cars in rallys.
Another historical comment: before the 80's 4WD was forbidden in rallys: I believe it was Audi who asked them to change the rules and introduced it. By that time nobody else believed it could work! It's the same kind of story as that of the midengined F1 cars of Cooper in the end of the 50's: nobody believed it could work and 5 years later everybody applied it!
