I've got a few tips for people who are struggling like i was a few days ago, I finally understand what the common errors are.
First of all, CONTROL. When you start a drift never ever hold onto the accelerator and never ever let go of it the whole time. What I tend to is lightly tap the x button and when I over do it I let the car slide on its own.
Sometimes even going down a gear for a few seconds will help.
You have to find the balance of the car you're using, once you understand the limits and the minimals you should be doing much better and can even get a perfect run of some tracks.
Second, dont fiddle too much with the settings if you don't know what you're exactly doing. In my old setup I tweaked everything in some way. Once I took the suspension and some other stuff to the default setting the car could maintain a drift much better and the handling felt great.
Third, dont over do it. If your instincts tell you that you have accelerated too much then brake and go down a gear or two. If you keep bailing out you will not learn the balance of the car. Also if your drifting with people you can get in the way if you go out of control.
Fourth, lower the BHP. The car will be able to be controlled better when your BHP is lowered a little. Im not saying all fast cars can't drift correctly it's just more difficult to drift a fast car if you're a beginner.
And finally, practice makes perfect. You're not going to be able to drift in a few days. I barely anywhere near perfect but I do know the technique and the balance of my car so all I have to do is practice and maybe try some new cars. Dont give up! Also dont blame your controller or steering wheel for not being able to drift, it takes a while.
Good luck guys¬
