A History of Violence

My good friend worked on this movie, as it was shot here in Toronto. I was invited to the cast & crew screening, and had the pleasure to meet Mr. Cronenberg (Viggo wasn't there). The movie is quite good, and extremely violent. In fact, what you will see in theatres will be an edited version (still quite graphic and bloody), and the DVD should (hopefully) have the unrated cut. However, I feel the movie is being improperly advertised and marketed. The poster and the tagline are misleading. It's not really about heroics and the like, but rather a study of a sort of antihero with Viggo's character. But still an excellent film. And Canadian to boot!!

I just saw a commercial for this film. Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Mario Bello. Interesting cast. I've always liked Ed Harris for his old schoolness. I don't think I've ever seen a work of Cronenberg, but this one should be pretty good. :)

Edit: Holy crap! I said Mario Bello and nobody said anything. It's Maria Bello!

I just came back from watching it. I enjoyed it a lot, but I don't want to say anything more about it as the less you know of plot, the better it will be. Go see it!

I rented it, as it's out on DVD now. I thought it was really good. Ed Harris did not dissapoint, Maria Bello certainly didn't. :p

Beginning was unbearably slow, but I think it was supposed to be(without giving away too much). Action in this movie is so much better than the typical "Hollywood" action movies. 👍 Way the bad guys gets beat up, or shot were just awesome. I expected little bit more from the plot, maybe bit more from the end or climax as well, but I thought it was still above average.

As for the DVD, it has an excellent documentary feature. I highly recommend renting this movie on DVD. I'd give it a "B".

I haven't seen the theatrical release, only the version that was screened for the cast and crew before it got a wide release. I wonder if the blood and gore was all kept in the movie, along with the fairly graphic nudity...

it was pretty good :p. yeah it seemed pretty graphic so i doubt they cut out much :p. There were a 2 times where i thought maybe i downloaded a porn by accident :p
