If you guys dont like the rule change we can forget it was posted and go back to the original rules ... I only put this forward to take away the after T2 bend problems that can and will arise

whats the thoughts overall ??

I dont like it, too much of a gray area in that rule.

Leave It !!! 👍
:D Even though I haven't yet tried it. That "Chicane" is "Between gears" for me, "Lugs" in 4th & "Over-revs" in 3rd so I'm sure I'll like it better w/o 2 extra shifts. 👍 Besides, we've still got a coupla days to "Adapt."...UB57 :D

I second the motion! Leave the rule change as is, it makes sense.

Oh, yeah...

T2 - 46.3xx best

*sigh*

....rikki

i along with every other poster with the exception of T13R, agree with the spirit and fun of the rule in that this IS a rally car and should be able to get in the dirt.

@T13R there is no grey area it's very simple: if at any time there is ANY green between the road and more than two of your wheels, it's no good. simple, easy, no grey area whatsoever.

now if there is another problem that's a horse of a different color. i think the rule is fun and in keeping with the spirit of rally.

Please do understand I don't want to polemize, be seen as psycho-rigid or bad arse but I don't accept seeing the rules changing halfway through race, especially if it is to go off track. This kills all my motivation for this week's race so I stop racing it - too bad, this combo was really good fun - (but the other combos might be just great too ) My best time to date / car model will be submitted today (with max 2 wheels in dirt). Sorry for my excellent racing teammate Arwin as it will not compare well with other times - especially off-track times - will try to do my best on the next races

Thats also how I think of it.

Just because its a rally car, doesnt mean a tarmac event has to allow it going in the dirt. And I believe everyone will be running T8 tires/tyres (blah :P ) which are for tarmac ( meaning no dirt ). Wanna offroad? Put dirt tires on. I'll stick with T8's and abide by normal OLR rules.

For the record ... this would be the only round where the possible ON or OFF scenario could occur through the competition, there are 4 Rally courses and a full tar wet stage after this round...

... just try and keep the turn after T2 as clean as you can is all i'm asking.

I tried to make it easier for some drivers considering its a 3 lap race and the turn at T2 could wreck many a good race for a driver who cant fully master that section.

I'm not out to rock the boat or upset anyone :O

Good luck in your racing to all 👍

I don't wanna keep arguing about this, but I believe we are all respectable OLR racers here, and are capable of providing a clean run at all times, even if it might be slower because of having to slow down more in a section where you have problems ( right after T2 on DF2 let's say ). Taking TORC 11 - Race 4 as an example, not a single penalty was handed out during that race. Three laps of DF2 with RGT. Very similar scenario to what we have now.

I simply don't see any reason for wanting to implement the rule.

"as clean as you can"?

that's no good mr. admin.

in light of the mixed result of the proposed rule, i move we go back to the usual unwavering, ridgid, robot rules that are always in place and can never be altered. as usual, we will have to settle for everybody being equally unhappy. the GT3 rules are written in stone and poo-poo on you mr. admin for daring to try and let us have a little fun here.....poo-poo on you indeed :grumpy:

it's alright ron, i know you meant well. but you know the GT3 racer. would'nt be him if he did'nt have SOMETHING to b*tch about

OK fine, I'll stop opposing it. If you wanna have "fun", how about allowing to cut through everything, not only dirt ( including first curve ). If everyone "cheats" then its fair :) Just no wall hits.

this is why the rule must stay as is written in the gospel. 100% aherance. 2 wheels on the track at all times.

that way we can save the "fun" for elswhere. we would'nt want anybody "cheating". and frankly, after years of posting on on forums, i don't want to see anymore "quotation marks around words that don't really require them and are being used only in a sarcastic fashion". nor do i wish to see anymore pretentious smiley faces being used as masks for sarcasm. mr admin, please change the rule back before there is any more of this. thanks mr. admin, we all love you.

Ok guys full rules back on then 👍 2 wheels on the track at all times and no wall contacts

Good luck :)

now all I need is someone to come in and give me grief saying that after my original rule change post .... they have overwritten their clean best save with a dirty run because of me :O

:D

I too don't like rules changing in mid race, but T13R's idea is kind of interesting. Dirt, grass or pavement is OK but no wall hits. It is a Rally car afterall. I've never tried doing that. Could make that last right turn very interesting as would the replays.

Sounds like another quote of the week!

Umm sorry if that came out as sarcasm, but I was serious when I typed that up and still am. The smiley is there because I think I would really have a blast if I would be allowed to cut through everything for once. Think about it, it's never been done really (always against the rules), and since this is a rally race, why not? And if everyone does it, then it is NOT cheating. I absolutely agree this would be fun. ONCE AGAIN, NO FRIGGIN SARCASM HERE.

I'm glad to see GT3Mich didn't take my idea sarcastically... unlike some other people who immediately fume over a little rule which could ruin their "fun" :p

I find your idea intriguing. I would go for that change but not the one originally posted by Mr P.

too many people with different opinions .... best leave it as is :)

laters

Finally got some time for this race...

After a good half hour to setup the car and put some laps in, I got a T2 of 45.1 (with the original rules from the beginning). I'm hoping to get that into the 44 range soon.

Sheesh! Ya make a smart a$$ comment, leave for three hours and then come back and check out the mess ya made:D

As for this shortcut... We aren't really saying I just spent 75 laps trying to break the bad habit I had of leaving the tarmac slightly at this juncture and now it's okay to sin here? Are we?:trouble:

That is what this was you know Mr. P... just me bein' lippy and twisting things around for no other reason than bein' lippy and twisting things around and thinkin' I'm bein' funny... Truth be told, I'ld have to run those 75 laps (dirty or clean) just to get to a point of maybe keeping up...

Earlier, in my post 31, I really meant no other thing than a simple observation. Until OLR, I hadn't ever thought about cutting that particular corner (off track). With running these races as a "newbe", I hadn't realized I was going off course there until I was scrutinizing the replay for rule infractions. Then I went on about it because I couldn't believe how hard the "old habit" was to break... again, nothing really more than an observation I thought others could relate with.

I really would hate to think I started all this...

I actually happen to think three things...

1) This is your race and you are the administrator (read that: doing all the work.) I think you are doing a great job. I appreciate the effort at trying to make it more fun/accomodating and whatever those rules are... let us know and we go with them.

However, I reserve the right to continue being a dork about it...
Along with that, I also reserve the right for anyone else to ignore me...

2) I'm havin' fun...

3) This is playstation... GT3... there are starving people in the world...

Greg

Ron, you really didn't have to do all that just for me I'll re-run it :banghead:

:p Yes this is a joke, it had nothing to do with me and the fact I have a unclean save :D He was simply trying to help by relaxing the strict OLR rules a little ;)

And the crowd all yelled as I went flashing by:

UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN!

My only recourse was to hide in the tunnel... cowering where none could see me until well into the night... wishing... wishing I could get beyond the walls, beyond the track, out of the reach of the resounding echo in my head... unclean... unclean...

looks like another completely unessesary quotation and another sarcastic smiley to me. why don't you try to bull**** everybody again and explain how this post was'nt sarcastic either.

Well, not much ghost town over this thread anymore. ;)

I've been looking forward to doing the ARC#2, and would follow any rules that our administrator throw at us. It's all part of the fun not exactly knowing, what to come.

With that being said, I'm personally glad MrP changed it back again. After several hundreds of laps following the original rules, it was very difficult for me to adapt to the new ones. It properly wouldn't have made any difference for me in the results for this week, but it's so much nicer to make a submission you satisfied with, than one you know, should have been better.

Also your properly save my teammate for a minor heart attack, when he is back on-line Monday morning.

I think the view count on the thread jumped like a 100+ overnight.

Nothing like a bit of contention to get the juices going... We humans are such creatures aren't we?
