...you can not only add weight you can move it about ... to improve the feel of the car.

Sounds like a pretty cool feature. Maybe removing weight from your car (using the equivalent of GT3's Lightweight Stages in GT4) and then ADDING weight where you actually want it could improve the car handling and make it more suitable to your style of driving. Maybe this time around driving a FF will actually be "possible"... :D by putting some extra weight on the front end of the car, the front tires will be pushing down with an added force and you will have more tractiong during acceleration (when, due to moments and inertia, your car wants to rotate about its center of gravity and by doing so puts more pressure on the rear tires and less pressure on the front tires).

I know this is the wrong thread, but could you elaborate with a little more detail about how you can distribute the weight/what amount you can choose? Like, if there is a slider (similar for the power distribution on a 4WD) to where you can set the percentage of weight in the front versus the percentage of the weight in the back of the vehicle, or is it more detailed/gives you more options?

The Wizard.

Sure the weight goes from 0 <--->200 and you can change the position much the same as the VCD meter from front to middle to back or the other way around. Can't remember the actual increments for the distribution, I’ll have a look and get back to you. Oh! and if it helps you get more A-Spec points, it is on topic, and this is sort of what the thread is about!

Update.

Had a look at the display for the weight it looks like this;

0<-------->200
-50<---0--->50

Top for amount and bottom for 0 centre, -50 to the front and 50 to the back, don't know if -50 is all 200 to the front and none to the back or what, but I think it's all to the front and centre? Not sure, can't understand a word of the text, but that's what it feels like when you try it, and you can feel the difference of 200 kgs on the car, it feels like a fat pig with it???

LOL! :D
Well, thank you for the prompt reply. If I can elaborate on the -50/0/+50, I would say 0 would mean placing the weight on the dead center of the car, while -50 and +50 would be placing the weight at the extrema of the car (either ALL the way to the front or ALL the way to the back). Can't say for sure though, as I don't have the game, yet.

EDIT: 200 Kg corresponds to, after all, ~440 pounds!*

The Wizard.

*Note that "corresponds to" is in italic. I know the distinction between Kg (a measure of MASS) and pounds (a measure of FORCE) - this is just a disclaimer to avoid posts like: "Oh he is such a/an [insert random insult here], he doesn't even know the difference between mass and force!"

Even more great news! Not only can you add extra weight, but you can decide where to place it? Too cool.

sorry I didn't go through all the pages in this thread,so if this was already stated,then please excuse me. I have used B-Spec about..er...twice so far,so not many points at all. But I have used A-Spec TONS of times. It seems to me that everytime I get more A-Spec points,you can unlock new cars in the Used Cars 90's A,so..if that's the case,then would that mean you would need more B-Spec points to get a new selection of cars in Used Cars 90's B? *shrugs* Just thought I'd point that out ^.^

From what I know from reading other threads/posts what unlocks new cars in the "Used Cars" sections is simply the passing of the in-game days. Don't quote me on this 100%, but I am 99.9% sure :sly:

In other words, as the days pass inside the game, new cars show up in the "Used Cars" sections.

The Wizard.

I know new cars show up in the Old Timer section with passing of days,but as far as the actual "USED CARS" A and B sections go...hmmmm.. don't believe so ._. . I mean..I think this requires you to obtain A and B-Spec points. Because you can check 90's A or B after checking Old Timer and there won't be any new cars. There may be a different selection,but I'm talking about when they get "new stock" in. Ah,well..that's what I've noticed in my game anyways >_>;

Ah ok, my bad, we ended up talking about two different things. I should really shut up, at least until I own my personal copy of GT4 and I can back my assumptions/statements up with it.

Didn't mean to spread not completely valid information.

wha?! Ahhhhh,no no no! I didn't mean for offense to you O.O;...ack x_x...er..sorry sorry >_>! Don't be mad at me,ne Wizard-san? *bows lightly,then runs off*

I am not mad at anybody, nor was I trying to be mean/sarcastic... I guess I should have put some smilies to let you know that I wasn't in a bad mood at all. I was just saying that since I don't have the game yet, I don't really have a way to check if what I am posting is correct or not, and I really don't like misguiding people and giving "wrong" information... I was only stating what I read around here in the GT4 post, about new cars becoming available after a certain amount of days. I wasn't aware of new cars unlocking with a certain amount of points.

Your post was quite funny though, nobody ever called me Wizard-san :D lol!

EDIT: Oh yeah, no offense taken 👍

Is it just my impression or does it seem like you are scared of me? :) Do I look/talk/give the impression to be THAT mean? :cool: LOL! :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, good night to you too. I hope I am not going to give you nightmares tonight, lol! :D

It has got to be somewhere in the 200 page booklet or the rolling info strips in the game what is the use of A-spec and B-spec points... all this speculation is crazy...

Can anyone read japanese. please?

As far as I know El_Torero the manual is being translated on another thread and there isn't a mention of the A-Spec points yet.

Personally I think it's something we will have to work out ourselves, it's the type of thing PD/KY has left us guessing about before, until one of those lovely walkthrough writers crack the problem and lets us all know we will have to make up our own minds.

Days pass while you are racing and points are won while you are racing, so personally not being able to read Japanese I am still unsure about just what changes the cars in the used/oldtimers lots in GT4 but as it's always been the passing of days in the older (GT/GT2/GT3) games I'm assuming it is the same in GT4 until I hear otherwise.

My lightly-tuned Subaru WRX bug-eyed wagon handily beat whatever the game was putting up against me in the second Tsukuba wet track; I ran the race three times for some easy cash and got 72 points, then 200 points for the last two runs because the cars I ran against supposedly got better (two non-race supercars).

It can't be that hard to get 200 points, with the rubbish GT AI and all.

i dont have time to read everything in here, but i have a question. there are 1 point races out there that i win, and if i take a car that has less hp and weighs more, will i get more points if i do it again?

Nice two month bump.

Anyway, If you win the race with 1 A-spec point, you CAN drop some of the power or whatever to win more A-spec points. However, if you received, lets say 10 a-spec and you take the race over and win with 40 a-spec points, you'll only be rewarded the difference. It doesn't continuously add up. So basically, 40-10= 30 total a-spec points for that race.

alright, thanks. also, if the points are really high with the car that i have (like the camaro lm in the final race of professional hall), does that mean there is little chance of me winning?

I know this is a bit off topic but did any of you take the time to read that review?
I did and I can tellyou it's the most hypocritical crock of **** i've ever read

A-spec points... will anyone but the makers of GT4 ever understand??
My few points

--Adding a wing to the car seems to knock points off. Havent done a full scientific test, but i find sticking it on drops the points quite a bit

--There is no difference in points between S1/2/3 tyres, but there seems to be a difference between N/S/R tyres...

-- More A-spec points DOES NOT necessarily mean you are a better driver.
1) Using a very powerful, heavy vehicle (Dodge Ram) gets big points without trying - no driver skill needed
2) At completion, the A-spec points you have are irrelevant. Because good driver or bad - your choices in what car to use have determined the A-spec points. A good driver may decide never to test his/her skills, and end up with less points than a bad driver who's put the effort in to drive lesser cars. Obviously a bad driver will not be able to match the good driver if they made the same choice of car/set-up for each race.
Am I a bad driver because I choose not to drive a Daihatsu midget in the Sunday Cup? No - I dont because I still want to win the race. You could be better than God at GT4, but you wont get that Midget around quicker than the other cars. I have tried in some races, not in others - it depends. I find FF cars a nightmare, and also that races with wide-spectrums of HP are hard even with few A-spec points (e.g. Mini races, Merc Silver Arrow at the 'ring). the A-spec points does seem to reference your car to the quickest AI car; less power/weight=more points as far as i can see. But often that doesnt translate to a level of difficulty. I had GT4 a couple of days, and nearly got 200pts in a stock Lupo for Beginner FF. If i go back with a mod or two, i should get those easily.

A-spec will always be a mystery...
