I'm sorry if you don't agree with me guys, but i've been looking at these threads for the past few days and i genuinely felt really bad for him, and hoped he was okay. But to lie about something like that and delibarately decieve everyone, it's just totally wrong and in my opinion he in no way deserves a second chance. It's made me feel quite sick to be honest.

To me, this sounds like a lie in and of itself. How fragile a person are you that you feel physically ill because someone you've never met lied in an online forum? Hell, I've had people I thought were my friends lie to my face, and I never blinked an eye. Give me a break.

EVERYBODY deserves a second chance. And a third, and a fourth if they need it. Are we humans or members of an unforgiving barbarian horde?

(Sorry for the double-post.)

Fine, a second chance, no problem. Just don't expect any pity from me if an SRT-4 accidently crashes into his short bus one morning.

I do! I feel cheated!

Actually, I do a little too because when I first saw his thread thought it was genuine and so I was going to finish his Blazer drawing to cheer him up but to find out it's a lie (if it is) is really dissapointing because there is no reason for lying.

Well, whether or not he lied, any kind words said to him in public or private were meant to make him feel better. I hope he got something out of the communities response. I know I found it encouraging to see that many people coming together to support a fellow member.

I'd just like to add that they used a laptop...

... IP's belong to the computer, not net connection, making the IP the same. (Am I right?)

No, IP Address' belong to the network and are assigned by the DHCP server in dynamic IP addressing, in static IP addressing, the IP address assigned has to be the same subnet of the network that it is residing on. MAC address' belong to the computer, or more specifically the Network Interface Card (NIC).

Ok, maybe i was a bit harsh but it just annoys me that people genuinely did feel sorry for him (including me) and he just lied to us. Maybe the 'feeling sick' part was going a bit to far but i just don't think its a very nice thing to lie about. Sorry if i angered you prime

I'm all for giving the guy a second chance, but these are kind of things who can harm an online community in the long run. While a game forum isn't, and shouldn't be such a serious thing in our lives, many of us spend a great deal of time here, and each time someone pulls something like that it becomes harder to trust anything that anyone says about themselves. Great atmosphere...And in that case, as opposed to the usual "I own / drove car X" lies, I was genuinely worried for him. 👎

This site has grown from ressource on a video game to a community that is much more than that, this is what made me stay once I had found the info on GT3 I was looking for. Now if filtering made-up BS takes a bigger part of it, I don't see the fun in that and I think I'll just move on to something else.

Now I'm wondering if Duke is a Janitor, M-Spec drives a Pinto and Famine is a 12 year old whiz. :grumpy:

Carl.

He's not?:boggled: :dopey:

Honestly, I've seen so many of these damn stupid lies over the years I don't even blink an eyelid when someone is found to be lying. Lying should be restricted to the Jokes threads, tongue-in-cheek comments, and picking up women at a bar (sure I own a Viper, but it's in the shop right now...)

I will always give these people a second chance, but I feel sorry for anyone who feels they need to lie to get attention. Get out in to the real world and make some friends, then you'll know what real attention can be like.

Blazin lied about the accident? Someone explain?

Blazin lied about the accident? Someone explain?

dude, go over th threads... it's become a long story. The IP from which he supposedly wrote from the hospital is the same as his IP at home and is the same as his "brother"'s IP. When confronted he got all mad and left.

Other than that, his stories had many holes and he couldn't explain himself.

As for myself, I'd probably let him come back, although I doubt I'll ever take him seriously again. No matter what kind of a second chance you give him, you'll always be wondering if in fact he telling the truth about something or laughing his ass off at how you believe it. Since the net is such an impersonal place where you can't really trust someone, it only makes it harder to re-trust someone who has been proven many times to be a liar.

Blazin' come back if you want... if you don't, do as you please.

donbenni
I'd still like to know what's going on, but also think that it'd be nice to hear his side of the story. Whatever the conclusion i'd like to see him shipped off the 'Internet Circus'.

Just to summarise, for the people who feel that they've missed out.

  • 29th April, 2002 - BlazinXtreme joins GTPlanet, as "streetracer780".
  • 29th April, 2002 - streetracer780 makes his bow with an insightful thread about Mitsubishi Lancers.
  • 1st May, 2002 - streetracer780 shocks the world with news that he drives a 1997 Honda Civic. Since, according to his journal, he turned 18 in May 2005, this would make him a 14/15 year old at that time.
  • 1st May, 2002 - The first of many Vette vs. Viper comparisons. How times have changed!
  • 2nd May, 2002 - Mistake #1. streetracer780 admits to being *shocked gasp* a street racer (remembering that, according to his journal, he's still 14/15 and has a 1997 Civic)

streetracer780
Street racing is about the thrill of going fast. Its about the respect you get from others about your car. I dont care if you people hate it cause its my car and my life. I'll race till i die.

  • 4th May, 2002 - streetracer780 tells everyone he went to Skip Barbara's (sic) race school. Remember still, he's 14/15 years old and this course costs, currently, $2,200.
  • 15th May, 2002 - streetracer780 says he's quit street racing. Though it would appear he's still very much alive, despite earlier indications of a living/racing correlation.
  • "Sometime in autumn", 2002 - Changes Civic for Eclipse... Still aged 15 (according to his journal)

*skips 2 years*

  • 5th January, 2005 - Now named BlazinXtreme, comments that he "dislikes Japanese cars" (despite having claimed to own three of them now) and that Chevrolet would never build a supercar. You'd imagine that someone who claimed to work for GM since 2004 would be aware of the Z06, which he always refers to as a supercar, being in development during this time, especially given the fact that he quoted an article from the 22/12/2003 AutoWeek about one a year previously.

*skips a year*

  • 28th January, 2006 - Someone claiming to be his brother posts that he was involved in a serious road accident, caused by two people street-racing that night and was in hospital. BlazinXtreme later posts that his knee is busted to the point of needing a replacement joint, his "arm isn't broken, just fractured" (still laughing at that one) and three of his ribs are broken.
  • 1st February, 2006 - Small_fryz asks, quite legitimately, how on Earth he manages to walk with crutches with a broken arm and ribs and why his accident - claimed to involve a roll-over and one person being paralysed - did not make even the local press, despite 4 others being featured.
  • 2nd February, 2006 - PunkRock points out that, despite the now-called-BionicXtreme's (in reference to his "busted knee" from the "accident") claims of posting from the hospital, his messages, and his "brother"'s all share an IP address with his previous posts.
  • 4th February, 2006 - In Small_fryz's thread, Max Powers points out that there was no mention of the accident in BionicXtreme's journal for the day in question. Though there is mention of street racing, which he claimed to have given up 4 years ago.

And that brings us up to the present day.

No inferences about the truth/fiction status of BionicXtreme's stories should be drawn from this post. I have merely summarised his career on this site.

Famine always full of insightful snippets of information to clear up any type of doubt one may have forever and ever :D

Actually it was PunkRock in this post.

I just don't know who to trust anymore....

I just don't understand why you care so much. I don't like the guy one bit, but so what? This is why you shouldn't take people so seriously on the internet.

   Damn, some funny stuff in the past posts...ah well ok

Second chance ? Well it's fine for me, but :

Lying about a car accident is not like saying : "hey i have a 300 dollar watch" although you don't have one. But that's not even the point.

He lied for years
( well obviously I'm passive reader for maybe 13 months, so my view is kind of small, but still... ).

His age is wrong.

He doesn't have the girlfriend he knows for years, he isn't enganged to her.

He doesn't work for GM etc etc...

One lie is ok, second chance and what not, but he put lie after lie after lie.

You know, I understand that when you say in the beginning that you are 18 years old, you cannot just say 2 years later : ah well, actually I'm two years younger.
But he didn't stop.
He invented story after story - not that I think that every word of him was a lie, but since he lied about working for GM, all his exclusive infos etc is wrong.... while he told us a story about car "insert random car here" and his boss x and his girlfriend y with the 3500 $ diamond ring Z, he was sitting in school being 2 years younger having no girlfriend ( or at least another one) and nor ring etc.

And as he told us about the Civic he owned and that he now knows that street racing is a bad thing he forgot to tell us that he never owned a Civic because he was like 14 years old at that time and that he still likes street racing. ( just read or fly over his whole blog as I did )

You know, when I start with a lie I can stop telling new lies. But he obviously didn't.
No, what he did, was telling us one of the worst possible : claiming that he had a danerous car accident and then his "brother" also appeared.

I agree with many of you, that he maybe just wanted to feel good etc but there comes a point - and we have reached it imo - where it is just too much.

If you ask me, he has wasted 20 chances already. With every lie he told us.

EDIT : I just found out that while I was writing Famine already posted the facts :)

Great post Famine (that must have taken a while!).

I would just like to point out that Doug (M5Power), is now posting again. From what I have seen, no one has questioned him. He has so far been accepted. We should all do the same for Blazin.

Don't get me wrong. What he did was terrible, and if he comes back without having changed, and continuing to decieve us, then I can't wait to see the back of him.

But he deserves the chance.

What he did was terrible

Lying on an internet message board is terrible? Way to over exaggerate.

Wow...he seems to have lied a lot more than I thought too. I probably will have no problem with letting him come back, but it'll have to be a while before I take anything he say seriously again.

EDIT: Apart from that, I see no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to come back. Face it, a lot of people lies on the internet, to one degree or another.

Famine
And that brings us up to the present day.

Sweet mother of privacy concerns... Whether you're a friggin bot or not I almost wanna avoid the internet altogether after that summary. :scared:
