After reviewing the cars, pictures, and specially the list of cars, dear mother, that stash is absolutely incredible. Many of those look like really far gone, but most are so freaking rare that it doesn't matter, they will be rescued sooner than later. 3 Avions Voisins for God's sake! Incredible!

Check out this view from above!
Apologies for the "shaky" pics :indiff:

But hey, there's like, 3 sets of abandoned cars in a single row!

Awesome. I can't quite make out the covered cars, I think the convertible is a 1962-64 Impala or Biscayne; as for the "not a Topolino", it could be an Opel, but I'm really bad at european cars of the era ):

Still, amazing place! Haven't you been able to find more information about the stash?

I agree with cano on the convertible... the "eldorado" obviously would be a caddilac eldorado... mid 60s I'd guess...
from the corner of the black car beside the toyota I'd say late 60s/early Impala

The french barn find video is eery, melancholy. Apparently, exactly 100 cars were found on the property. 60 are going to auction with an estimated combined value in the tens of millions (Euros). The find has been described as the most important barn discovery of all time. From WCF:

This could actually be the most important barn find ever as besides the limited California Spider (only 37 units made), there's also a 1956 Maserati A6G Gran Sport Frua and a Bugatti 57 Ventoux. 60 cars out of a total of 100 are going to be auctioned in February by Artcurial during the Retromobile Salon and according to auctioneers the Ferrari will fetch up to €12 million whereas the Maserati should go for €1.2 million.

The cars belonged to Roger Baillon, a French transport magnate who started assembling the collection in the 50s but two decades later his business began to have problems so he had to sell about 50 cars and didn't have money to restore the other 100 vehicles that were find three months ago rusting away on a French estate. Artcurial believes only 60 of them are still salvageable and these have an estimated combined value of €12-15 million.

From what I read in Artcurial's official PDF press release, there were only 60 cars in the property, and all of them will be shown and auctioned off at Retromobile. And indeed, this could be the biggest and most important barn find ever. Only other one I remember being that significative are the world-famous "sleeping beauties", but there weren't as many cars in that one -altough most of them were quite rare, if I remember correctly there were like 7 or 8 Bugattis there- and the Schlumpf collection, but that wasn't a barn find per sé as the collection was well known and was never "lost". There have been several more big barn finds, but I can't remember others with such level of cars.

An RS200 in Indonesia!?

I wonder if that's owned by the same person that owns the Escort Mk2 above...former professional rally driver, perhaps? Well, it looks like that Escort has the driver and co-driver names on it.

I suppose there really used to be an RS200 in Indonesia: http://www.rs200.com/162.htm
Dodgy article, though - "...son of departed President Sugiarto." President Sugiarto who? Also, Jonakie D. Sugiarto? Maybe, it meant Jongkie D. Sugiarto instead. (chairman at Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia/Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries)

But, looks like the one you saw was a different one...you just continue to surprise me on amazing cars I thought I'd never see in my homeland...

Ford Werk Aktiengesellschaft...

Does that mean this one was assembled by Ford-Werke GmbH in Germany? Weren't RS200s assembled in Shenstone, Stafforshire, UK? Or, does that simply indicate that this was originally bought by someone in Germany, offered by a Ford dealer in Germany...I don't know. That's pretty interesting. And what are those numbers measured in kg? Surely an RS200 doesn't weigh 1750kg on its own. (or any of the other numbers imprinted)

Oh wow.....

No really, i'm that surprised because, believe it or not, i just noticed it!

EDIT: Can anyone explain how the chassis numbers work/how to read them?

Last edited:
@Famine you might perhaps know of its authenticity?
All I want to know is how much will it cost to buy and send to me? It has Evo scoops on it...

1750kg will be the gross vehicle weight - as much as the car can legally weigh full of people and things.

Edit: The VIN is originally from a 1990, Cologne-built Ford Sierra Sapphire. It's a kit.

That chassis plate doesn't seem to stack up with it being genuine. The car looks authentic though. :odd:

*edit* In fact, that appears to be a Sapphire Cosworth chassis plate. The VIN code 'WF0FXXGBBF' is for the Sapphire Cossie. It's also screwed on, not riveted like it should be. Curious.

Sierra Sapphire Cosworth - built in Feb 1990 in Genk.

It's odd though. That interior is a perfect copy. It even has the torque split lever (red lever next to the gear stick) which not many genuine RS200's had. All the replicas i've seen have a Sierra dashboard, which is very different around the passenger's side.

I wonder if it's a genuine one that's had it's identity changed at some point for some reason. Which would explain the cossie VIN plate having been screwed on. perhaps something to do with Indonesian vehicle import laws?

Yep, it's definitely something that has to do with Indonesian vehicle import laws. The good ol' "Chassis Number Fraud".

Let's put it this way:

The old owner might've possibly bought the RS200 without papers and registration from overseas (or smuggled to Indonesia), Since Indonesia has such a strict law about vehicles without papers and registration, cheapskates the owner, just like many other classic car owners, found an alternative way to escape the cops and making the car street legal: Chassis Number Fraud.

Basically, the owner either had a Sapphire Cossie or bought the VIN, papers, etc of a Cossie and somehow swapped the original RS200 VIN plate to a Cossie that has already been registered on the roads, and thus, resulting in an "identity change".

The main reason behind it, is simple; to avoid getting in trouble with the cops (or even worse, involved in car smuggling)

Another thing worth noting, is the fact that the cops here in Indonesia has next-to-none knowledge about cars!
Here's an "example" :

*gets pulled over while driving a Corolla Levin*
Police: License and registration, sir.
Me: Here ya go.
Police: Hmm.... A Toyota Corolla EE80, huh?
Well, a Toyota is a Toyota, you're free to go.
*cop returns registration papers*
*drives away*

Simply put, you pay the regular taxes of the "cossie" as a "cossie" and the cops won't even bat an eye. As long as the serial numbers match, there shouldn't be a problem.

And besides, what kind of a RS200 kit car owner (based on a cossie!) would ever go into such troubles trying to convert the engine position/drivetrain of the car? Or, in this case, a GENUINE RS200 engine?

Ah, yknow what? I'm gonna return there on monday, take some hi-res pics with my "actual" camera, and post it here.

Do you have any other pictures of it? Did you notice if it had the twin front and rear shock absorbers?
