Don Luigi
If Porsche/Lamborghini/Ferrari, etc. were charging too much for their licences, I think that is a bad move in terms of marketing - if those cars were included and became favourites in the game, many people would consider purchasing those in real life, proabably increasing the volume of sales.

Agreed, take for Example, Nissan Skylines, they weren't really that known outside of Japan. Now there's loads over in the UK, this is mainly due to Gran Turismo & the Playstation Generation.

Also, TVR got a major boost in sales after the first GT came out, especially in Japan.

See, even though Ferrari might not specifically make a sale because of GT, it generates interest. People like Ferraris in the game, they get interested in Ferraris in real life. That generates fan support for the racing teams. Fan support bolsters the team with more sponsors and whatnot. More sponsors means more money, which means more wins, which means more exposure. And a high profile winning race team will sell cars.

I believe I heard in an interview with KY that Ferrari wanted to be in game, but were prevented due to previous agreements...but that's still 2nd or 3rd hand information.
