I must admit that recent comments are leaving me a tad flabbergasted, there's a really bad selfish "don't like the game then tough ****" attitude.....

Here's an analogy for some people over my attitude towards the GT series. It's like a football team I support and they've been at the top for a while but recently dropped off the top (not far...but a drop nontheless) and you guys are all telling me to go and support someone else because I'm criticising the players/manager.

criticism is healthy, but it seems that a lot of people here are really adverse to someone criticising the game.

I mean I've tried playing it like the other GTs, but due to the lack of events I decided to try and collect every car, which really brought home the lack of quality in the standards, the awfull in game economy (not helped by the lack of events). The seasonals help, but even then PD do weird things like use Tsukuba EVERY seasonal (not quite but damn... it's pretty close to being used every time and it's the MOST used track in the damn game anyway!!) Hardly ANY reverse courses used. I could really go on.

It's like Kaz looked in my head for what I thought would be the WORST GT ever and then made GT5 just that!!

It's all very disheartening, especially with the comments that come my way.

TheFlyingKiwi
GT5 is like any supercar, brilliant but flawed, what's worth more.

The Flying Kiwi had spoken!
That was a great analogy sr kiwi.

I'm wondering of there's a correlation between acceptance/non acceptance of GT5s flaws. So I'm trying a poll for the first time.

I'm not exactly sure what you have in mind by "accept". The interpretation I went with is acknowledging that GT5 has faults and shortcomings but still accepting GT5 as a generally enjoyable game to play despite those flaws. However, I wondered whether you meant more along the lines of accepting the flaws as being perfectly fine.

More a case of accepting the flaws and not understanding those who wish to be vociferous in complaining about problems. Kind of like a gaming "apathy", maybe it's because I am a perfectionist in most things in my life, I get frustrated when things fails to deliver and when something comprehensively fails to deliver(like GT5) I complain about it. Like I've said before, it's like Kaz ask me what GT game I would dislike the most and he made it!!

Maybe I care too much about GT and need to just let it go and enjoy it for what it is, not what it should be.

EXACTLY.

What it should be is subjective, we all know what it could be, but creating it is a whole different ball game.

I'd like to see the same sort of poll, except for the PSN outage...

Of course I accept them. The only disappointment for me is that for whatever reason it's not quite as much fun as GT4, but the most important aspects have been improved (physics, car selection, graphics). The presentation is the only area that I feel let down on, and that's something I can easily ignore.

At the risk of being argumentative when we've agreed on something....I know it's subjective but go and look at my complaints and are there any at all that wouldn't SERIOUSLY improve the game?? And I feel that creating some of the things aren't THAT hard.

43 yrs old, and this sums it up for me.
PD have succeeded with the graphics and physics, they just forgot to make the game itself...
I like the product, I play the product, but I sure miss how much there was to do (and tracks) in GT4.

I voted "No - under 20". The game's menu is terrible, its events are very limited as far as I could see, very few tracks in my opinion, the racing gets old very quickly due to this. It feels like I've been racing in the same tracks for the last four years of my life (and technically, I have). GT4 was a better game at the time than GT5 is right now. The newer cars included in GT5 aren't very exciting, to be honest. The paint system is a joke, as well. The Photomode sucks compared to GT4's, or I suck at it, which may be the actual case.

Ironically, the thing I complained the most before the game came out (standard cars), is the one that bothers me the less now that I have the game. There is so much that needs to be done to this game to actually make it enjoyable when outside a race.

EDIT: And how could I forget about overly-priced race cars and that stupid leveling up system is beyond me.

Closing comments: That "perfectionist" attitude people attributed to Kaz is yet to be seen in this game. As I see it, "perfectionism" is not about making the game perfect, but at least try to make it something close. People did not even try with this game, in my opinion.

Yes GTPlanet. I mad.

By choosing the word "FLAWS", IMO you have grossly understated the case here.

GT5 has core issues, that are not correctable with DLC, as again IMO some delusional fans choose to believe.

This game will have to be completely demo'd, except some of the graphics and physics, and rebuilt from the ground up.

"Terminally flawed" is a much more apt descriptive.

For an analogy, Kaz may with intense treatments, get the patient out of the bed and into a wheelchair,
but that would be nothing short of miraculous and beyond the maximum possible prognosis of recovery.

Sadly but realistically, we can only hope PD will learn as Coca Cola did, and GT6 will be made with more of the "original recipe".

Huh, for a "terminally flawed" game I sure manage to boot it up and play pretty darn regularly. Me and my friends have a blast racing pretty regularly. The most frustrating time I have with the game is when I am driving poorly.

I think you are confusing "terminally flawed" with "totally useless".

They are not the same thing.

It appears you are racing mostly "online".

If so, then I think you are confusing "the game" with "online play".

They bare little in common. "Online play" is merely a facilitation of some game components.

However, I will agree, it can be enjoyable...................at times.

BTW, you shouldn't "Drink and Drive", even "online". ;)

Alright, to clarify my vote of under 20 (16)and yes...
I am just fine accepting what is wrong with the game because over all it is still a very good one. ALL of us have a wishlist that could make it better, but that is true for ANYTHING. You cant shelf your real car because it has say.. a dent in the fender. A dent can be fixed, but how many of us would fix it, especially if it could still leave other problems like cracked paint? It is the same with the game.

30, no. I don't play online, so I just didn't feel like I got the amount of content I was expecting. I haven't played it in months, it only led me to try other racing games. I keep waiting for an expansion of some sort.
