Accord engines

One might opine that the 1.6 and 2.0 Sport Imprezas are "economy" cars. Certainly both have a smaller engine capacity than a 2.2i Accord. And you just got rid of a turbocharged one... :D

[/stir]

lol, I like the [/stir]

I have the two litre turbocharged one presently, I sold the old natural aspirated 2.5l Impreza.

I certainly don't think of it as a true sports car up there with Corvettes up to Ferraris, but I wouldn't consider it an economy car either. 20mpg isn't great for an economy car, and I think a 14.1 second quarter mile out of the box isn't bad.

Basically what I'm saying, is I opine (never even heard that w3rd before, I hope I'm using it right) that my WRX isn't an economy car, and I would gladly put it up against a F22B2 turbocharged accord in a quarter mile, and around the track.

EDIT: Went to M-W, I think it would of rather been, "my opine"... or something. I JUST WOKE UP! LEAVE ME ALONE!

"Opine" is merely a posh way of saying "give an opinion". It looks neater than IMO IMO.

Damn.

Hmm... The |2053++4 5+0|\|3... Interesting concept :D

Hahaha :D

But back to topic.

Would you consider the WRX to be an economy car or sports? Or somewhere in between? Also, this was just floating around in my head, what about a Mazda Miata? Even though down on horsepower from my Subaru, the RWD, leightweight body and remarkable handling characteristics, it's in a higher autocrossing class. I think I would definatly consider it more a sports car than mine.

My opinion, it is neither. Its whatever you call a hopped up economy car. Evo = hopped up Lancer. STi = hopped up WRX. STR-4 = hopped up Neon. Even an M3 = hopped up 3-series... if you can consider that an economy car.

You can call them 'homologation specials', or even factory tuner cars. But they are "too practical" to be considered sports cars (ie usuable trunk + back seats).

A Miata is a sports car.

Thank you. . . People look at it like it is a sissy car. . . but when it burns you, you feel like uh. . . well . . . like giving up. . . It was always fun leaving people in the chicanes :D

One big nod. Hell, even in the weaker powered Miatas (the 1.6L) are beating WRXs. Impressive little cars they are. My dad's is currently 4 feet off the ground, he's replacing the struts.

The BMW I would classify as a luxury car that will leave you far behind far more stressed and far less comfortable than the BMW is.

Haha, and miata, I used to call them sissy. But seeing how fast and agile they are, sometimes I second guess the WRX to the Miata.

THIS is a sports car, moreso than the white 4 door in the background, even though the white one is faster at.. well..everything.

I still wish I had mine. . . I would take you for the run around . . . You burn any Z06s yet??? Take a few on in a road course and tell me how you do :D It would give me a glimspe of how formidable the WRX is :D

My very first autocross I beat a Z06, in the RS. :D

In all fairness, it was somewhat cold and all RWD cars were having some troubles.

The Miata ate those Z06s up all day. . . I loved that car so much. . . I dropped probably around $15 grand into it with the Rotary in it. . . It Dyno around 360 to 380hp and I got kicked out of the Drag track for no cage because I landed a quarter under 11 seconds. . . :( Then of course I threw a cage in it and got it ready for road racing. :D

There was an expert running a Z06 pretty hard. On hard corners, he would hit that black protecting strip underneath the front bumper. He had very quick times if I remember correctly.

I must of just skipped over your entry about your Miata. That sounds like it was quite the car!! How hard was it to toss that rotary in there?

Yeah that is a true sign of the Z06 running hard. . . If any of them got the inside rear tire off the ground is a complete show of skill in that car. . . I have seen it once and man this guy knew how to race :D

The Rotary truly was too much pain, but I did have to move the dash back an inch to prop the engine behind the front tires, which included the firewall. . . It weighed less then the I4 in it and was smaller to more room to do stuff :D

Given a Miata and another rotary, would you do it again?
Yes and No. . . I would if I had the resources that I had at the time. . . :D

Indeed it is a sign of the driver's skill, but it is also a sign the car needs a stiffer front sway bar.

That is very true. . . Don't forget the rear anti Roll bars, a limited slip diff., 16 way adjustable dampers. . . etc. :D

A Z06 doesn't come with an LSD standard?? You sure about that?
