Okay, so I'm now lost in the account lingo.
I've noticed that you can pay $50 for a 20 Year Premium account, but you only have to have 100 posts and have an account for 90 days to upload a custom avatar and title.

So what is the difference between the two?
(I know that the Premium account has private forums, 2000 message space, etc.)

Custom avatars are 100x100 and require a minimum post count/membership period. Premium avatars are 120x120 and require only a Premium (monthly, annual or lifetime) account.

I have a question, Im sorry if it may be a little late..
But If im non premium (I joined a week ago) can I post a custom avatar, and if so How do I do it?

Thanks

And premos get the red name, the tag under the avatar (if you so choose), the ability to see 100 posts/page, larger inbox, the private forum...Am I missing anything?

The ability to close your own threads, 500MB of space in the photo galleries, and 20MB of message attachment space. :)

I changed my avatar about 8 weeks ago and I haven't been a member for 90 days.

That was actually the requirements for a custom user title, not an avatar, which only require 100 posts. This thread is pinned at the top of this Site Feedback forum for reference.

Name changes are a benefit of Premium membership. You can sign up for a 1-month subscription to Premium (or longer of you prefer), and PM one of the administrators. We will change your name for you.

As I don't want to create a new thread, I'll use this.
I made this avatar, 120x120px but with 514kb doesn't work in this forum, I understand this forum doesn't allow big avatars due to space, memory or whatever, but, using the URL? what is the problem? and about signatures the same, why not pictures? all forums allow it, even free (amateur) forums, do you know what I mean?

You cant put it in signatures because everyone would put pictures in there and the loading times would be alot longer. One of the main reasons people are here is because it is a clean forum and it loads quicker than most sites.

514kb - I understand this forum doesn't allow big avatars due to space, memory or whatever, but, using the URL? what is the problem?

It still has to load for everyone - your avatar alone would take the same amount of time as 26 other people's avatars...

I'm Admin on another forum which doesn't allow signature images, so that's not true.

The same reason applies - they have to load for everyone, whatever the source server. Plus they add another 100px of screen height you have to scroll past every time that person posts in a given thread. Having to scroll past the same image again and again and again is kinda tiresome - at least with avatars there's some content in the same portion of screen height...

Ok, I understand, this is a boring but functional and clean forum

Boring?

It's far more boring have to scroll past the same attention-whoring sig-banner 20 times for every 1-line post that "contributor" makes on a page.

It's easily the least boring forum I visit. In fact, I don't think any of the forums I visit allow image signatures for the same reason; they take up pointless loading time and most of them look horrifically tacky.

I agree 100%, its one of the few forums I can actually stomach reading through. It's nice not to have to spend ages trawling through tacky pictures trying to work out what is relevant to the thread and what is some useless nonsense.

A) We do not allow images in signatures, because loading times would go way up.

B) Image sigs are incredibly distracting and waste a huge amount of screen space, especially when repeated dozens of times in each discussion. The actual text of the thread gets overwhelmed by the signatures, and the reason we are here is to discuss topics. There is no need to show the same signature picture over and over again with every post. That's why we have profile pictures.

C) We do not allow linking to remotely hosted avatars again because loading times would go way up. Even if it is not GTP's server capacity that is being loaded, imagine if dozens of 500k images had to load for every page to of discussion to be viewed.

Edit:

D) Late to the party, I see.

Thanks for the answers.

I want to change boring for visually less attractive.

I actually think it looks better without signature pics. I like forums for the posts, if I wanted to look at pictures I would go to a site dedicated to that.

Not to mention that 3/4 of the times pic. signatures are horribly made.

I suppose this isn't related to accounts per sé, but account pages; their formatting seems to have gone all haywire and are now aligned to the right side?

Since I'm not sure if it's just me, here's a sample:

Profiles may look a little funny for the next few days. GTPX is coming. :)

Let me guess... On Tuesday? Do you want to give us a heart attack? I don't think we'll be able to handle E3 AND the release of GTPX. We'll simply collapse.

No, definitely before Tuesday! You guys have it easy, though - just sit back and watch. I'm the one who's got to make sure you've got a website to look at! :p

Nice, 10 GTP's in about 10 years. Better the Kaz! :p:tup:
Hehe, got an idea for the next April Fool's Joke.. have everything switch back to GTPI :p
Never seen it either :dunce: Can you give us a screenshot?
