Does anyone here play this game? If so, what are your thoughts on the series? I have played both 4 & 5 and enjoyed them both Immensely. I passed, no interest, on the first three in the series.

Cool. I played every game except AC2 and the psp titles. The series is pure quality, superb graphics and gameplay, AC4 is actually my favourite of the series. So much good memories, playing AC 1 and 3 on the old PlayStation 1, ah the good times.

I thought I was the only one. Did you obtain all the aircrafts in AC4? I am still missing two of them. Awesome game man, I fell in love with it from day one.

Funny thing, when I first started playing it took me a while, month or two, before I stopped tilting my head to catch my bearings.

Which view do you use, and which aircraft do you like the best?

I played the fourth one (rented it) but I did manage to beat it on both normal and hard. Played the hell out of it, it's a very fun game. 👍

I loved the later airplanes, they had insane tracking missiles. No matter the angle from which you locked on you'd hit 'em!

I have every aircraft with every colour and every weapon for each aircraft. (there is an extra aircraft you can obtain somehow, a prototype-I have it also of course) I played every mission on every difficulty level with the "S" result, so yeah, I loved this game.

I ALWAYS use third-person view, also in GT, I love seeing what I'm flying or driving.

My favourite aircraft, hm, either the SU-37-love it's style and maneuverability or the F-14 Tomcat in black, looks so awesome in the canyon level under the sun setting, which would probably be my favourite location in the game, although I love many of them, they look so lifelike, almost better than most modern games.

Did you actually know that sometimes, in some locations there are some intresting prototypes flying around you can shoot down? They bring a lot of cash. Oh right there was even a SR-71 in the "rocket-launch" mission, pretty cool, the mission, where you only have to shoot down airplanes.

And in Ace Combat 5 you could find for example ice bears in the associated level or even pac-man , somewhere hidden in one of the missions.

What is your favourite airplane and location actually?

@ Alex P., I love the F22 Raptor and Megalith (mission 34). Megalith (sp) for the intro and music during the mission. Clear Skies Mission is pretty cool. Also Deep Impact! I love the shear speed through those canyons as well. :sly:

I'm missing the last SU37, the one at the bottom, and also the last F114, bottom as well. I scouted the various sectors for anything I might have missed, but no luck so far. I think Farbanti is where I'm missing it at, and also Lifeline. But, I'm not sure!

I like the Raptor because it makes the game a little more challenging for me. I use cockpit view. And I love to see the replay with it, not too small or too big, size wise. Plus it is the alliances (ISAF) best aircraft. I think I got a stigma for the SU37, because of Yellow Squadron.

@Coxis, I find myself playing Ace level all the time, even in free missions. The challenge for me is ensuring I destroy all targets for a particular mission, before time runs out. Bunkershot is the only mission I haven't succeeded in so far. Fun little game! 👍

1. Let me check some sites, maybe I can find where they are.

2.Yeah I see.

Alright, on a tips and cheats site I found out that you only get the SU-37 paint, when you you have ALL the others first. The one for the F1114?-you mean F-14 right?, anyways, you'll get it in one of the mission because there is a hidden plane in EVERY mission and you can only find them at the normal difficulty setting or higher, but not lower. Oh, and you can probably find them in the free-mission mode, there is no need to play the campaign to obtain the paints.

Thanks for the info!

F114 is the stealth bomber. Yeah, I've been using the free mission mode to find those targets.

So does that mean, I'm only missing one target then? Or do I have to find a second target to get the Sukhoi SU37 paint as well?

Oh right the black triangle plane thingy, never liked it. Anyways, I guess you have to find first the F-114 and THEN somewhere else the Suchoi plane, good luck mate. (Btw. I BELIEVE the F114 was in the desert mission, not sure though, some 8 years ago you understand...lol)

Thanks man! I'll be hunting the skies tonight! :sly:

IRL that Sukhoi is the badest thing in the sky. Love watching those airshow vids of them dancing on their tails about 50 to 100' above ground. Awesome piece of machinery.

👍

I know man, if I'm not mistaken, it is the most maneuverable airplane to this day and the first versions of it were built already in the 80's, that's pretty crazy, oh and you're welcome of course.

Is nice to see another potential Ace Combat fan on these forums,I have play all the games on the series, from the PS1 air combat to ace combat joint assault on the PSP.

If you like the storyline on AC04 then AC5 will not disappoint you,I personally believe that the best game in the whole series is Ace Combat Zero for the PS2.

Games that you should play are AC5(strong storyline),ACZ(my personal best game),AC3 JP(strong storyline, but only on JP,the western version had rubbish storylines),as for the ones that you should avoid there are AC:joint assault,is good but is not as good.

And as for AC04 is I got all aircraft/colours,its quite addictive one you get down to it, hutting aces is kind of fun and fighting with the 13 squadron is something full of awesomeness

Haha, your name always told me you're probably some hardcore fan of the series, I was right after all, not that surprising I must admit though lol.

Yeah a think the game gives off a sense of total freedom, I loved the story lines. They made the hunt more engaging.

I gotta say though, I was almost not going to start this thread, due in part to not ever hearing or meeting anyone who played. But it's nice to see those of you who share this experience.

I have played the entire game (AC4) through with a specific aircraft, or different one for each mission, or with a timer running in my head for fastest completion. I have found so many ways to wring the fun out of this game as much as possible.

I've loved aircraft all my life, and have always lived close to an airport of some sort. The earlier iterations in games wasn't that appealing. Once I came across this series though, especially AC4 with it's freedom within a mission to acquire targets, I was on cloud eleven.

AC5 was a little more restrictive, meaning it wasn't until about the fifth mission that you could choose an aircraft of your choice. But loved the faster tracking missiles, and of course, the Arcbird and Remfaxi were very challenging. Didn't like how it ended at the tunnel, I thought there should have been at least another mission, oh well, very enjoyable all the same.

I can never forget Mobius 1!

I tried playing Ace Combat 6, but the corny angel stuff was just too much. And corny.

,I just not too good for names,so is all just my real-world nickname and my favourite thing in the whole universe(specially ACZ)

Agreed, the "I know is dangerous, but I time to go and dance with the angels!" is one of the most :ouch: sentences of the whole ace combat series, nothing match the "yo buddy, still alive, and thanks friend see you again" sort of awesome gaming sentences along with "Metal Gear!!!" from MGS series.

I have to say that AC04 have one of the most significant storyline, along with AC5,the way that Mobius one is view by his enemy(not directly, but you know what I mean if you have played the game)is something unique in these days game's storylines.

but as far as I'm concern nothing beats this:

This.

Best selection of planes, least-grating storyline aside from AC04, best ridiculous sci-fi superweapons, better missile ranges than AC04, and nicely adjusted physics (although AC04 is still the only one with believable stalls).

Ace Combat 6 is a mixed bag; obviously the graphics are the best so far, and the game finally offers a challenge (my best friend and I could routinely finish off an entire map's worth of enemies in AC5 before the radio dialogue could finish; allies would often mention being shot by enemies that no longer existed). The flight/combat gameplay is on par, too (high-G is too useful to complain about it), and the little experience I had with the online was really fun -- co-op with a friend on one of the mission levels was a blast.

However, the superweapons and several of the missions seem uninspired, and there's the whole beating-a-corny-catchphrase-into-a-bloody-pulp-and-then-keeping-it-on-life-support-to-get-more-mileage-out-of-it thing. I'm having fun playing through the game again on the highest difficulty, but it's not an example of the series in top form.

I was involved with a small Ace-Combat-themed forum for a while. Mismanagement turned it into a disorganized mess, which turned me away, but I still have the image I used for my signature, in the same style as the E30 M3 in my current avatar here:

You're right, about pretty much everything, specially in the part of the AC community, there is no organize website for fans of the series, the closet thing was AC Skies, but I got bored with it after a while(too childish if I'm honest),sometimes I just like to make my own Ace combat based website, but Meh no one will join so why bother.

Personally I like to think that gaming reach the top in 2006,when AC Zero came out, nothing can be compared with it,and nothing hasn't beat it yet,the game(for me)is perfect in almost every single game that ever existed, all down to the experience that gives you, either fighting against the XB-0,or trying to destroy Excalibur or beating the last mission are some unique moments that gaming hasn't top yet,AC6 was more of a show than a game(with its storyline),AC6 wasn't bad,but it wasn't as good as AC Zero, and newer concepts look good but doesn't call too much the attention for me.

And nice craft BTW,I was working on a Su-37 Camo based strigion paint job with grey but I just simply forgot to keep working on it,and you seem to also being in the Belkan side(Belkan roundel),which is the best fictional nation from all time.

Is nice to say Ace Combat fans around here,is a shame that there is no site for enthusiasts like us.

Seems as if I need to find ACZ, didn't know it existed 'till now. Based on how you guys have described it, it appears to be a must have.

Edit:: Well, well! Still haven't found the last two paint yet. It's getting frustrating now. I think I'm going to lay-off for a minute and give it some thought, whilst doing the GT4 Survivors Cup. :sly:

Gamestop doesn't have ACZ on the shelves, in my area, so I'll keep checking back from time to time. :ouch:

Still didn't find the paints? That's a shame...oh and, just buy the game on ebay or amazon, it's worth it. 👍

I only got into the AC series from Zero, picking it up in a bargain bin and loved it to bits.

I always thought the Eurofighter was the best for me, but I'd say the amount of hours if not days I spent in the F-15's would make them my weapon of choice.

Would love to go back and play the others, but the PS2 games are getting expensive on Ebay!

If you get a chance and get the F-23 in AC-0 it's right up at the top for planes especially during final battle with it's ASRAAM, four shots bad guy downed(forgot his name) actually looking forward to upcoming release.

I am playing AC4 again for the shear pleasure, the last two paints have eluded me. Played last night until 5 a.m., just enjoying the scenery of some of the levels, still grips me.

My favorite jet in ace combat 4 is by far the f-15 active. Don't know which game is my favorite though

Yep, this plane was definately also a treat, awesome machine.

Love the F15 (Active) flight responses, but I dislike the artillery options for it. Considering, that even the F16 has a better array of arsenal at it's disposal.

Ive played almost every Ace Combat besides AC2 because i couldn't find a ROM of it and AC6 because i dont have an xbox.

AC5 is my favorite, story line is good enough to be a movie. AC4 was OK, seemed to me that alot of the missions were the same where you just had to get a certain amount of points in time.

For me, AC5 was somewhat limiting through some of the levels, in particular the levels which had no option for choice of aircraft to use. I enjoyed it emensely as well, but that limitation of choice got to me after a while.

I would have loved being able to choose a craft of my preference to run the entire gauntlet of missions. That's the only drawback for me about AC5.

Loved the storyline as you mentioned Silver-Sylph, it definitely plays along a theme.

Regards.
DK.
