Yeah, isn't the 8C listing for over $200K here in the US. I know we're only getting a handful, all of which have been spoken for, but I had figured the Ferrari would be less.
 
The side looks pretty good. I'm sure the rest will grow on me, but it sort of looks like some cheap 599 kit for the MR-S.
 
My first impression on the picture was like, this is so Alfa 8C. It almost like they are on the same chassis. Nice engine for Ferrari fans, but I think they can use some innovation, like someone mentioned earlier about using V6. Taillights are beautiful and they are better than their counterparts from F430 and Enzo. However, it looks Italian but it doesn't scream Ferrari. Maybe I should call it a tamer prancing horse for the newbies. Its kinda like Porsche did 924/944/968 long time ago as an entry-level car.

I think the second generation Hyundai Coupe / Tiburon which was said to be very Ferrari esque (journalists said its looked like a 456) looks better than this!

was at the Ferrari dealer last night, looking at the different models. (dont ask )

This new Ferrari will probably adopt the F149 name plate and will look just fine amongst its stable mates.

You see alot of people have been calling it the "entry level or affordable" model but its looking to be priced more than the F430.

Well for starters, this car better resembles the flagship 599 and is a front-mid engined layout. It will also have a retractable hardtop, direct injection V8 and a DSG transmission.

Where in that last sentence did "entry level" or "affordable" pop up?

Again, quality car comes with a quality price. I approve.

It will be more than the F430, as Montezemolo said. Not that it matters since you can't get F430s from the factory anymore.

Yeah, it lists for $265,000. And personally, I think the car is grossly over-priced for what you're getting. Options? Don't bother. Anything other than red will cost you $6,180 at least. Even the vehicle cover is over-priced at $710.
 
Everything that bears the name Ferrari is expensive.
 
Not really. You can get a Dino for pretty cheap these days...

I hope you're referring to the 308 GT/4 Dino. You'll be lucky to find a 246GT Dino for under $150/£75k these days.
 
Hmmm. I seem to recall seeing 246GT models for less than $50K a year or two back. Those guys, the Testarossa and the Mondial all seem to be "affordable" despite the Ferrari nameplates.

The Dino was never a Ferrari in the badge, but that's not important because it was in every respect a real Ferrari. The Mondial is truly underrated; the low prices don't surprise me.

Well, given, a Ferrari Dino is not just a used car... the Mondial isn't exactly just a second-hand bargain at first either. The Testarossa, however, I can agree with.

I think this new Ferrari will cost $140-160K, base or economy.

A F430 prices at $173,000, and Montezemolo already said this Ferrari will not likely be cheaper.
 
You guys are quoting MSRP for these vehicles. 95% of buyers never get these cars at that price. So the reality is much different.

Take the F430. Only now are the MY05 cars starting to come down in market value to what their MSRP prices were. So now, after 4 years, are F430s finally worth what they were supposed to be asking for. 2nd hand spiders are still trading at a premium over sticker price.

The F430 scud is the same. There was one mentioned to have sold for 180K over sticker.
The 599 was no different.

The California will be no different. Even if Ferrari were to claim it as an "affordable" Ferrari... it never really would have. The demand for Fcars is just too high, and the wealthy who buy them do not hesitate the fork out the necessary cash to have one in their possession.

In a way, all hot cars command a premium when they're new. But supply eventually keeps up with demand and their value drops quickly.
The high demand for Ferrari's help boost and maintain the value of their cars.
 
Ferrari's in my opinion are too much a generalised rich mans car. Rich man wins lottery, buys ferrari. This car will be owned mostly by people who know nothing of Ferrari and the passion of the company, and for this, I think they should not manufacture this car, and stick a 430 replacement in at a higher price.

Ferrari doesn't care if you don't know anything about their cars. They only care about money. They love the fact that their name is the first thing on a person's mind when they think about what car to buy after hitting a jackpot.
 
Apparent by the endless merchandise they put out... I mean, a Segway?

Then it is no surprise that they are generalized so, and will only be more pronounced as paychecks grow.

Makes so much more sense to me. It totally balances the car, and that swoosh over the shoulders looks much better (although it still doesn't entirely make sense to me).

Looks far better - and the colour helps too. In red it makes less and less sense.
 
Much better with the top up, yes. almost makes one wonder why it comes down in the first place.

Wow with the top up it's gorgeous! Quit unattractive with the top down though.
 
Top down isn't bad, but just incomplete... the roof finishes it.

Gorgeous car, but a very common shape (Alfa 8C, Ferrari and Corvette concepts).
 
Top up that thing is pure win. Top down is just alright. I think they should make a strictly hard top version of the car also, just so people have choice. I'm a bit biased though, as I love my hardtops period.

Gotta wonder though, how are you guys saying top down looks bad when there isnt a picture up there where the car is fully together with the drop top...
