I never got used to playing Project Cars. I love Gran Turismo gameplay. And I would very much like PD to have the production pace of Slighty Mad to deliver its customers a circuit list similar to PC3.

I can't understand that, despite all the long production time, added to the budget, PD can't deliver a list of real circuits at least similar to half of this list.View attachment 1129156
The developer of the RIDE franchise, the Italian Milestone, is another that manages to put an incredible diversity of real and iconic circuits in its games. I don't understand why PD has this difficulty. This is list of the RIDE 4:

Looking at that list of tracks (one area in particular - a small Island between England and Ireland) reminded me of how much I'd love to see the TT course in GT.

Project Cars 2's tracklist is better, SMS removed a lot of great stuff from 2 for 3's tracklist.

The historic tracks aren't just old layouts with modern surroundings either, but full recreations and PC2 has the dirt physics to make the rallycross tracks a worthwhile inclusion.

When the game came out nobody knew we were going to see our "income" decrease, significantly.
At the beginning I spent a lot of credits in cars, tuning and customization.

I don't know OP's cr aquired in total, but I have a total of 41h driving and 22.309.167 cr aquired since march 4th.

60 hours with actually 10,443,000 million credit + 11,000,145 credit that I have already spent in cars.
Did you use the AFK cheese to get this? If so, it doesn't count.

If you legitimately grinded it out yourself, fair play friend.

Today I lost some credits because I needed to buy tires for the 30 minutes challenge on high speed ring. And I earned 5000 for it. Wow.
I've been doing quite a lot of testing of cars in time trial mode for Suzuka at 600 PP. It costs hundreds of thousands of credits each time I want to tune a new car, and that's limiting myself to cars I already own. It pays out zero credits, so I basically never have any credits, and can average testing maybe one car per day.

I have 75 hours (the game says) but I know I've not played 3.75 hrs per day.
I wonder where this discrepancy comes in, does it count the time it idles in menus?
The game profile page has one for "playing time" and one for "driving time" so presumably those 75 hours counts every minute the game is running no matter what you're doing, and driving time is a smaller number counting time on track.

Ah yes, driving time was about half. The numbers add up now :)

Great! And with the bonus of 4k and better physics, I'm super happy and thankful for the opportunity to be able to play this excellent game!
It certainly does look better, but it does have quite a lot of recycled track content, will not much new in that regard.
Edit: Which is much more interesting than the PC variants of racing simulators!
Utterly subjective, but as mainly PC sim racer I objectivly have more choice, access to mods for many titles, and better physics and FFB in many of them.

Sure, but I prioritize BoP, daily race C, championships and private leagues, and the huge pool of players leading to fair and hard competition any hour of the day. If something else was more popular online and had better everyday e-sport, I'd leave GT immediately. I'm never loyal to anything but my own personal values - I just don't see alternatives that are better for me and my preferences.

When it comes to comparing games themselves, my experience and knowledge is a tiny fraction of yours.

Also, I find it needed - and fun - to offer a counterweight to all the crying about how everything sucks. The "truth" is of course somewhere inbetween.

Online could be. PC sims are mostly about simulation. And GT7 is way behind. I think GT7 is so frustrating experience it doesn't deserve anything good. It's in the design to create frustration with everything. Not good, we are paid customers.

And on console that's fair, but dismissing PC on that basis is odd, particularly given that GT lifted its Sport mode wholesale from iRacing.

Either directly through the title or via plugins pretty much every PC racing title offers what you seem to belive is unique to GT.

Including the large online player pool?
Not across all titles no, as PC gaming is more niche than consoles. I've never however struggled to find races in RaceRoom, and while I don't race in it iRacing certainly seems more than busy in terms of its race schedules and pool of drivers despite offering a much wider range of races than GT's Sport mode does.

Just checked, iRacing has 9 different events, all with participants starting in the next 5 minutes, with another nine starting on the hour, etc.

I would also argue that some of the PC titles offer more variety and are more consistent in approach, particularly given the issues I see raised here around the frequent changes to Sport mode, such as BoP, variety, unused tracks/layouts, the now split player base, changeable penalties, etc.

iracing has it covered but the investment there is steep, paying for all the DLC you want can set you broke if you're not careful, on top of your costs for a nice gaming PC, Sim rig etc just to be on the same starting level as others. PC racing is a whole other ballgame.

Raceroom is the alternative and is much more affordable in cost, it's a very nice sim and still holds up remarkably in the sound design but the breadth of the playerbase depends on what region you are for the best ping. Gran Turismo games have a huge reach when they're online, GT7 however is a bit amiss.

I agree. The game is hollow and absolutely lacking.
My overall experiences are is that this game makes an absolute mockery of tuning principles...
The physics and handling of the cars are like something from Burnout...
The Trial Mountain track in the WTC700 series has a seriously different level of grip/ feeling than the track you can race on in a custom race...
The GT40 after buying it l have found out is a pile of trash and drives like a tank. I thought it's body was made of fibreglass! Clearly it's made of 2" thick lead sheet in GT7...
As for the future, it will be more of what you got now. Low payout from dull catch the rabbit, rubber band racing.
Man, the GT40 Mk1 really bummed me out after I had a chance to drive it for a while. I've eventually gotten it to a decent state but nowhere near as nice as it was in Sport. Maybe it's more "realistic" but given I'm not a billionaire I can't really buy one to find out.

Oh, PD could do it, they just won't pay what the owners ask to license them. Same reason we don't even the the base model C8 Vette even though it's been on the road for over two years, let alone the 2023 Z06 and Z07 that many automotive outlets got to check out months ago and report on all the specs. I highly doubt Chevrolet is asking a king's ransom to license it, but it would take work and money, both things PD apparently feels their new game does not deserve very much of...
