Let them complain... Maybe they'll decide not to buy it... The there will be a better chance for someone who hasn't read all the previews, all the rumors, all the speculation, all the complaints, or hasn't played the GT franchise before, to pick up a copy...

Fact being, not everyone is a GT fanatic, the game wasn't made specifically for GT fanatics only... Players new to the series will most likely be overwhelmed with all the features, modes, races, and cars...

People need to look at all the facts, and know what they're talking about before they open they mouths... 3 years of production... That's actually not a long time when you take into consideration all the planning, conceptual development, research, data collection, technical development, tweaking, etc that goes on... Not to mention the press release, demos etc that were released so Fanatics like you folks can catch a glimpse of what's to come...

Sure they missed some things, have minor mistakes here and there... No one's perfect... I'm sure technical mistakes in cars or tracks are minimized to less then 5% (keep in mind 5% roughly translates to 5% of 700 cars = 35 cars totally way off)...

With all the complaints and BS about how PD/sony should have made it... How about all you people complaining, form a company, and develop "the perfect" racing game with online-play, Drift mode, all the tracks, a car list that will satisfy everyone that also contains 0% errors, perfect physics, feature every known type of upgrade to a car, miss-firing systems, race-modifications, 2P battle mode with own garages, real-life damage, don't forget, it also has to be innovative, new and all be done in less then 3 years... Good luck...

I haven't played the game yet, and even after hearing all the complaints, and seeing all the previews, I'm still really looking forward to the game... I will take the game for what it is, just like GT3 which I still play till this day...

Oh well.. *puts on flame-suit*

No flame; I agree with you.

Some of you guys are complaining because you are tired of waiting for GT4. I bet when it hits stores in the USA and Europe every one will be happy. You don't like

B-spec mode or photo mode? ignore it.
You don't like the fact that once you buy a set of new rims for one car and then have to buy a new set to put on another? well face it, in real life if you buy rims for your car, they don't give you a hundred sets do they?
You don't like the fact that there are 50 different Lancers in the game? well drive only two, there are plenty of other cars to drive even if there are 50 variations of other cars. Besides if we take out the 40 variations of Lancers and Subarus then we will have about 400 totaly different cars to drive, and that is a lot!! more than Morza will have to offer!

I'm sure we are all going to love this game as much as we loved the others. And don't worry GT5 will blow us away. :sly:

That was one hell of a good post! :) 👍

I feel sorry for those who are not happy with the game.

There are those who beat games and those who play games. I play games, All those problems wont bother me one bit. I never beat GT2 or GT3. I just play them and look forward to b-spec mode so i can watch my car race around tracks since half my play time is watching those pretty replays.

Les all play it and voice our own opinions rather then judging the game from someone elses opinions. Nothing agisnt hyde, just those who shun the game without playing it.

This may be the first time LaBounti and I agree on anything. Cheers to you!

Its funny that just over 1 or 2 years ago, people would have been happy with ONLY the Ring and some new cars. Now everyone is pissed that its not online drifting with every D1 ride ever made.

Honestly, I am only dissapointed with a couple missing cars [Mazda MX-6 GT, 1st Gen RX7, RX4], but jesus, 700+ is amazing.

yeah, well said. 👍

i was trying to get something like that out in my earlier post. i have a tendency to get diarrhea of the mouth at times.

after stumbling into getting the no time limit japan demo to work on my HDD, my anticipation for the NA release is back up again. :dopey: :dopey:

i can't hardly wait!!....damn the haters

Hi, i've stood by the GT series since the start and every version has exceeded my expectations!! GT2 was massive, GT3 was technically amazing when it was released and still doesn't age to bad!!

GTConcept kept life until prologue (great insight to GT4) and now we have GT4!!!! I live in the UK and the game hasn't come quick enough! BUT no 2p garages and for the first time my expectations haven't been met. I'm gutted! The GT mode is top notch 10/10 but arcade is what could we say..... wasted and next to useless with out tuned cars. My friends and I can no longer pit our tuned beauties against each other!! WHY!!!

Photo mode and B-spec are great ORIGINAL ideas that add new life to traditional racing genre!

But i'm sorry to say i'd of waited another 6months for something that has more about it!

I've decided to carry on tuning and racing friends on GT3 as we all have large garages filled with our own personally tuned cars. So it was a sad day, i've put my Japanese copy on ebay.

I hold hope that GT4 the PAL version will have 2player garages as tuning cars on GT4, I can never race a human only computer AI!!!

I completely agree. To quote myself (which I love to do):

CrackHoor
That's the most annoying thing about the recent complaint threads to me - too many people criticizing the game who haven't played it yet. It's one thing to voice your opinions, but if you're just regurgitating what someone told you online are you really offering anything helpful? Some backlash or letdown after the hype is inevitable, but it shouldn't start before you've got the game.

I don't think screenshots and words are enough to base an overall judgement of the game, they never are. It's the 'feel' of the GT series that I love, and as long as that's still there I'll be happy. And I'll reserve any judgement until I've played it myself.

But hey, if you're scared away by all the panty-knotting and hand wringing around here you're completely free to NOT buy GT4 - nobody's forcing you.

I think what has happened is, & i dont know really how to say it is, but alot of folks have become victims of their own anticipation.

We have been tossing out so many wants, whats in, the game has this, the game has that, that the game has become old news before it is even 2 weeks old. i think there was so much talk about what they think should be in & what they heard or someone mentioned, that everyone started to believe it all was there.

i can rememeber before GTP, or atleast i knew of GTP, that i waited for the game without knowing anything about it. other than what i might have read in a magazine or something. i remember waiting for GT1. i read a small article in Autoweek about it coming out in May 1998. this was like Dec. or Jan. this was the first i had heard of it. well, being a import car guy, i couldn't wait till then. i bought a PSone from a pawn shop just for GT1. then, May 13 1998 it was on. when i got the game, it was very exciting, exploring & finding out what it was all about.
racing my own car at the time (1992 Civic Si, Captiva Blue) vs the world.
learning all the ins & outs of the game as i progressed. i literally put thousands of hours in before GT2 came out. i remember calling everyday asking when & if it arrived yet. even when it came out, i didn't know anything about the details of it. Learned as i went.

now, i find myself knowing everything about Gt4 & i can't say that the same anticipation is there.
the excitment seems to have fallen somewhere in the "this game sucks ass" & "I cant believe they hurried this piece of crap", granted those are exaggerations, but the sediment is there.

no one knows what is involved in making a game of this magnitude, so for everyone to be breaking balls for it taking so long, then to piss on their work for what whatever reason seems kind of ungrateful.
Now don't get it twisted, i'm not saying that we should be grateful for PD, SONY, or KY, but the fact that there is a GT4 to be played currently.
I'm not trying to give KY & PD a shine here, but just the benefit of the doubt.
You could also look at it in a worse case scenario, what if there wasn't a GT anymore. what if KY & PD said: "You know what? No thanks, we're good, thanks for playing...."

now think of all the other games that usually everyone here trys to defend GT against. well, you would have to find one of those to hold dear, because GT would be no more.

By the way, if what PD does isn't that hard to do, i wonder why none of these other games have seemed to master it.

I am sure that at the beginning of development, they have a certain amount of goals for the game that take alot of work. photomode for example. i bet that it took a whole lot of development time to integrate that feature. well, after laying down the millions of dollars i'm sure it cost to make. they couldn't justify just dropping it in favor of say drift competition, when drift competitions may not have been on the top of list of goals when development started.
so with SONY & the public demanding a release date & you have to make some decisions about what can stay & what has to go.

who knows about the 2 player garage thing. i am sure that there is a pretty good reason for its exclusion that we may never know, unless KY comes out & says why. it may have something to do with the online or something & what they have planned for online.
like the Sony exec said "he has a working version of the online game on his desk", this may mean that they have their own plans for how the online enviroment will be.
Just as in the points system, you have to focus on driving, rather than tuning & high HP.

paint shops? original colored cars? trust me, no color is original. if it was then you just made one up that no one has ever seen before.

buying & keeping wheels for all cars. well, the RL wheels from a Civic dont fit on a LMP car, so you may have to deal with it.
they seem to have changed the whole wheel & tire thing i believe anyways.

well sorry, i have typed a novel here, but i was getting down about this game & i didnt like it, so i had to speak up.

i am a day late, but i just fumbled around & with some trickery, got the no time limit Japan demo working last night on my HDD. and i am now in much anticipation for GT4 & the vast selection of cars to be able to run on the Ring. not to mention the **** load of other tracks in the game that nobody has ever seen before in the same game. i am into GT for the driving, cars, & tracks. which i believe what the core element of GT is. all the other stuff is just bells & wistles. if it's there great, if not, that's OK too. the amount of locations, cars, & improved graphics & physics is just what i would EXPECT from another GT game. just as a reference of how far it has come, dust off your PSone and fire up GT1 & see what one you like better.

just remember to only a scant 11 day ago, when the first images & talk of the game emerged. how great it was, how awesome it was.

now whats the talk?....it seems that, sometimes technology & the information age are not always that great.
Nice novel ! I've played the BMW demo for H0URS and it remains absolutely fantastic. People are being much to negative. Everyone seems to forget about the new physics wich are responsible for a truly fantastic and realistic driving experience. Who cares for wheels or reverselights. So many cars, so many tracks and everything looks ( and feels from what I have played with prologue and the demo) fantastic. I don't think GT 4 will dissapoint me.

Let me ask a very simple question (which will probably get lost in the shuffle, but here goes):

If GT4 is so "disappointing", please be so kind as to show us a better console racing game.

Once again, you people are so caught up on the negative.. the "bad things" about the game, that you're completely overlooking the fact that you're playing the best racing game in existence.

I can respect that Navy but I find that the majority of these grips are not faults in the game just people and their own dreams of what the game should be. Basically civicgsir hit the nail right on the head. Just like I said in another thread, "..If you give a mouse a cookie he wants a glass of milk.."

I have a few questions..
1. What races are 24hrs?
2. The Audi R8, is it only the yellow team infineon?
3. Is there 2 verions w/ Le Mans?

Thanks for those who can help me

I like the fact of alot of cars in the game, 700+ is simply astounding, Im completely stoked over this game, thank the ever loving god above me for Tunneling though, I want to Drag Race online (if its possible) so bad, I want to Tune that 64 GTO to perfection.

I have a theory of "For Great Expectation always comes Slight Dissapointment" It means that Sometimes we set the Bar too high we sometimes fall into all the hype (al'a Doom 3) it happens, there will be certain let downs im sure, we still dont know 3/4ths or more of the cars, And if the possabilities of Tunneling are there thats great to know! sure it may not be perfect, but at least its there, that comforts me alot. but overall I think this game will be pure Bliss, I just hope it comes out early early february (the 1st would be fantastic)

Civic, from Post #46 (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1391965&postcount=46), I respect your rather passionate view of GT4 and the GT series as a whole. I skimmed through a lot of the "novel" you posted, but yeah. Maybe it's just me, but I can't leave behind a lot of anticipation for this game. It was about December 2003 when I first even heard of Gran Turismo 4. I remember the grainy pictures of the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7 as a rally car. I recall the yellow Chevy Corvette ZO6. Ever since I've been a member of GT4, I've a lot about what GT4 will be like. PD is going to have to do a lot for me to totally HATE GT4. No online play - wasn't phased. No Ferrari or Porsche - wasn't phased. No 2P play with garages like in GT4 - I'm sorry, I'm not really the multiplayer type.

So yeah, the game may seem like more like "just another GT" based on some people. Some other people don't see things that way. If GT4 was marketed and modified to be better than all three GTs combined, I'll buy that claim. All it has to do is deliver. I want to be able to play the game for hours and hours being hooked until I can't sleep well at night. I want to be able to enjoy the same GT experience I've grown to love since the first GT game. If I can't have those experiences in a GT game, then... I'm simply not playing Gran Turismo 4.

Usually, I value personal opinions whether the opinion is "Best Game Ever" or "purple monkey dishwasher." I guess to look at this from a different side, if a person says GT4 is crap, we'd surely like to know why and how from that person. Regardless, I still want GT4. I'll reserve my opinion about this game until I actually play it, whether I'm 22 (on January 15th, that is) or 122. So if you're going to be negative about GT4, believable reasons would have to be given. None of that "GT4 sucks because I said so, b*tch," you dig? Anyhow, I still don't think it's all that bad. Haven't played ANYTHING playable from GT4, Prologue included. So I don't know for sure about this one.

Oh, and by the way... when it comes to opinions, how do you make up your mind if a game is good or not? People will produce positive and negative comments. You want to know if GT4 is good? You have to examine negative and positive comments. And because there are a lot of negative reactions doesn't mean it's the same old GT. If we're REAL fans of the series, we'll reserve our commentary until we actually PLAY the game, as LaBounti said.

Having said that, I need to get out of here.

Ok, for the ones that say GT4 is a dissapointment or sucks...just go buy an XBOX and Forza and stop whining like morons. Now that GT4 has "competition" you have another option plus half of the negative points you made were completely stupid to me and the rest were fairly easy to cope with. Either way you made some pointless thread over 4 pages long of repetitive complaints and comments. GET FORZA AND SHUT UP IF YA DONT LIKE GT4!

The fact that those wonderful fellows that live in the countries that have GT4 released already, or have bought overseas PS2 models, enjoy the fact that your how many months ahead of us PAL users....

700 cars, I dont care that there maybe 40 different WRX derivatives, I've read enough EVO, MOTOR, SPEED, TOPGEAR to know that they all handle slightly differently when stock, so lets see how good PD is..... aside from that, only crazy people decide they must have every car....I am one of them, but I think now is the time to make an exception to that rule...

I remeber when GT first was on teh market, and no-one had heard of it... I can remember playing it for the first time with around 12 other guys and us all ohhing and ahhhing for the sound, and physics of it.....When I eventually got the game, it took me a solid month of playing to reach 100% GT was the first game I ever finished, and although it had some pretty major short-comings, I still sometimes go back to it to appreciate what an awesome project GT has been...

Sure everyones gonna have a gripe about some part they left out of the game, be it drag or 2 player memory card battle, certain cars, you cant please everyone... The fact that now those that would never consider doing a 24hr race may actually try it out (I did 24hr leman race on Dreamcast... that was physically painful) and the concept of managing a car as it races, brilliant! How many player/team manager games are in the market place, its about time somebody included it in a racing game.

While the sharing of opinions and ideas is great, the fact that many are yet to sample this game in any form and are forming negative opinions really is quite disappointing. How can you say its no better than GT3 if you havent played it? How can you say a Pagani Zonda is better than a Koniggsegg CCR if you havent driven them both in the same conditions?

To dismiss a 'future' game and series that ultimately is the only reason this forum exsists, is dismissing the concepts and spirit for which the game was developed; to nurture a passion for cars in the next generation, and to help educate the masses about cars...

Isnt the preservation of the 'ideas' and 'heritage' of motor vehicle and motorsports in the 21st century far more important than racing your mate's worked Mitsubishi EVO VIII FQ340 with your modified Nismo R32 S-Tune GT-R VSpecII ? ...... I hope so....

GT4 is the best GT so far by far, some people just had way over the top expectations for this game.

The only letdown I didn't know about this game before its launch was no "garage battle", but tbh, I never did it in GT3 and I can't see why I should know. For some it's a minus, for some it isn't. There are some more flaws, but they are really minor and dont bother me at all.

I just couldn't seem to get Taniguchi's car to drift that well!
Can somebody supply me with some infomation on tunings and settings?
