AI is still very slow and no fixes for other problems

Tried in arcade and GT mode, but I always come 1st.
In the end I reduced my 485bhp down to 400bhp and I still won in the one make race.
How hard can it be to include an A1 slider like in prologue to increase the speed of the AI.
Also on long straights at high speed, my car is rocking left and right. Not realistic at all and very anoying. Don't really want to buy a steering wheel with deadzone built in as it's too much money.
Using Logitech EX atm and it works great for all the other sims.

What steering wheel you using? I use a G27, it has no deadzone built in and it has no issues with rocking back n forth within the game, never has had. They never said they were making the AI faster, just improving it. AI in GT games has always been slow, in every single one, apart from the Formula 1 championship in GT3, is the only time I can ever remember AI being fast in a GT game.

It is annoying though yeah, not much actual racing to be done with the AI.

I'm using the Logitech Formula EX...not very expensive but is ok in all other games.
The car seems to wander left and right slightly but with the F1 cars it is very bad and force feedback becomes very bumpy and noisy.
It's as though the track is curved in an arc and I'm in the middle. The wheel wants to make me go down to the left or down to the right. But the track is really flat, if that makes any sense.
It happens in most games but adding 1% deadzone usually fixes it.

Think I'll shut up about the AI as I've said enough :-)

I was racing a lot today and happen to think that the AI have been greatly improved.

Did you get beat? and if so please tell me which car and track you chose.

I ran the GVS 300k in the Caterham Fireblabe with a 60k ballast (driver weight) and all aids off. Tyres were SH.

AI was definitely more aggressive but also more intelligent.

Edit: Stopped after 32 laps to test the new save feature. Was in 2nd but was battling to stay there with the 3 cars behind.

That's crazy talk, I raced against those guys last night in two races one Stock car race and another in stock cars. The Stock car race I barely won because well the AI is very fast and they draft off one another and stick close real pack racing mentality here on Daytona.

Next race was on Tokyo 246 in an stock M3, started in 10th place out of 16. Made it to 7th, the AI don't ram me or anything but they sure don't let up even when you get close to them, they hold their line as best they could. I like this new AI, I will try out more arcade mode and see.

I set AI to max settings then chose the hardest setting for arcade mode. Mind you I drove cars on the recommended tires that they came on, RH for the Stock car and SH for the stock street car. Physics and AI tweaks are starting to shine in this game, no more twitchy turning with a DS3. Braking is subtle but you can actually feel ABS kick in on the DS3, go figure!

I'm with you shem. had some really close racing with the AI this morning.

its no good just reducing the bhp of you car if for example your cars 200kg lighter than the rest of the pack. also if you run a better tyre compound from the rest of the cars you are going to beat them.

I was using the Renult Clio Sports in the A-spec Tuner championship spent the whole race bateling for 5th. there was a yellow bird that binned it in the 3rd lap only to came back to take 4th place from me

There are only 3 settings for AI aren't there?

Beginner, intermediate and Pro?

It's how it should be. I'm very pleased with the racing now.

We now have the 1 - 10 difficulty settings from GT4 in arcade. :)

No just arcade mode using arcade cars.AI on Pro.
I'm starting to think I'm missing a setting or something.

A heck of a lot more to car performance then BHP, that's rookie talk.

you need to go to arcade settings in main settings menu (where you set up your controler/wheel) and you can set it there

The AI is so much better, here's a vid of a battle I just had for the lead of an F1 Seasonal Event.

I put a wheel on the kerb and next thing I know I'm getting past around the outside, this has never happened to me before in GT5. Fantastic stuff!

But also you can set the AI tenacity overall there is a slider 1-10 i think. I have it on max as this is how I like it, no nonsense AI try to win at all costs. Well not at all costs, this isn't FM3 on murderous intent AI. This does bode well, now if we can get the ability to change the tenacity of the AI in A Spec mode, then that would make my day. They should always drive like they do in FGT at all times. Drive the wheels off that thing.

Really? Are you all joking? I can't see any 1-10. Where is the setting?

Go to the option you set it there.

Thanks for that. Can't believe I missed that. Will give it a go. Brilliant.

Many Thanks

AI feels improved to me but could be placebo effect!

Need to race more...

Also make sure your tires matches the AI. I find it tough to win in stock car with sports hard most of the time in arcade professional.

While I do believe that the AI has improved a bit - after all this slider must be good for something eh? - I think I have seem similar AI maneuvers in the regular A-Spec FGT event; especially when confusing FGT with any drifting car / challenge :sly:

That's a lot better now after setting tenacity to 10.
Some close racing now.

Thanks.

Oh I know that....I was just desperately trying to get competition from the AI

Rookie talk:rolleyes:

All the AI setting in GT5p did was increase the class of car you were against, not the drivers ability [I think!!!]

Go test it yourself and see, I raced totally stock vehicle(M3) and max AI settings the grid had cars comparable to mine Alfa C8, Tuscan Speed 6 and other cars, all definitely in the same PP range as my car, just hard to beat them now as you don't have any advantage except ace driving skills.

I just did the FGT seasonal event, i thought the AI was perhaps even worse to be honest. Didnt get a good idea of them on High Speed Ring, but I did manage to lap the entire field. At Nurburgring I had big issues with the AI.... They kept stopping off for takeway at each corner and they got in my way, not to mention I wanted some takeaway too but I had to win the race.

Fortunately because they spent so much time deciding what to eat at every corner I didnt have many issues getting infront, apart from the few times I smashed into the back of the AI because I was going 70mph faster than them around the corners.

They seem to do this.

Spot corner .
Brake early .
Start to turn, off throttle.
Slowly navigate the corner
Get confused about when to use throttle.
Decide to use it when they are perfectly straight.
Still go slower than me, even in a straight line.

I don't often drive the FGT because I generally hate it, so I don't remember what the AI was like before aside from being slow, but the AI cannot drive it now, thats for sure.

I just did the FGT seasonal event
I don't know if that has been asked or even sorted already, but when you change the AI behaviour under settings > arcade ... how much does this affect A-Spec, Seasonals, etc. anyway? Just arcade? That would at least explain why you do not see any improved AI in seasonals ...
