AI is still very slow and no fixes for other problems

What AI difficulty do you all use? (Beginner, intermediate or Professional)
and does the AI difficulty mentioned above effect A-spec?

I don't know if that has been asked or even sorted already, but when you change the AI behaviour under settings > arcade ... how much does this affect A-Spec, Seasonals, etc. anyway? Just arcade? That would at least explain why you do not see any improved AI in seasonals ...

It's not selectable in any other mode, why is beyond me. Why don't PD allow us to select the difficulty of that AI and change the winnings accordingly. Try arcade race as the AI for the regular sections of the game isn't affected by those settings. It's set to whatever PD sets it to.

The ai are still incredibly easy, ive tried multiple tracks and car combos, proffesional leve, with aggressiveness at 0,5 and 10...i won every race easy and flew past them in underpowered cars..

they seem to react better yes,but they certainly arent any harder,at least for me.

They seem to do this.

Spot corner .
Brake early .
Start to turn, off throttle.
Slowly navigate the corner
Get confused about when to use throttle.
Decide to use it when they are perfectly straight.
Still go slower than me, even in a straight line.

This is spot on.

I did a test at Monza in the new GTR 2011 race car, with 7 AI (practice mode) same car race. The AI still turn into me to follow their race line when I am beside them and seem to take no notice of my position when I am around them, so they still aren't situationally aware in any way. Honestly the best AI are probably Rfactor (which arent great) and F1 2011 (fast but also not that great), certaintly leagues better than GT5's.

On A-spec mode, the AI still slow down when you pass them, but now they seem to do it only when completely side to side and they dont wait 5sec to re-put the pedal to the metal

AI is still bad. Put the AI at the highest + professional and did a 3 lap SuperGT race on Le Mans. Finished 25 seconds ahead. They lose 3 seconds in the last sector alone (without corner cutting) Good thing we have online racing:D

They made the AI faster, but they STILL follow the racing line like zombies making it incredibly easy to overtake...

I think there's a quite simple logic behind all of this.

a) Kaz believes that the true fans have completed A-Spec already anyway; they rather seek their challenge in online battles.

b) GT5 has most likely also attracted new players unfamiliar with previous GT / racing titles - for them A-Spec in all it's aspects (choice of car, tuning, etc.) should be challenging enough.

c) More experienced drivers who for whatever reasons do not play online are still able to raise the pace in arcade - I did the Nurb in Arcade with AI-10 and Professional. I took the new Nissan, all opponents were fitted with the Citroen GT (white, all white ... looked a bit odd) - easy, really. As said something must have been improved, but still ... it's not too difficult.

I appreciate that, while they're still slow as molasses, the AI drivers seem to put an effort in. I was passed on the outside under braking for the first corner at Deep Forest. I was only slowing as much as the AI car in front of me when the passing car, a Cadillac Cien, blew by both of us.

In the same race, I also put my Mach 1 side by side with an Enzo and instead of taking the position easily, the Enzo stayed side by side until I was able to get by on my own accord.

Also overtook a VW Nardo concept through a corner only to have him blow by on the straight and take a different line on the next corner as I approached again.

Happened to me quite a few times, too today. Especially if I tried to race clean on low grip tyres the AI now do seem to put their back into it.

Can't really understand what folks are complaining about. Maybe they didn't find the option in the menu or overlooked AI has changed for arcade mode only?

Definitely a big improvement.

Seriously the thing I hate most is when someone on here says something about the AI still following the prescribed line...seriously do you watch racing? Everyone drives a prescribed line because it's fast and requires less effort on the drive, the only time they deviate is when grip forces them to or they are driving aggressive(passing or just out braked another car). GT5 AI does not doggegly fight for the line all the time, many times they will take another line through a corner if they had ample time becoming aware of your presence.

I was just playing some FM4 and I tell you now the AI in that game feels similar to GT5 max setting, but FM4 AI really doesn't care if your car is near by or not, they will sideswipe and seriously rarely back off even when you take the inside. They do chase you down and drive much better when you are ahead of the pack. AI is only so good on consoles, but many of the follow the line complainers need to learn to drive and understand overtaking.

As much as I have spammed races in A Spec, the AI isn't going to ram into you when you are along side them, I watch them constantly move away even on narrow roads like Mulsanne straight. If they are plowing into you then that is down to randomness in the personality AI routines. I hope that they just let the AI drive like it has nothing to fear, like the majority of hamfisted drivers I have actually seen online, and actually battle to the end to take corners.

AI is improved, this is a update not a brand new game. Actually in many new game as well the AI is just as bad but do better times. It depends

The AI is so much better, here's a vid of a battle I just had for the lead of an F1 Seasonal Event.

I put a wheel on the kerb and next thing I know I'm getting past around the outside, this has never happened to me before in GT5. Fantastic stuff!

but the AI difficullty hasnt changed in GT mode....or did it? i havnt noticed much of a change in any mode.

they caught up because you spun.

i got gold in all those FGT seasonal races and was 5 seconds minimum lead

The AI in arcade mode (when you set their difficulty to 10 in the main options menu) are much more aggressive.

While I barely ever played arcade mode in the past, I tried it out today and it was not a walk in the park like A-Spec is. As others have said, I was overtaken under braking on the outside a few times and the AI would not give up places easily. They would drive side by side with me down the straights and if they had a faster car they would pull ahead and claim the position. One car would not give up and battled me for several corners.

This was using the arcade S2000 at the Nurburgring. No aids except ABS 1. Getting in first without any contact was not stupid easy like it is in A-Spec.
