Very true... I used a controller from GT1 on until about 3 months ago, got a DFP, because I thought 250euros for the G25 was a little bit too much for my first wheel :) anyway my point is, its harder to get the same times with a controller than it is with a wheel.... only thing with a wheel is, you have to get use to it when you first get it... everything is different and the use of your feet is weird at first as well if youre use to a controller all the time...:sly:đź‘Ť

Throttle control is key in my opinion. đź‘Ť Why not watch the top times for, let's say, the NSX or maybe the Vette Z06 around Suzuka. It should help you out.

How can I do that if I can't connect my PS3 to the internet? :(
 
Hi all :) abs 1 for me, and tcs 1-3 depending on the car. No assisted steering, asm or driving line

Probably more tcs than most, but i'm a bit of a 'straighten it up and mash the pedal' merchant :guilty: :lol:
 
I use the G25 (a great wheel) with occasional use of the clutch. I set Active Steering to strong and find that it dramatically affects lap times. Power steering on and all other aids are set to off.
 
no aids for me, except ABS set to 1. The TCS and ASM slow my lap times a bunch except for when i use the 599, i'll sometimes tune in 3 notches in the TCS to keep the bull a bit more tamed.
 
Something I have noticed since getting my wheel 2 months ago,the 111R tuned Lotus is impossible for me to drive with my wheel.The car is all over the place.I'm not the best out there but im no novice either,I've won my share of races on a variety of tracks,but I can not figure this one out.Checked with some online guys who drive the Lotus well they all use controller.Can anyone advise on this.I have played with settings FF up & down getting flustered.:crazy:
 
This happens without regard to setup,even in events where you cant tune.for example the new Lotus event at HSR the tuning is default still happens.:grumpy:

I'm fairly ****e at driving but could handle this with my old wheel, not tried it on the new wheel, maybe it's a lot more sensitive to drive as the ability to take the corners at speed is far greater than any other car, so if all aids are off, would imagine the need to take caution when driving this car
 
Every time I see this thread title, I read it as "AIDS, detrimental to racing?".

But yeah, I think most AIDS hurt lap times. :/
 
Active steering will help very much with the lotus. I think the key to driving the lotus well is to limit your steering movements. I guess it's steering ratio is very quick, so you should use very little movements of your steering wheel and wait for the car to turn in.

đź‘Ť As with most MR cars,little steering wheel movement is required,at least on my driving skills.The MR cars seem like they can control their own steering,you just have to be good at throttle control to compensate for the steering aspect
 
ABS on 1

Everything else off, manual gears using a G25 wheel.

I only use Active Steering for cars that are a real handful (ie TVR Tuscan Speed Six & Ford GT40).
 
With a Driving Force Pro I use ASM/TCS on 0, ABS on 1 with feedback on 10. With the DS3/Sixaxis, I use pretty much the same, actually, minus the feedback bit because it makes no difference of course!

There aren't any cars to cause that much trouble with wheelspin due to fat fingers on GT5p, though there were on GT4, but then on GT4 you were racing against AI's which weren't quite as competitive or as good as some of the people you find online.

I have this problem as well, at first I thought it was just me but then after trying every possible combination of suspension set ups and STILL spinning on the first corner of Suzuka, I guessed it wasn't. Then I gave up and went back to the S1 Elise, tuned of course... I never really got on with the 111R, and the fact it seemed more eager to go in circles than forward when I used my Driving Force Pro... Straw/camel/back springs to mind
