So I find this whole ping test weird. From my computer I get pings of 15 with zero jitter and zero packet loss (packet loss part of test doesn't work with the PS3, something about the java script not being compatible) but the PS3 browser gives results that are at least 3x's greater/worse, I suspect we all get similar results. I don't know how else to test the ping/Internet connection. Between the pingtest.net and testing the connection from the Internet setup of the XMB I don't know what else to do.

I really think mics have to go, I know I ready somewhere that the voice chat eats more resources than the games themselves.

This is some voodoo s##t, no real rhyme or reason, I was in a lobby with 4 USA, 3 MEXICO, 6 from GERMANY, 1 dude from ITALY maxing out at 16 players through out the 2 hours with no problems that I could tell

I tested with Pingtest 6 times in a row. My ping was at 6 and hit 4 and 3's. As long as we have stable jitter we should be ok. Mics. do take up more bandwidth than the racing.

brett, I just installed dd-wrt on my router today and am now able to monitor bandwidth usage in real time. I'm going to start testing it tonight to see just how much bandwidth we need with different scenarios.

Let's get this filled in. Points contenders only. DA, Zoh and Envy will be asked to fill up a room of 12.

This week, open lobby, fixed host, mics. disabled.

I'm really curious to see how much a room of 16 no mics. uses vs. 16 with mics.

So am I. I've searched everywhere for the answer to just how much bandwidth is used and I've never found a solid answer from any source that I could trust. I finally decided to just flash my router with the dd-wrt firmware so I could test it myself.

When you click on your lounge settings from your home screen it will tell you your bandwitdh, whether it low, high, etc. If its anything below standard, you should stay with A-spec.

Is that beating around the bush?

No sir :)

I wonder why if I run a speed test from my computer I get 25+ down/3-4 up, but the ps3 network test only gives 6 down/2 up. I might try some new network cables.

My lounge settings says NAT 2, bandwidth high.

1. ALLIn
2. RR
3. Jess
4. Bo
5. cB
6. ncr
7. ito
8. Brett
9. supersnake
10. dj

12. scorp.

Those are the regulars who have been around.

Logan can't make it and Mattics is not around unfortunately.

I think DA was first to add so he gets the spot for the 22nd if any of the regulars can't make it. Next Zoh then Envy if we have three out.

For Jess.

Bo's not trying to figure out his speed. He is trying to figure out how much bandwidth the game uses with mics. vs. no mics., full lounge vs. non full lounge as so on.

I was getting 16 down 1.42 up on most California servers. I went to Washington servers and was hitting 25 down 1.42 up. Went to N.Y. Severs and went up to 33 down and 6 up. Came back to an L.A. server and was 20 down 2.5 up. I think Cali is congested. Look at all the West Coasters ping. Brett your an exception because your in the sticks. All PS3 testing.

Oh ok

The monitor is working fine. 👍 So far I've only tried it with me in my lounge by myself running laps. At this point I have no way of saving a log of the graph, it takes about 5min for the data to scroll off screen in the graph so I'm thinking about using an automatic screen capture app to save a ss every 10-15min. My pc and ps3 are in different rooms so I can't watch it as I drive, I thought about capturing as a video, but that would be a lot of hassle, and really of no benefit.

I'm guessing they adjusted to the distance of the race. The shorter the laps, the faster the tire wear. I dunno, I could be wrong.

Hey i'm not going to be able to make this weeks race. I have to work.

Sorry you can't make it. But thanks for letting us know ahead of time.

DA your in for the 22nd now.

Dr Dre
"If/when" we get the connection issues straight, any thoughts on a doubleheader, DRC/SPA??

Scratch that. Didn't think we were still racing Daytona.

Awesome. Now I have something to live for (jk)!

So what are we doing about the new tire wear update? Free restrictions on tires?

I have plans Thursday night so I wont be on, next week though.
