Hey Guys, I'd like to do my part in having one of the last posts in 2011 be a positive one. Thank you to those of you that I've traded paint, or practiced with. I hope you have a great New Year. Hopefully in 2012 we'll be able to acknowledge that we each have our own opinion and there's a good chance that at least one person isn't going to agree with us. We all have our own challenges in our lives and we gather here to forget those challenges and join in our common interest... RACING! Let's keep it fun and focus our energy on improving our league(s), which ever ones we race in.

Well said friend. Happy New year to all!

Dr Dre
when I "proposed" the tire idea, and it was labeled "dumb". Now all of a sudden its all good to go. Weird.

Nope.

AllinWitJT
As soon as you run open tires your going to get guys running mediums up front and softs in the back. Dumb. Either or. Not open.

Although I did not call your proposal dumb I did in fact fail to mention at that time open tire sets may be considered for future races. I labeled the action of running mixed tire grades as dumb. I made an assumption of many not of you.

On a side note I'm running TCS 1 for Spa. I like it as much as I like to over shift. I run a very non conventional LSD for turn in/rotation and compensate with TCS. It does not help with speed or tire wear the way I run the LSD and/or drive.

Happy New Years to all of my friends! May this year bring you all you wish for and more!

Right back at ya, DJ. Sometimes, it seems really strange to me, when I think about how strong of friendships we've been able to make over the past year, while playing a game online. It's still a little odd to me, but very cool. As RR has stated, the racing is secondary.(and he's really fast). Some of us get it, some don't. Happy New Year to all you wackos.

Happy New Year to all my racing buds!

Thanks DJ for starting up STC and JT and RR for the outgrowth series. Looks like we'll be booked till late Spring!

After driving over 1000 miles last week w/9 yr old twins, 28 laps @Spa will be a Sunday cruise. Watched some racing go-karts on Daytona Thursday. A great way to get ignored: show up at the Orlando Ferrari/Maserati dealer in a 7 year old minivan w/ 2 kids. "What, NO test drives!" Those cars are wicked beautiful, especially the interiors.

Ok since we are going to try the unrestricted tire deal as well as the practice in my lounge then jump to open room, qualifying will be held in the open lobby. The reason you may ask?Well, you're going to qualify with the tires you are going to start the race with.:)

Good idea. I was not going to hold a tire restricted qualifying round but after reading it, it is the right thing to do.

Brett suggested that we do not set the room with visible damage on. One less thing for the CPU/clock/code to process.

Brett please post the link here to the steering wheel thread.

All members, please read the entire steering wheel thread. It's not just us. Look at my replay screenshot of the ACR race below.

Again. For Spa. You may run any race tire you choose for as long or as little as you like. You can switch race compounds if you choose to during the race as well. Start with hards and go to softs for instance.

I was going to bring that up. It's really the only way you can do it, if we qualified in seperate rooms it would be possible to change car settings between qualifying and the race. (I wish we could do that sometimes, hehehe)

I've read that steering wheel thread, and while it does show that others are having the same issues, the main point of the thread, that it affects wheel users more, is ridiculous in my book.

Right. I do not agree with the wheel issue either but everything else is real interesting.

I was checking out that thread too. The point was brought up with things getting worse after the big physics update, it seems like that's when we started having the lap time inconsistencies. It just makes sense that the less processing needed during a race the more likely it will run smoother.

Good idea with cutting out Visible Damage, just one less item to process. Hopefully PD can be made aware of this big problem and fix it soon. Kaz was posting how online was the real future of the GT series when the physics update occurred. Not with this much consumer dissatisfaction.

Here's the steering wheel thread, it started out as a steering wheel problem but has grown to more. It seems to be drawing in some of the bigger leagues and their drivers. They're seeing the lap time changes that we see between qualifying and racing and slow down during the race. They're requesting help for testing out the problems - this might be a good place for Jess, JT, RR (can't think of who else, sorry don't mean to leave anyone else out) to contribute, if they have the time, because they know what they run and run consistent lap times.

I don't think JT explained the "Replays cannot be taken at face value". He was seeing this appear in different places each time he replayed the replay, sometimes it would go away, sometimes they would appear in the sky and other times their heads would show through the track. I just don't understand how this could happen during a replay, I would think the values would be set in stone. Why is there random information being placed in the replay each time it is viewed? What else could be changing? Lap times? Finish results? Could somebody just disappear from an event?

I agree. In fact there were posts in that thread of DS3 users that had the problem. We could start reducing the "realistic settings" that we use until the problem goes away. I'm not saying that we return it to an arcade game, just try to prove the theory that the processor is working too hard. Maybe we could set up a lobby with mics and try to make it gag, then turn off visible damage and others until the problem goes away. If it doesn't go away it could possibly be the PSD servers.

Don't say anything about PD/Sony servers, that causes a **** storm:) as we found out with the thread that JT started about PD servers being garbage. Seems to be a network coding issue.

I just don't understand how a replay can change from one viewing to the next. Once it's saved it should just be hard data, it doesn't seem possible that it can change. I can see replays being different for each user, that's a known fact. What happens if JT uploads the replay for us to download, would it change for us when we veiw it?

BTW: I uploaded my replay for JT to check out the differences in what I get to what he gets. If anyone else is interested in downloading my replay to see how it differs from their own, just let me know.

I've been racing online (Xbox 360) for the past 7 years. Yes there has been some lag issues, mostly with people from Europe and Brazil. I have never seen it this bad and on a consistent basis. If online is the future of the GT series PD needs to get together with the boys at Turn10 and get there **** figured out

I'm completely baffled as to how this happened. I've yet to check my replay to see if it happens. I think he was just fast forwarding/rewinding when he noticed.

Indeed. We should be worried about racing, not the technical details of how to host online lounges/lobbies.

I have to say the car handling physics and the track details in this game are outstanding. But I'd rather have no lobby issues than look at a pretty track. Forza let's you design custom liveries with thousands of layers on your cars. Even with full rooms and custom paint schemes the lag issues weren't this bad

I feel like gran turismo is going to lag themselves behind forza.
