An idol. A true champ. A brave fighter. And above all a very nice guy. Your suffering is now over, my friend. Ciao, Alex! And he also died May 1st...

He was and will always be a hero to me.
Us italians always saw him as a true point of pride and a bonafide legend, and see the kind of impact he had on the entire world (not just in motorsport) just warms my heart.

I also wanna highlight the accolades he had in handcycling; he actually took that sport up before committing in a full-time racing seat.
He then got serious and after a couple of years, he achieved a 4th place in the handcycling division of the 2007 NYC Marathon after only 4 weeks of training, eventually winning it in the 2011 race.
AND he also won 2 gold medals and a silver one in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London and another gold and silver medals in the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

A man like no other.
R.I.P. you legend, he will be missed.

Alex Zanardi died yesterday evening at the age of 59, peacefully with his family by his side.

Rest in peace, Alex.

:(
RIP Zanardi... I also fondly remember about ever driving as him on the underrated masterpieces of PlayStation 1 Racing games: Newman Haas Racing. On that game, there is another driver included on that game which is now, also passed away, Gil de Ferran.
