Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm '20 - The Italian family hauler that woke up and chose violence.

Alright, I know exactly what you guys are thinking: "Dude, why are you making ANOTHER Giulia GTAm? We already have a bunch of them."

Hear me out, grab a coffee, and let me tell you a little story about why I went down this rabbit hole.

I love the GTAm, so I went looking for the definitive version for AC. From what I can tell, there are basically three "decent" models floating around the community right now, but they all had things that bugged me:

  1. Opperslang's...

May I remind you that I personally edited Slang's version a while ago with your same intents on optimizing it while also making it look as real as possible, I had help from Bruno/EASY (yes, HIM) to make LODs for it, while someone on Telegram called Ilyes2265 (Ilyes Dadi) edited its physics to make it behave more realistically. Lastly someone called VikingFreakz on Discord added a clear coat to its body to make it look more metallic and improved its emblems to make them look realistic as well. It's still missing blurred wheels and has the generic Android Auto CSP API, and I was thinking of having someone recreate its infotainment screens from the real car, until I read that CSP team made their own recreation from scratch, although its based on the pre-2020 version before the update so its still unaccurate to the real car. I also took all of its colors from EVO and its values for each (tho the RGB values where taken from a site called PaintRef).

Yeah I deleted its other skins with the decals on it since I also remade its AO for the body along the other materials as well, such as carbon using a config and textures I bought from someone's GumRoad store I forgot the name of and using two generic textures for AO and map instead of baked ones which were shared by Stelian Visu on Telegram a while back and they pretty much work the same if not better than baked ones while saving a lot of file size for the KN5 model which is pretty much my own dirty little optimization trick I use for any of my mods and reworks.

If you happen to have a Discord account like I do, then perhaps we can discuss more about my rework of the Giulia among others I did in the past there if you like: tonysss

I'm not gonna download yours since mine is almost the definitive version I wanted in AC with proper realism and optimization balance unlike anyone else does in the entire community.

Hey Tony, thanks for sharing all of that. It sounds like you and that group have put a massive amount of effort into optimizing Opperslang's version!

That being said, I'm definitely going to continue with my own release, and here is why:

First, since you're using Slang's model as a base, why not collaborate directly with him to officially update his release? I’ve already put a lot of hard work into porting this specific AC EVO mesh, so I wouldn't want to just scrap my project to use an older, heavier model. I’m a big believer in healthy competition, having multiple good options out there is great for the community, and people can just choose whichever version fits their setup best.

Second, if you really want the ultimate version, why not apply your work to my model instead? From what you described, your changelog is mostly physics, paint values, AO/carbon config tricks, and clearcoats. My EVO model already has the animated wheel blur and the LUA dash setup that you mentioned you were missing.

If you want to port your physics and config improvements over to my EVO mesh, I’d be more than happy to update my mod with them and put you, Bruno, Ilyes, and VikingFreakz right at the top of the credits.

Let me know what you think! If you'd rather stick to the Slang base, no hard feelings at all, and best of luck with your definitive version!

Basically Slang is kind of a toxic dick on Discord, as with (almost) the rest of the modders there, I had a hard time with him and his "colleagues" in a server called Binary Motors before they banned me (I think because I shared pics of one of my reworks of one of their cars and they immediately got salty over it thinking that I graphically raped ruined it, which in reality is quite the opposite instead, they'll never learn...), and this wasn't the first time I got banned in a Discord server and will never be the last either I fear. I'd rather work with those whom I trust upon and never backstab me all of a sudden bethraying me and going their own way like lone wolves. This is why I'm forming my own modding team called PSYGA Studios with a modeler (JxYD), track designer (General Bleedous) and physics creator (Ilyes Dadi) already on board, I'm only missing sound creator and lua programmer. I also want to form my own community too without anyone toxic opposing all of my modding standards and ideas for AC ever again, instead collaborating together on mods and sharing feedbacks on what needs to be improved and fixed, just like the good 'ol times of rFactor 1 and GTR2 I dearly miss so badly.

I personally think the CSR2/3 model is the most accurate out of all of them, besides including half of the engine too which is always nice to see in my book, despite not many caring at all. I always tend to work on the most accurate model of a car available, since not all Forza and GT models are perfectly accurate at all, let alone other games as well. I think I could include the wheel blur models from your AC EVO conversion on my rework of Slang's CSR2 conversion, I will credit you obv. of course like I did with the rest who helped me out on it. While as for the LUA dash recreation, I think I'll pass on the CSP one and prefer having someone recreating the current one from 2020 onwards for authenticity, the AC EVO model already has some of its screens recreated as textures so its a good starting point for someone recreating its entire updated infotainment system.

Cool car, but this car drives like it has a broken LSD. Whenever you get one power with any amount of lateral load you just spin up the inside rear tire and leaving a singular long black tire mark.

Hey, thanks for giving the car a spin and for the feedback!

You're totally right, spinning the inside tire like that definitely sounds like it's acting like an open diff instead of a proper LSD. I'll be completely honest with you, physics and data tweaking are definitely not my strong suit (which is why I borrowed the physics for this release lol). I wouldn't even know where to begin to troubleshoot or fix the LSD values in the data folder.

If you or anyone else reading this happens to be a physics wizard and knows how to adjust the differential settings, feel free to tweak it and send the file my way! I’d be more than happy to include the fix in the next update and give you full credit.

Thanks anyway for trying it out and letting me know!
