Yeah, the publicity photos make good use of myspace angles.

I still want to see in-public photos of the rear of the car though. I hope that at least looks as nice as it did.

Not many hatchbacks look flattering from the direct front or rear. Slightly more saloons do, but it's not the best angle to view a car (nor a very common one - viewing from the front means getting run over :p). Seems to me as if we see cars mostly from the "myspace angle", as you appropriately called it - either when driving towards it, or walking beside a car.

At the motorshow they had 2 mi.to's on display. On looked tall and podgy, whilst the other which had bigger alloys and sat lower looked purposeful. I think its like with all superminis. The lower spec models will look like ass or not too great, and the sportier models simply awesome!

OMG the angles!!!!! Not the angles!!!!!!

Bring to the US, and let's go SoCal on it and drop her to the bump stops

Is it as good to drive as a Mazda3, and what's the mileage, though?

The way that Autoblog described their drive, they make it sound like this is the best hatchback since the origional GTI. Small, lightweight, willing to accept punishment... The way the Italians have always done it. As far as gas mileage goes, I wouldn't expect it to be class-leading, but it couldn't be any worse than the comparable 2.3S in the Mazda3.

Diesel Fiats are over 40MPG - and the smaller petrols are there, too. The Fiat Bravo Ecothingy diesel they have actually got over 60MPG in TopGear's hands - and the Bravo is bigger (Golf-sized, I think?). Italian cars are class-leading when it comes to economy...

Really? I had thought they'd be a bit more 'thirsty' than the others. I knew the Germans and the French were up there (I had assumed they'd have taken the top spot), but meh, its alright.

Italian cars are also good at supporting the economy, what with labor wages on car repairs. :p

Fiat is outstandingly good with diesels. Maybe not VW good, but no one else is either.

For some reason I was under the assumption that Peugeot/Citroen had the corner on the small diesel market in Europe. I'm not sure why...

They do - their main focus is diesels and smaller petrols (the BMW-PSA 1.6l), and. In terms of economy, VW isn't the top dog out there, though. These little diesels all get very remarkable mileage figures (all combined):

For the minis, a Peugeot 207HDi 1.6l gets 62MPG, VW Polo TDi 61MPG. In the bigger class, a VW Golf gets 53 (the regular small diesel), and a Fiat Bravo 52 - while their ubergreen versions, the Ecosomething (for Fiat) and BlueMotion (for VW), get 62MPG. I CBA to search for more.
