I think that the author means that every car in the demo is premium.

Common sense says this isn't true at all. 1200 premium cars in 3 years? Impossible.

Hmm, who to believe. A direct statement from the game creator or mercurynews.com?

EDIT: Kaz said that they consider them more or less at the same level because there is no functional difference, that's why the distinction is gone.

I hope the close this thread real soon.

I think they've misunderstood something, they've done away with the 'Premium' and 'Standard' cars in the way that there's no distinction between them now and they're not labeled, perhaps they got the wrong end of the stick. They're still there, but they're not called 'Standard' anymore...

True, that's indeed impossible

Yes but there is still a visual difference so to call them 'premium' would be very misleading.

I tend to believe objective media outlets, who have no stake in the success or failure of a business, than the creator of a game who has a clear stake in the PR.

Great move if true.

From the link, about Forza, "Players will even see the reflection of the dashboard on the windshield as they drive."

I've been known to paint my dashboard matte black to minimize that reflection and now game designers are programming it into the game? Ugh.

But in this case it's the media outlet making the game sound better than it is and secondly, where are they going to get this information from? The creator of the game....

It's been said before and discussed.

"we are not going to differentiate between premium and standard cars anymore when we move on to GT6 because we aim to get rid of all the functional differences between the two. They will now have the same functions. More or less anyway."

Simples, no standard cars. Will there be different levels/types of cars? probably. Will whiners call some cars "standard" cars? you bet your pretty little #$@ they would!

Valid points.

With Gran Turismo 6, Polyphony Digital offers 17 new tracks and 1,200 cars on Day 1. The game does away with premium and standard vehicles. It makes every car premium and that means each one has thoroughly detailed interiors and exteriors.

We know that isn't true. We've known that wasn't true since we first heard news of GT6, because that was one of the first things that was talked about.
We won’t be making all the Standard cars from GT5 into Premium models, and we won’t make all of the GT5′s Standard cars fully “Premiumized”.
In terms of graphics quality, the bad quality Standard models we’ve updated so they look better.
If all of the cars were going to be Premium, PD would be running around talking it up like there is no tomorrow.

I think it might be possible, because some of the car might have the similar interor. They can use it instead.

Yea you are right I hate that too.

There are some games that simulate reflections in the windshield (dirt, NFS Shift) and it rendered the cockpit views of those game unusable for me. In Dirt, I sometimes even crashed the car into something, to get rid of the windshield.

In reality, if you concentrate on the street your brain "ignores" the reflections (up to a certain point at least). But in a game your brain already ignores the area around your TV screen and as there is no visual depth in a game, the reflections just block your view.

To me PD goes the right way with the "invisible" windshield.

I fully believe the exteriors on almost all cars will look great. There is a reason PDI is allowing every car in the game to be taken into photo mode after all.

I just see the difference between the two as one group having fully modeled interiors while others do not.

I personally would love to see all the (for examples) Mazda's share a cockpit if they are close in design.

That article is highly inaccurate. Both Kazunori (in this interview) and another Sony representative confirmed to me that not all of the cars will have interior views in GT6.
