You must have missed the thread about it ("some sob has gt4", I believe it's called)... this is old news as of a couple days ago, I believe.

Sorry about this, but wow, how could they...
A few stores got it and were supposed to wait for the release date, but they decided to release it anyway. Kazunori was in Japan, from an earlier report, making sure that this didn't happen in there. Why, I don't know. If they have the game, then release it, I say. I don't think Korean and Chinese stores will get a shipment in that early again.

ok i hear all this controvesy about that GT4 game being released already....but to my knowledge I have not seen anyone post stuff and features that are included....isnt there someone from Taiwan in all of GTPlanet......geezzz!!!!!!

It has just been released in the warez scene. "Gran_Turismo_4_JAP_PS2DVD9-GANT"

Quite a hefty download too, 57x100meg files. And I don't know how to get it, so don't bother asking me.

It was only a matter of time.

due to the nature of these forums, i can't mention the problems... ~*no comment*~

Hehe. Which would indicate the "problem" may be limited to pirated copies, in which case most of us have nothing to worry about. :)

I don't think that's the only problem. The game is dual layered and some people are having trouble with it working because of DREs. The design flaw of the older PS2 consoles is to blame.

Well, he mentioned that he "can't discuss the problems" here because of the Terms of Service. And the TOS doesn't mention console faults, which kind of narrows it down.

It could be that, you never know.. dual-layer burned discs are very different from their pressed counterparts.

damn it
dont think my PS2 can read DVD+R DL

A good way to test if your PS2 can read DL discs is to just try to play a DL DVD movie. There are tonnes out there if you dont already own some.

Try different parts of the movie, different audio and if you get no problems then you should be fine.

DL are fine, since i have no problem running GTA:SA

just dunno if i should spend 15 bux for a DL dvd+R and dunno if my PS2 will read it or not

I don't want to open a new thread (I am not allowed to do it since I am so new here, or am I?)

I was going to put "Finding Nemo" into my Japanese PS2 to see if it would work or not. In the back of its DVD case it said that it was indeed a dual-layered format DVD. I ended up putting it into my PS2 and I didn't get a DRE or any bizarre noise (Just ordinary game reading sounds). Sadly, it didn't allow me to play it because of some regional restriction, and the texts were written in Japanese: "Discs not allowed to play. Regional restriction" Or something like that. (Keep in mind that the movie is a real copy) So I think my PS2 is fine playing Dual-layered games. To ensure that my PS2 didn't break down after receiving that stupid message, I put in my FFX (Again, real copy) and it played normally. Although right now I feel kind of relieved, I have two questions:

1) I know "Finding Nemo" is a dual-layered DVD, but I found out that it is a 7.56 GB format. Obivously GT4 will be 8.5 GB or higher. Will I still be fine when I will be playing GT4 finally?

2) Is it normal for my PS2 to receive such a regional restriction message after playing a foreign movie in a Japanese PS2. (I know this question is kind of sensitive..."
