Also has anyone noticed that GT4 prologue NY track looks better than NY track on GT4?

Cars with wrong stats (in GT3 e.g. Lister & Audi TT, now probably Vertigo), wrong spelling (Citta di Aria, Caribra), etc ... and now this ... it seems that quality control is not Polyphony's strongest point.

'Mushy', very technical term being used here! I've got every GT to date and am getting the BMW demo soon so I'll report back soon.

So we're moaning about one track not overly focused! Pah! How many games have 200 Chmpionship's, 650 odd cars from many eras, car tuning, 50 courses. It's bound to have a few minor faults! It's got the Nurburgring!
 
Hi agian! I've read through some comments, very interesting! Just to clear up a few things, i'm not a new users trying to spoil or raise doubt about the GT4 games! I'm a massive fan with 100% on GT3 etc.

I just think that GT is all about racing perfection (physics especially) and some of my points raise detract from the experience.

And this quote above I agree with entirly!!!! Ignore thw fact that textures are a little out of focus on NY compared to GTP, ignore the slight stuttering which RARELY happens when all 6 cars are in view. No Tuned cars in 2player mode is a big let down. BUT GT4 IS STILL THE MOST IMPRESSIVE RACING GAME TO DATE AND IS A PLEASURE TO PLAY AND BE INVOLVED IN!

Just hope we get to race tuned cars in 2-player in GT5.

neither could I until I fired up my first race on Nur track! It was my birthday yesterday and thats the day GT4 arrived through the post. And it was the most dissapointing day of the year!

Before you ask I LOVE GT1, GT2, GT3, GTC & GT4P

But GT4 falls very short of my expectations!!!!!!!!

Read my above blue comment! I'll keep it thanks! Just got a midnight purple 3 skyline GTR with 589BHP so i'm happy again. Just a shame I can't race my friends with it!
 
Hi All, I am new to this site however I thought i would add another opinion from an Aussie who has been playing GT4 for about 4 days straight....... :) Firstly the expectation for this game is incredibly high from all of us.... so GT4 would be fighting an uphill battle to live up to those expecatations..... But Firstly Id like to clarify from the start that this game IS AWESOME!!! The driving physics alone are much much more realistic than previous GTs (I have a force feed back wheel and plasma screen) It is all a little overwhelming at first (especially after waiting so long) because there is just so much to look at..... however once you settle in and become familiar with eveything it's magic :) All the 'original' tracks i have seen have ALL received a nice touch up (more trees.... better colours, different time of day etc) and yes NY is probably a little softer however i think it is an improvement... ps2 is infamous for its jaggies... and antialias issues so imho any jaggies in GT4 would be the ps2s limitations rather than the games!! It drives like a dream.. but i have noticed some stutter and resolution changes in replay mode (never in-race though??) this is a little baffling but could be a gliche.... there is a mix of 3d by-standers and the cardboard cutouts are still around (just less of them) its more noticeable in replay.. once you drive it though all is forgotten! it truly is that good.. (theres nothing like bump steering in a Renault5 on the Nurburgring and trying to catch it again :).... I love this game and i am not the least bit disappointed.. Those who have it... enjoy... those who don't.. it'll be worth the wait :)
 
how do you guys have NY track in GT4 prologue? =(

i have nurb, a french track called george something, and deep forest only :(
 
Are you talking about the demo, Lukas? Nürb, George V, and Trial Mountain? That's just a demo, Prologue is something totally different, a much larger "demo" of sorts that was released about a year or so ago in Japan and Europe. The demos do say "Prologue" on the main menu, but they're not the same thing.

Im guessing that the GT4 Prologue version you own is the PAL version since I see you're from the UK. The reason why you might think that your imported GT4 has "mushy" textures is that it's a NTSC version. NTSC has a lower resolution then PAL which may explain the "mushiness".

Meh he's new user guys (Yes, I think I am too but watever). Prolly a troll trying to raise doubts about the game and stuff. I'll believe this stuff when I see it for myself, this is THE first time I've heard anything about stuttering, seems pretty odd.

Only if you try to cross-breed them, so to speak. Playing an NTSC game on a PAL PS2/television, or vice-versa.
