OK, this may be a stupid question, but are there any real alternatives to the simple knee-jerk response of just throwing on the largest turbo you can afford at the time?
I don't really mind, because turbocharged cars are cool, but is there any way to get competitive power with a naturally aspirated car in GT3? I don't want to always run straight for the Stage II turbo and intercooler every time a I get a new car. I have a zero-miles second gen Miata that I want to build up into a NA beast. Also, I've been trying to go NA with my Vitz but those Euros are feeding me their dust.
Turbocharging can be a cost-effective way to serious power in real life, but I have to say, I think it is unrealistically handled in GT3. There are extra costs involved in building up a basic engine to handle boost that just aren't represented in the game. Anybody have any thoughts?

If you want good N/A tuning the best bet is to go for either N/A cars that have high displacement or N/A cars (TVR`s, vipers etc) with Low weight and high revs (Spoon Civic, Lotus Elise, tommikaira thingy, Treuno Shingeo Version). Or you could go supercharged with the Jaguar XKR. The first things I usually go for in tuning is the weight reduction and tyres. Then minor engin mods, suspension brakes, the last thing I do is the Turbo or the N/A tune.

Hope that helps :)

Whats up Duke!

Dollor to dollor turbo is the better mod than NA in GT3.
One of the best ways to win thats relitively cheap is weight redux. ;) just like real life

I have the same peptobizmal pink Vitz that you have Duke. I just saved my pennies to get it up to spec with the euro edition cars.

I think your trying to do too much too soon. which is exactly what I did when I first started GT. Pick one car and mod the *beep* out of it! Win what you can with it then sift through the cars you have and pick the best one out of the bunch to mod.

The problem I see with the veichile spacific races in beginer races is you need to spend way too much money to dominate the race. and then when you win the series you get a stock vertion of the car you just moded

The TT race didn't boil me as much as the Vitz cup did. I got a nice Yellow TT that looks sweet. And a peal Blue one the second time I raced. The factory TT colors suck IMO!

Well, that's kinda what I was complaining about. I think the costs are skewed too heavily against N/A cars.

The first two things I do to any new car I'm going to keep are Stage I and Stage II weight reduction.

I don't really know what the specs are for those. I guess I oughta do a little research and find out.

Well, actually, that's kinda what I am doing. I have a first gen monster Miata that I like a lot and have used in everything it will qualify for that I have tried so far. I have a second gen Miata that is completely untouched. I have a lightly modded Vitz I won, which I'm running in the Vitz Cup. And I have a fairly-well modded Daihatsu teeny that I've run in the lightweight and FF classes. Everything else (with the exception of my Trueno) has been sold unmodified.

Heh, well, I ranted about that in my "Prize Cars" thread below...
I'm just looking to do things other than the way the game biases you towards doing them. I guess I oughta complete it once, first, huh?
