Am I the only one who dislikes the menu navigation times?

Would you like to reduce the maintenance/upgrade menu navigation time?

Agreed, I would like some sort of a tuning page with checkboxes where you can check every tuning part and then click on something like buy/install all parts, instead of having to do it one by one manually. And obviously there should also be a checkbox that selects all tuning parts at once.

It would also be interesting to disable some of the animations (GT Auto) in the options menu for example.
I too hate the other loading times when navigating through the menu's although I'm not sure if there would be a direct solution for it.
I've said that before. A tuning page like that would be great.

And all the time it takes to just change the oil? Come on. GT Auto, just to GET to it takes a lot of clicks. The menu is set up with blocks that are all different sizes. Can I just press R2 to get to GT Auto and L1 to get to the garage? There are many buttons on the controller, let's like use them!

Liking your ideas, they could do that for any game with menu's actually, adding shortkeys, or shortbuttons actually.

I don't see it as a necessity, but it'd definitely be interesting.

I definitely like to see the gt-auto scenes shortened/removed. Do I need to see the mechanic team pull my car into a garage then magically 180 the car? No. Was it cool the first time I saw it. No.

need to be able to use the arrow icon like a mouse using the analog stick to control.
No more up up over right right down left....Gt Auto X. Would be simple and easy, but won't happen. Consider it a tax on your PS3. Would be nice to be able to adjust the race display screen with only the items you want to see. No I do not need to know the names or cars I am up against the whole race. How about cycling through drivers on replays without having to turn the display back on. Simple stuff really, but somehow i don't think PD cares. Personally I think the Menu/UI is so bad it could be considered busted. So annoying.

in loving memory of loading times in GT1 i HATE loading times from GT2 onwards. in GT5 you get the worst loading times i saw in GT history.
Go and try full tune a car in GT1, you can do it very quickly, because PSX has nothing to load when you in tuning shop.
Secondly:
The music in tuning screen, used car dealer and GT auto is so bad and repetitive. Dont get it, why it must be played (and cut song), when you have like tens of songs in menu.

@Stratman:
You missed my point. Complaining that the system is broken is worse than useless. The poll only has two choices: ignorant and more ignorant. The poll should contain choices on which fixes people want the most.

Poll:
Cut animations (possible with a toggle)
Better menu layout
Continuous music flow (songs aren't cut off when you change screens)
...

Get it?

Guys after looking through lots of pages on several sites, I am starting to think I am the only one who gets frustrated with the game menu times.

No, it was a common gripe a year or so ago when the game was new. I haven't played post-2.0, so I don't know how they are now, but prior to 2.0 the times were actually somewhat improved over what they were this time last year. Part of the problem was all the unnecessary bullcrap, like quadruple confirmations just to back out of a menu, watching the same crappy drive-two-inches-from-the-shadow animation for every bloody car you get, and frequenting GT Auto for the nonsensical oil changes that seem neat at first but is just a tedious chore by the 293rd oil change and by the 5,000th you want to murder the developers.

I reckon people don't still gripe about it because it's a very old gripe.

I honestly can't decide on voting - I like the animations, but hate the loading screens, and I don't want to install the game to my hard drive because I won't have enough room for new games (I have about 12 GB left on my 80 GB hard drive - classic model, backwards-compatible, refurbished after March 2007. Minus approximately 6GB leaves me with just 6 GB, and I'm gonna get Uncharted 1 & 3, Blur, GRID, Dirt 2 & 3, Borderlands 2, maybe the Killzone series... plus DLC I purchase [I don't have GT5's DLC yet] AND plus internal storage I'll add for my 15-20 old PS2 games.) I think you should be able to skip the animations, and have an option to turn off the pesky-to-some pop-up windows - the one that annoys me the most is when I'm not signed in to PSN and it has to figure this out, confusing its self, then announcing "You are not Signed in to PSN. Would you like to sign in to PSN?" every time I enter the main menu or GT menu, or accidentally hit the online features. I especially hate it when it causes the game to glitch and send you back to the main menu, wasting a good 15 - 45 seconds of your time. I really think the load times between menus and sub-menus should be fixed first before animations are cut or skipable.

I honestly think I waste about 15 minutes of every hour I spend in GT waiting for something or other.

I play about an hour a day. Wait for initial game boot up in GTlife, load up seasonal to earn some money, spend some money in one purchase at time(!!!!) dealers, change oil, paint, maybe tune.

Breath.

Go online, wait for network connection, try and join room, try again, play for 10 minutes until inevitable network disconnect. Repeat until hour is up.

They really need to fix the set up of GT5.
Oh. Oil change gotta leave the room and wait to come back.
And dont you just hate when you buy a new car an forget to put it in your favorites and it takes you five minutes of looking when you are in a lobby to notice its not there.
And why can you only purchase SOME tuning parts at the track but not engine upgrades or weight reduction. Theres more time spent waiting.

You're absolutely correct. I do not get you or your 'point' at all :dopey:

My poll has two obvious choices- object to spending hours navigating menus instead of actually playing the game in the hope of getting more usable play time- or say you are happy to lose 3-4 days a year navigating unnecessary menus watching the same silly animations that do not make sense or enhance the game and that you have already seen hundreds of times. Up to 80 hours per year- no vote, or a no vote says you have that to waste. Good for you- I don't.

I did not complain about menu layout- that is not an issue for me that requires developers attention. That would not give me any more game time or make the game any better to me.

Music flow- who cares if you are not sat there listening to it for so many unnecessary hours? How would either of your 'points' increase your game time and reduce your wasted time?

I don't see my point as complaining the system is broken. How is it? I see it as a suggestion that could make a great game better. For everyone who plays it.

KISS. Keep it simple ....sam.

Yes you think it'd be better with the choice to spend more of your time playing

No you are happy to waste your possible playable game time...and not just a little- but up to 80 hours. Two working hour weeks.

How could anyone make a poll like you suggest that covers what you term as "fixes people want the most?"

With millions of players- I chose one thing that has cost all of those players actual game time. Hours and hours of it.

I wish we could see how many no votes are level 38-40...

I still stand by this- make it a buyable dlc. 💡 I bet you and the hypocritical no voters would buy it too for 5 bucks. Would certainly pay for the development effort.

*EDIT* PS. With 1100+ view for 106 votes....can't see any changes anytime soon. Oh well. Bump

November 9th I started this.

So far I have bought and upgraded about 15 cars. I have rebuilt about 12.
Over 2 hours gaming time....wasted. Grrrrrr :banghead:

Well I am not the only one who dislikes this- average has been 85% in favour of improving this.

But really- a response rate of less than 20% of views means I guess we will just have to suck it up and endure the pain of wasted and annoying time lost.

What annoys me is if this were an optional download that you could choose to install to streamline your game time- every no vote and failure to vote would download this option. I'd bet on that.

Oh well. Such is life. :boggled:
