Am I the only one who enjoys driving slow cars?

In Real Life i drive a '99 Renault Megane 1.6 16v 5dr hatchback so i bought the 2.0 16v IDE coupe tuned it a little to around 190bhp and what a blast it is
 
any of u guys got any clue how to win a Honda Z ACT '70???? i keep posting a thread, but the w*****s here wont allow it, dunno why.... bugging me now lol

however, any advice on this car would be greatly appreciated

I also prefer the slower cars over the beasts. As you said, in the beasts it's braking and accelerating at the right moment in time.

In the slower cars it feels that the correct racing line makes the biggest change. Therefor I prefer chasing my ghost on numerous tracks and compare my times to others with these slow cars. (there is enough of them, sorry that the majority of the races is for the quick-est)
 
Me and my buddy currently use the following list in lan play

Bmw 120i
Lexus IS200
Mazda infini III
Volkswagen R32

and we just love the feel of the Mr2 GTS!
 
I've spent a ton of time taking my slower cars around the Nurb and other various courses, and I find it a lot more fun than simply blowing through tracks, you get time to actually enjoy the scenery and fully ingest the race...
 
The slower cars provide half of the "meat" of the game.
No matter what anybody else says, experience counts regardless of how fast your car is.
Lots of players form bad habits by streaking through the game to get to the fast race cars and such, and totally miss out on most of the fun, which is honing those driving skills to the point where any car produces a fulfilling drive.
And then they complain that they were'nt satisfied...

The cool thing is, GT4 forces you to drive slower cars.
 
I love the slower cars too.

They provide a much better challenge in races, and are generally more fun to race.

So i try to stay away from races like the 206 Cup, where most of the cars are close/or fully modded... :(
 
agree, getting every ounce of a slower car to move just right is totally rewarding. The cars just aren't forgiving. Do wish there were a lot more competitive slower car races, though. You shouldn't be able to beat a 350z convertible with the 54 corvette c1 bone stock. oh well! i'll leave it to 2play/lan.

You cannot win it. It shows up used in the "Historic" lot. I can tell you the date I bought mine when I get home and get the PS2 fired up...

I lapped the 'Ring twice with that old-school Midget (12HP, 18:04 laptime), it's no-brakes around the entire course and you only need to let off the throttle for Wehrseifen, the rest can be taken at full throttle... :D

I did it, in 17:29.... don't ease at Wehrseifen!!!

I'm playing GT2 since....ehr....say 2003...and only drove under 250 CV cars (HP, if you like it).

My first car in GT4 was the Midget II....just to win the 3-wheeled Midget.
I'm currently playing it with Fiat 500 (L & R).
Let's say... I will drive 50-100CV cars in may or june... I suppose

I like progressive playing :dopey:

I love driving all cars, slow and fast, I have only modified 4 cars (I have 50+).

I drive everycar I own nearly all my cars have 40km's+ on them, The Ginetta G4 is a great car IMHO, I enjoy driving it.

Same here. I enjoy driving all of my different kinds of cars. 👍
 
I agree too. While driving the F1 and (Group C) style sportscars can be a full-on adrenalin buzz, I sometimes find driving the less powerful road cars a lot more enjoyable.
The best thing about the GT series is that (mosdtly) it gives you the choice; As someone very wise once said, "variety is the spice of life"...

17:29, oh no! Now I gotta do it again! And I didn't have a problem at Hohe Acht, but maybe that was because I was still down in speed from letting off way back at Wehrseifen... :dopey:
 
I'm more into normal production cars for driving enjoyment regardless of the power it may have. But it has to have certain known real world qualities in it. (i.e cars like Peugeot 205 T16, Shelby Cobra 427 S/C, Honda NSX, Ford Focus RS, BMW M5, Lotus Elise 111R, and Aston Martin DB9).

As for the likes of the Motor Carriage, the Model T and the Midget, maybe just to give it a try, probably in an extra small circuit, not in the likes of The Ring. Anyways, just my 2 cents. :)
 
I love the slower cars; maybe because for me its all about the handling. I love corners and the faster the better and thats not always about how powerful the car is.

Just as a visual example of fun in a small, slow car; I present me and my Fiat 500.



 
This may not be a slow cars example, but yesterday I ran the Polygon trophy with a BMW M3 GRP Road Version with 450 HP. Today I bought a VW R32 and put in around 312 to run the Golf cup, and to my surprise I wasn't let in.

So to recover my investment I enter the same Polygon trophy with the R32 and I have to say that this car handle much better than the BMW, and even it is slower, the handling is so good that I'm able to do better times.

I have a 2004 Golf GSL in RL, and I'm really thinking about going back to the dealer and get me an R32.

(I saw it originally, but had a "wife" issue at the time...) :scared:
 
What car surprised me was the '54 vette. I fully tuned one as a joke, but when I took it on the track it handles like its on rails. Its only a 2sp auto, so its not that fast even fully modded, but I was able to keep up with much more powerful cars.

But give me a C5R any day :trouble:
 
It's all about variety. Some of the slower cars are fun to drive, but some are just boring. On the faster end of the spectrum, my 8.2 second 1/4 mile Mitsu FTO is a lot of fun; it has no right to go as fast as it does. I also used a fully modded TVR Cerbera Speed 12 on the Paris circuit last night, and it was an absolute blast with the GT Force! Probably the most fun I have ever had in GT4 in a non-competitive situation.

nice and simple ey? I enjoy driving lower hp cars in 2 player and i try to equal the race in gt mode by using a car with similar hp but if im not good enough i do pull out my big guns and blow them away.

I'm serious when I say this, but I really don't like driving the JGTC or Leman cars (Or F1 cars in GT3).. I find that most of the time, it's just test of my precise reaction times, rather than driving philosophy (for want of a better term)..

I much prefer to drive a relatively standard (at the moment the Ginetta G4, check my 1000 mile thread :)).. That way you can really get into the perfect apex for corners, and getting your line spot on, and continue to go for that perfect lap.. With the really quick cars, I find that reguardless, I always make some mistake, purely as the breaking points, and turning points appear and disappear so quickly.. They're not as forgiving as the slower cars..

Is this just me? Am I the only one? Or is there anyone else out there who found the most enjoyable race in GT3 was the standard MX5 endurance race :D

I'll drive anything, slow or fast, as long as it can go around corners without getting angry at you, for instance, the lotus elan, not exacly an f1 car, but u have to drive it smoothly to get fast lap times, so it's like a different kinda racing for me. almost as fun as a 1200hp minolta:)

Well I don't have pics, but tonight I just discovered a small Mazda in the Used lot, the AutoMaz or something like that, the AZ1. And man I had a lot of fun running that thing around Autumn Ring. If you see one grab it, its comical looks are decieving. Its so small and the radio antenna is huge in comparison, it looks almost like an RC car out there :D

Some of my other favorites are the Mercedes Avant Garde something or other, its like a small van thing, but shorter, its hard to explain, but that car is FUN! Its almost square, so it just drifts like crazy. 100HP with an oil change. I bought two so I could keep one stock and the other mess with the modding.

Also the Suzuki Cappicino (sp?) and the Prius. Which reminds me, I heard there were more than one model of Prius, is this true? I only have the G version I think, how do the other versions differ?

I find myself just hitting the used lots a lot and buying up the interesting cars there, I hope I don't manage to blow my 10 mil credits I saved up for the black LMP cars (only 14 more game days!)

There are two models, one is the first generation Prius avilable in the used car 2 showroom occassionally. The other is the second generation available new. I only have the new one, not sure the difference other than looks. Probably weight, with the older being lighter, but that totally a guess.

The AZ-1, got one already and its a great car. Give it a go around Motorsports land as well.

On the Merc front it sounds like you are refering to the A class, yet to get one of these; but I do have a Cappacino and a Honda Beat.

Also found a Honda S800 in the '80s used car showroom, what a lovely looking little car and great fun to drive.

I think I am starting to prefer racing smaller lighter cars with LOADS of power, rather than than the big engined beasts.

Why do a lap in 3 min, when you could do it in 40 Seconds?

i find myself driving stock car most of the time, some of these cars are pretty quick for their time, espessially old 4-cyls like the 68 Skyline and the early Celicas
 
I've only tuned maybe 10 of my 550+ cars so far, so yes, I prefer cars stock as well :) I like the challenge, and seeing what they handle like in their purest form.
 
I also enjoy driving all cars but I agree, the more practical cars a lot more fun IMO. Approx 300hp-500hp I get a chance to enjoy the scenery a little more and concentrate on driving physics where I can feel the weight transfer whenever I hit the brakes or take the corners just right. I still appreciate any car in this game that I can get my hands on and I enjoy all of them. :)
