Good Morning fellow GTP members! :)

Well, I have an interesting question (IMO) for you today...
It's been 2 years since the game was released... and well, most of us have one big problem with the game: Most cars have terrible engine sounds. :grumpy:

BUT... from all the cars in the game that have engine sounds that are just wrong... I see that almost NOBODY mentions the GT-One and the Sauber Merc C9... which, IMO (again) have the absolutely worst of them all... I mean... My ears suffer everytime I try to race with them... I can't stand even a lap on them... :nervous:

I ask you... Have you ever heard the 2 cars I've mentioned??? Do you use them, do you hear them??? I mean... People crushed PD when they released the Honda "Whateveriscalled" Super GT car because of the engine sound... But man... those two are 100000000 times worse!!!! :yuck: And yet NOBODY seem's to see it the way I see it... :dunce: I mean... THEY SUCK!!! COMPLETELY, ABSOLUTELY SUCK!!!!!!!

Or maybe my disc has some kind of bug and I'm the only one who hears a pathetic "Buzzzz" instead of a real "roar"???? Maybe???? :dunce:

I know you've mentioned them an awful lot. I don't necessarily mind the sounds themselves, but they don't fit on those two cars for certain.

Still........could be worse.

The GT-One is pretty bad, it actually sounds a lot like the new HSV sound, very synthetic and digital sounding, a high pitch drone.

It's the XJ13 and 330P4. Also known as the 'Nails on a Chalkboard' and the 'Vacuum Cleaner'.

Sure they are pretty high on my list of worst engine sounds... but not even close to the GT-One / Sauber Merc... :crazy: At least I can tolerate the Jag and the 330P4...

Sound system??? Well... the default speakers of my 21'' TV :scared:
 
The Sauber's sound is just terrible. It always sucks to be going down the Mulsanne Straight sounding like a glorified lawnmower.
 
If u have a good sound sytem with a good sub, the Alfa Zagato has bowling balls in the trunk...no joke...lol
 
Those cars sound much better through my sound system, they sound very different through youtube, I have no problem with any of those cars. Although the Toyota doesn't sound much better to say the least. The XJ13 and P4 sound better than what is heard in those 2 videos.

Yesterday, I was doing 456 km/h or 284 mph with the GT - One on the Hunaudieres straight and my ears were bleeding.:crazy:

If my C9 sounded like this I wouldn't drive anything else - hell, I wouldn't even race, just pootle round a circuit creating apocalyptic thunder!

I did wonder if what Kaz meant by his "too accurate" sound comment was that inside vehicles, the sound is very different from outside - kind of muted, less low end, more hairdrier. But this vid clip disputes that completely for racing cars where in-car acoustics are not present!

I love the start of this clip as he accelerates down the main straight - but the best bit is when he reaches the first corner - the car goes quiet, then ROAR!! Total magic!

PD take note! This is how the C9 sounds.
 
Does anyone remember the sound of the NSX in full mod from
the GT1 game? Now, that's the way a N/A V8 should sound.
The Rolex Series comes to mind, as well as the Euro. Touring cars.

Not to knock the video or anything, but a youtube sound comparison isn't, by far, a comparison!

The GT-one in real life actually sounds like the GT-R Super GT cars (in-game) with a little less grunt to it. It needs to sound more muted due to the turbo chargers.

The C9, I don't know what they were smoking when they put sound samples to that car.

I am with you on this one mate. If any of the cars in GT5 sounded this good my PS3 would probably melt from overheating just from running practice laps at Le Mans.
 
Wow people don't like the '66 Jag engine sound? I think it's pretty badass and is my favorite sounding engine in the game. Granted I don't know what a real '66 sounds like but I love the engine sound of that car in this game.
 
Both cars mentioned sound truly awful, in particular the GT1 which sound like a poor V6 on helium!!!
 
Here's my take...

At home I play GT5 on a 55" HD that is ran through a pretty nice surround sound system that I spent some time adjusting and GT5 sounds great! Right now, I am at my parents house for Christmas and playing GT5 on their 32" flat screen with itty bitty built in speaks. GT5 sounds HORRIBLE, to the point I turned the music up to 120% to drown out the sound of the cars.

My point, get a real surround system and GT5 sounds great:tup:
