Am i the only one who does this? Seems that way.

I'll use the Vettes as an example, They all sound like garbage with race exhaust yet it's all i see online. Do people not care that their car sounds like crap.

I run Semi exhaust on all my Vettes because it actually sounds like a V8 instead of a honda civic. The best part about it is the extra horse power people gain from it makes such a small difference in any situation and if you can't tune or drive you will still be much slower everywhere.

I constantly beat RE Vettes online and it's because of driver and tune not 20hp from your V6 exhaust. I would trade 20hp for a good sound anyday so why don't others. Seems like a bunch of try hards to me.

I'm just sick of hearing peoples garbage exhaust when they have the choice to change it. It ruins the moment when you pass another car that should sound like a V8 but instead sounds like a toyota carolla.

Common people.

EDIT: Oh yea and PD you are foolish for changing the sound of the RM Vettes and leaving the street car version the same. Not to mention the Saleen S7 now sounds like a ford focus with a fart can.

Cutting corner once again.

You're not the only one, I'm doing it too. My other reason to pick a certain exhaust is what it does with the redline though. No point in having the limit well beyond what can be shown in cockpit view.

Internals is what raises redline not exhaust, ECU,Cam,Valve,Valve springs, retainers etc.

Many highly built motors will rev way past the stock redline which is set by the manufacturers for safe operation over long periods of time. 👍

I dont care about HP, the sound is very important. Some cars sound great with the Racing-exhaust ( Honda Civic EK) some don't ( Vette's, Lambo's) I mostly use the standaard exhaust cause it just sounds the best ( on some cars)

Doing this is why I very rarely change the exhaust on any cars anymore, because it is so rare for there to be any improvement in the sound.

Yea it's like PD chose golf carts to be their main sound generator.

It's terrible and takes away from the experience.

Why they didn't just give cars basic exhaust notes based of number of cylinders i don't know. V8 cars get these sounds to choose from and V6's get these to choose from etc. It's not that hard to do.

A 7 liter V8 should NEVER sound like a V6 and it's amazing how something so simple slips over PD's head.

I don't have an issue with how others play the game, because if that's what makes a game enjoyable for you, go for it. It has no effect on me (that is unless you're cheating in some way). But to me, choosing exhaust based on its sound over its performance is like not using standard cars because they look bad. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. Again, this is not an attack on your viewpoint, it's just how I like to play the game. 👍

I choose exhaust based on sound. I like to hear car exhaust, not a PIG squiling. I never forget when I saw video on YouTube where someone was drifting on RUF....Nice drifting, BUT that PIG sound spoiled EVERYTHING.
I do it my way - I choose exhaust I like then downgrade a car to original HP. I actually NEVER tune cars to get that magic feeling of a car individuality. Drift cars are exeption, but exhaust sound matters as well.
I DO NOT use Standart cars because they ARE looking bad. I am a car hardcore fan. Along with GT5.
If one part of a game makes me love cars more than gaming I will definately choose this part. Let's leave gaming for thrill lovers.

I think that's part of it because i am a car person and have always been into cars since i was very young. The people who don't care about the way the car sounds are people who treat it solely as a video game and aren't in it for the cars themselves imo.

Because no car lover in the right mind would put up with a horrible sounding car if they are in it to enjoy the vehicle.

Most likely young children i'm guessing.

Hi

I've changed a few cars so they sound more like I think they should. Toyota Corolla 2002 with the vvtl engine in real life sounds nothing like the in the game so I added race exhaust & detuned it back to 189hp like the T Sport version I used to own in real life.

As wall as a couple of Subarus.

I often use Full race exhaust.. Despite it sounding terrible, its the only way you can hear the engine over the transmission sometime.. Dont want to have to keep your eyes glued on the rev gauge to know when to shift.. You'd crash that way.. I do prefer the stock/sport exhaust on most cars though..

Totally agree with you. 👍
Exhaust sound is of great importance for me, as it reflects the cars original sound. For example, the Ford GT's standard car sound is good, but the sport exhaust gives it a real V8 rumble.

Exactly the same here.
So yeah, I can't brag about the massive horsepower is have but I can enjoy a normal sound.

Sometimes when I drive behind a fully tuned 430 scuderia or 458 italia it just makes sad

I can't bear on the fact that some cars sound like exactly the same as another one with a racing exhaust or failure of sound recording, but sometimes even a pair of cars with a different look and mounted with a distinctive type of engine do sound the same as if the PD intentionally made it for simplicity...

However as for the likings/appreciations of the sounds some insensitive players don't really care about an inappropriate combination of engine sound with what they should be producing in real life I deem, so can be a matter of individual perspective too. :(

Aston Martin V12 with semi exhaust, beats that annoying Audi R8 drone hands down.

For me, no car sounds great with the titanium racing exhaust. It just seems like a "pimp accessory" to me, where your car is loud at any rev range. I definitely wouldn't want my car to sound like that IRL, even if there IS no IRL in GT5.

The racing exhaust just spoils the look of some cars for me, and I'm the kind of person whom would refuse to put aero kits on my cars because it looks ugly. Besides, the racing exhaust just exposes a rendering flaw on PD's part even more.

I'm spinning in the Mustang while the AI passes me with the RX-7. As you can see, the exhaust's interior isn't even hollow.

I pretty much never use the racing exhaust and almost always use the sports exhaust for the sound only of course.

Heh?

Depends.

If I want as much power as I can get, I'll use the race exhaust.

If I'm looking for style rather than power, I'll use whatever sounds best.

Actually, that's the only time I use the race exhaust. I hardly use the semi-racing exhaust any more than the racing exhaust; well, only for when it sounds better than the sports, so it might even be less.

The worst part about it is even in "cruise" rooms people choose to use the worst sounding exhaust possible, It's like why? You are here to drive and enjoy a car with other people and show it off so wouldn't you want to have a nice sounding car to cruise with.

It just boggles my mind how people are so obsessed with MAX this and MAX that when it almost always ruins the cars character.
