I thought his rendition of Part-Time Lover was entertaining, but the actual singing was pretty atrocious. He went so low with his notes I could hardly make out the song! Not to mention that his so-called "dance moves" are garbage.

I saw that the little kid Kevin got voted off. That kid went from Nerd to Sex symbol. Hope he lives the life while it lasts! I think he'll be at IDOL the pre-show of AI for some interviews.

Thank God he's gone. Now we can have a proper contest.

I'm not surprised Lisa Tucker keeps hitting the bottom three. She's a cutie, she's talented, but up against heavyweights like Mandisa (who takes the soul vote from her) and Paris (who takes the 17 year old spitfire vote from her), she doesn't have a chance.

Bucky and Pickler might slug it out for an episode or two more... they've got the "country" vote sewn up with McGhee's exit. ...but neither should last into the top six...

Ace is running hot and cold. He's not the best singer out there, but he almost has it some nights. And that's enough to keep him alive. Scary if he wins... that's a sure sign America has gone bonkers.

Paris and Taylor are both great showpersons. They have their odd slips in terms of singing, but they can carry it off. Katharine McPhee is just cute as giggles. She has her odd off-nights, but she's sure to land some teen drama/comedy after AI. Probably alongside Kevin.

I'm seeing as my top six:

Mandisa
Chris
Elliot
Paris/Taylor/McPhee?

(Ace is an unknown... if he shapes up for the rest of the comp, he may make it)

I don't know if Chris has a wide enough appeal to win. I hope he does though, because he is incredibly talented. I agree with niky: Lisa Tucker is very good, but she doesn't distinguish herself well enough to last in this competition.

Isn't Chris being sued? He tried to pass off the version of "Walk the Line" as his own, when in reality it was note for note a cover that Live did back in the day, a band he sights as one of his inspirations...

Listening to that clip of Chris synced up to Live, I did realize one thing. Chris sounds just as good if not better performing that song than the lead singer of Live. I bet Chris will do just fine after AI.

Btw I heard George Huff (Season 3 finalist) and Jessica Sierra (Season 4 finalist) will be guesting at the pre-show of AI tomorrow night.

Is it just me or did Kelly Pickler look different tonight? Still hot, but different...shes a fiesty "mink" for sure.

Girls look totally different if they change their eye makeup...that's what Kellie did.

Maybe...Anyone else notice the bald guy plucked his eye brows?

My girlfriend noticed it first, and we couldn't stop laughing for his whole performance.

What can it say about tonight's show that the highlight of it was seeing George Huff in the audience. I miss that kid! Does anyone noticed too Jessica Sierra at the audience?they were at the pre-show earlier.

I absolutely cannot believe that Katherine McPhee was in the bottom three this week. Who the HELL is voting for frigging Bucky? He is absolutely awfule, and now that next week's show's theme is "Country," I'm sure he'll feel right at home.

Too bad Lisa Tucker's gone. Once again, the worst performer of the week did NOT get booted off.

I'm also tired of Chris choosing the same crap week in and week out to sing. We get it, you're a rock singer. If you want to be American Idol, stop with the Wheezer et al.

McPhee was terrible last night, she deserved to be in the bottom 3. She didn't have the range or chops to pull off that Aguilera song. I was relieved that Simon corrected himself to say that when he watched it back she wasn't good, which is what I had remarked during the original performance and was stunned when all the judges told her it was good.

I think all the contestants are at risk, they all seem to have niches and are awkward and stumble out of that comfort range, if a contestant gets caught in a week where the theme is far removed from their comfort they're at risk to end up like McPhee did tonight.

Somehow, I think it has to do with the lack of personality demonstrated by the performers thus far.

I knew Lisa was going to get the boot.

I was listening to McPhee's number and wondering what the hell the judges were talking about... good thing Simon heard it on replay... some things really are different on-screen and in-person... :indiff:

Really? This is too bad. I don't watch the show much, but I am friends with her older brother and went to high school with him so I was kind of rooting for her.

Would've been pretty cool if she had won.

Lisa was talented, no doubt, but she just didn't stand out...

cute young pop singer? Katharine McPhee has that vote

teenage firebrand? Paris has that one...

where did that leave Lisa? She's been struggling to establish an identity, but sandwiched between stronger singers like Paris and Mandisa, and more charismatic ones, like Kath, she had nowhere to go but out.

It's a shame, she really is very talented... actually, a good bet for Disney. :D

What's up with Ace still being in? He totally flummoxed that cover (don't pick a song that's better than you, man...)...

And Chris? Creed? Not my favorite band, and I'd pegged him as being better than Creed's singer. He was off, completely... and Simon's right... the rock thing gets old... do some rock ballad, man...

Hell, it was an off-night for a lot of people. Elliot did well, but I have to agree with the judges, the song arrangement sucked.

Every single one of them sings the same stuff every week. Chris's rock performances only stick out because it's different from what everyone else does. Bucky and Kellie always do country, Mandeesa does diva, and everyone else does sappy pop songs.

And Chris has never done Weezer. :)

Yes but I still maintain that songs by rock bands (especially Chris' particular brand of rock) are way easier to pull off vocally than a solo song with little musical accompaniment. With loud guitars and a singer basically screaming "What if, what if, what if..." you can't really hear his singing voice very well to even determine if he's singing well or not. Hell, I could go up on stage and sing some Creed and probably sound not that bad.

I cannot believe Mandisa was voted off. This just proves the show is not really about the best singer at all. Simon has been right all along, and it sucks. I mean, what sense is there behind having Paris, Mandisa and Elliot in the bottom 3 this week when neone of them have ever been there before? You mean to tell me Bucky and Ace and Kelly are still in and Mandisa's gone?!

Ok I'll admit that I have been watching American Idol because it seems like I'm left out when I listen to the radio in the morning on the way to school. Personally I like Chris, I think he sings well. I don't understand how people like Ace though, I think he's just ok in the singing department.

Ace is sooooooo dreamy *swoons*

Er, um, I mean....uh....I eat steel beams for breakfast--that's how much of a man I am!

In all seriousness though, I thought the other group of three was the bottom three. And of those six, Mandisa was probably the best singer out of all of them.

I got these pics from a friend who went at last week's taping of Idol Tonight show. It's George Huff and Jessica Sierra both were former finalists of AI season 3 and 4 respectively with the frantic hosts of the show.

Holy ****, Mandisa's off!?! Damn me for missing the results show!!!! I was out of town!!!!!

Damn, I thought she'd be middle of the pack this week, but voted off?!? Granted, Elliot really messed up this week, and I thought Mandisa and Paris were kind of weak, but I thought for sure it was Elliot (yes, I thought it was that bad) or Taylor (it was even worse... he had a really hard time this week) would be the ones to get it.

Unjust, yes, but credit Bucky for doing at least a decent job when so many of the better singers were off-form. I say decent because it was...not terrific, but at least enough to keep him from getting booted. (that was my opinion while I watched the replay)

Ace, unfortunately for those of us who don't like him (I definitely DON'T), was actually good this week. He kept it simple and soft, and managed to pull it off. These past two weeks, actually, he's been climbing out of the rut he got into at the start of the final 12. He's starting to show some life, but I don't think he'll make it to the top 6.

Kelly and Katharine were simply smoking. It's a wake up call for those who were dominating the start of the final twelve... they may be weak on occassion, but they're powerhouses when they're in their groove.

Taylor has too many fans to get voted off this early... but then, I would have said the same thing about Mandisa (hell no, what happened to the Church of Mandisa?!?) before this week.

As for Chris... wow. He can actually sing a melody... So far in the top 12 rounds, I've only seen him stumble once... (that Creed song... really just... average)... that ballad was just perfectly timed and sung.

I really have to say I have lost about half the faith I had in the show since Mandisa was voted off. The voting process is stupid, and in no way reflects the real best singer of the top 12. If Mandisa ever gets a contract, I will buy her records above whoever the winner is this year.

It was her singing. However poor it sounded on the night, it sounds worse when you listen to it again. Clear all your preconceptions of who is good in the competition when you watch the replays of the "Country" episode, and you'd be surprised at who stood out. Of course, Bucky still sucked...

The voting in American Idol is highly dependent on audience appeal. There is always a core group of people who'll give you their votes come hell or high water, but that's often not enough to get through. Once people clue in that you're not "all that", they'll drop you. It finally happened to Kevin a few episodes ago. It has almost happened to Ace, but he's bouncing out of the rut he was in at the start of the final twelve (he was smoking in the final 24).

Mandisa fell into a rut maybe two weeks ago, and it took this long for the audience to realize it. This "rut" doesn't mean she's singing like a hoarse toad, but you can tell by listening intently that something's missing. (Same as with Lisa Tucker all through the final 12... technically, she had the looks and voice, but it just didn't click...) Too bad for Mandisa this happened during the Country Music episode, when her regular fan base wouldn't be paying as much attention... sure enough... they weren't, and they didn't vote... and... :ouch:

It wasn't a just vote-off... but I did have her pegged for the lower half on the voting.

Can we just get rid of Ace and Bucky and be done with it already? Which ever of those two survives this week will get voted off next week anyway.
