1. stormy (1:17.6)
2. seth (1:16.9)

1. kevin (1:23.6)
2. gta (1:24.1)
3. cowboys (1:24.0)

5. sinladar (1:27.4)
6. gatrs (1:25.3)

a lot of contact, wrecks, etc early on. but once the field spread out i was able to put in very consistent times. i overcame 4 offs in the sand and my first pit stop my car just went straight through the pits (wtf?) so i had to come back around on slippery tires. im surprised i came back to win, i knew gta had to pit one more time and i could stretch it but he took RM's to stay out which wasnt a bad idea really but he slipped up with 3 laps to go.

Yup. When the P1/LMP class came in it kinda messed up my rhythm, but ah well.

Was doing alright with longer stints in the beginning, was actually in P1 for a lap or so, but it turned out stretching my stints lost me a lot of time in the end, because I ended up a lap behind the leaders.

There appears to be a bug related to pit stops online. I don't know what the cause is, it just seems random. It's too bad you got it this race. It happened to me earlier on Nordschliefe earlier in another session. Fortunately, it was Free Run. This bug also seems to be getting worst as time passes on. Not looking good.

we must have been nuts

Awesome.
Just awesome.

Craziness! Glad someone had some close battling! My pit strategy put me off from most everyone else.

Those same two cars, the Red and Yellow were the reason I lost it a lap before the finish. I was trying to catch up with Stormy, and was there, but you guys were battling and I ended up touching one of you guys and hit the dirt in the 2nd last turn. Lost like 4 seconds from that. I closed the gap to Stormy from 6 to 1.5 seconds right after the corkscrew. lol- oh well. I think I'll stay with lmp2 from now on. Unless there's some more P1 drivers.

So nothing changed with the latest update? This is pretty sad to hear. Too bad its not as easy as saying just change it back to the way it was before.

My strategy screwed me up too, I stayed on worn tires too long.

Gatrs were you on Hards? Or transitioning from rFactor to the GT5 world?

^ And the pit stop bug has happened before. I think you may have entered too fast and/or hot the wall or cut the little apex or something.

Sorry I left, I was barely awake, and I could only see two cars on the track, neither of which I was close to battling. I didn't even put away my DFGT last night, I passed right out.

I only noticed the bug at Daytona, where its easy to speed into the pits. I figured it was some kind of penalty that PD had implemented.

Next track?

The Generic GP/F?

Edit: Woah! Did we always have a wet Nordschliefe layout? It has time/weather change now...

Not really, I was hit by the pit glitch at Daytona without speeding. Both times I entered the pits way under 10 mph of the AI's pit speed, every single time the AI would speed me up to the pit speed limit. So I'm pretty sure the pit speed limit theory is out the window.

I noticed the AI always speeds up and brakes no matter what speed you're going, unless your flying.

ill have some pics up of the race later on, but for now the sun is out and im gonna enjoy my saturday

I wouldn't say that. The rooms have become a little more stable from what I noticed. Either that or it's gotten worst. When I ran into the bug earlier yesterday on Nordschliefe, my car was driving through just fine and parked in its designated spot, but the pit menu did not show up until several minutes later. Usually it would drive right through and not change my tires or refuel me. Sometimes the pit menu would appear after I've left the pits and disappear. So I think it's a loading issue (whether it's being conflicted by the "online loading" and the "local loading" or whatever), similar to the black screen, or there's just too much data now or changes now from updates. GT5 is just a mess. I wish Kaz did have more time to complete this game.

I'm not sure if Polyphony can revert back to the way it was with all the changes and additions they've made. Unless they've made backups of each and every version from the original coding (like a snapshot, image or something).

The bug first manifested at Tsukuba, but it seemed to spread like a virus after Polyphony attempted to fix it and kind of changed its behavioral pattern (like a polymorphic virus). Personally, I never hit the Tsukuba pit bug, but I have run into the bug at Nordschliefe. I coasted into the pits and it happened ( slower than the pit speed). The difference is the Tsukuba bug could be experienced while offline or online, while the new one seems to only occur while online.

There does seem to be a hidden penalty system with speeding into the pits according to a study, but the game would make you sit in the pits longer than usual rather than just a drive through. It's rather hard to speed into the pits at Laguna Seca.

This is exactly why we need manual pitting anyways. The AI is too cautious in the pits. They slow down if there is a vehicle in front, even if it's stationary in its pit box. Sometimes, the AI won't move at all because it has determined for some stupid reason that there is not enough room to maneuver around the car in front while stationary. The funny thing is, the cars will just go right through each other when they collide while in the pits.

Yes, it has always been there. Look at the AMG Special Event. The second half has you driving on a 100% wet surface.

I was tired as well. But it wasn't too tiring. The length of the race was just right.

I did meds.

Actually, rFactor has made me much faster in GT5. At least at first. I learned a lot of bad habits in GT5 and miss a lot of apexes because I can power through the corner, which actually slows down my lap times. If I "power through" corners in rFactor, I spin, damage, out of contention. There's no glue on the tires to save me. So the whole slow in, fast out REALLY gets in your head. And little by little lap times go down.

I was driving maybe a second or two slower than the leaders in GT per lap, on my hot laps. That's a new thing for me. And I think slowing down and hitting apexes is the main factor that helps.

Of course, heat of the race, you get excited and frustrated and old habits die hard. Braking super late, powering through controlled slides. But even with what I'd retained I was getting much much more out of my tires with better lines and slower, more deliberate entries that had me tracking out with max speed and minimal tire wear.

It is quite a different feel, and hard to transition between. But in both, there is a noticeable difference with just calming down and being deliberate.

But that used to be the only place you could drive a Wet Nordshleife, Gatrs has a thread on it.

Gatrs, do you think it'll be possible to start Qualy and the race on-time for the last 2 races? I really don't want a repeat of yesterday's schedule mix-up.

That was still a badass race though.

So refreshing having a good race after the glitch ordeal.

Ugh, so farken disappointed today. First FLMS race and first with the R18, qualied 6th and finished in that position after being taken out with 2 hours to go. FML.

Good to see you guys had a good race, well deserved for a long standing series.

You gotta boast with your R18s. :grumpy:

Come on PD. REAL CARS.

You said FLMS. I read Flying Lizard Motorsports.

Forza Le Mans Series. Next race is the FWEC 12 hours of Sebring, if it goes anything like this race went it'll be 12 hours of torture.

But that used to be the only place you could drive a Wet Nordshleife, Gatrs has a thread on it.

I remember always having that option. You have to unlock Nurburgring Nordschliefe (weather and time change) in Practice and Arcade mode by getting all bronze medals in the Intermediate level, the Nurburgring Type V (normal) with all silver in the same level, and Nurburgring 24 Hour (weather and time change) with all golds in the same level.

Here are the pics i just took, for some reason they look better on my TV with the color settings and all. I started to adjust the saturation for each individual photo, but my internet keeps disconnecting every time i click on something (**** at&t) so this will have to do for now.
