That thing has got to be pushing at least 1100whp... recording 990whp with all that wheelspin? Dang! They need to put on some new tires or find a new dyno :p

they didnt spin, it just walks around ont he dyno, its an accurate reading. Had it not been they woulda put the slicks on and kept dynoing it. Also that vid of the track was a very very crappy prep job, Eric said that the next day the car actually hooked up.

Still got a way to go to be the worlds most powerful Evo though :p

that actually is the worlds highest HP Evolution. I dunno where you saw different?

Also AMS said they maxed out the GT42R(turbo on the car in dyno and track vids)

That review is old but he has since made 1046whp, although far from street legal it is still an Evolution. He also managed to make 1100whp for about 3 seconds until the turbo exploded on the revdown from that dyno pull.

But props to AMS for keeping it 'streetable', lets see how long the gearbox can hold together :nervous:

The AMS shop car is actually still an Evo, and street legal from what I understand.

That AMS Evo is very impressive for being a street car

I wonder why they haven't made it into a full on drag weapon, they could probably make a bid for the world's fastest Evo with it.

Of course, they wouldn't get it but they could still try.....

I understand that, but I'll wait until they beat 1046 before saying they are the worlds most powerful Evolution.

And I'm sure they will do it as someone involved with them was saying they were running the turbo at 105% efficiency or whatever.

The fabrication work is something else though:

I wonder how often they need to rebuild it.

1046 uncorrected WHP, over here in america we go by SAE Corrected WHP. AMS still drives the car on the streets today and making infinate WHP on a dyno right before it broke does not count. And yes i was wrong, the AMS Shop car isnt the worlds highest HP evo, i believe they have the Black Evo from FLA nicely over 1000WHP SAE. Also that car isnt even an evo, once you tubeframe a car then its just that a tube car. were talking unibodies here.

They also dont haft to rebuild it like a top fuel dragster, people have been making big power with 4g63s for a loooong time. John Shepherd is making around 1200WHP-1400WHP for like 6 years? hes only threw a rod once. hes also revving out to 11,000-11,500 before he shifts.

I actually know the driver of the AMS shop Evo and ill ask him if they got any solid passes out of the car last weekend.

Negative, they never were able to get a full pass in... everytime it'd hit boost, the car would swerve violently towards the wall or the centerline.

I really cannot be bothered, you win

The New Zealand Evo 3 isnt really even a Evo anymore, its a bare shell with a Carbon Fibre front end:crazy: But i will mo certainly pay my respects to the 4G63T they produced:tup:

Awesome, it makes less horsepower to the wheels than my car until 6,000rpm.

But it revs to 10,000rpm. And makes 1000+whp from 8,800rpm or so onwards.
You're trying to compare a normal car with a highly specialised drag racer.

So what's your point?

God damn thing even swerved on the dyno.

That a powerband that starts at 6,500rpm and is only about 3,000rpm wide is totally useless.

For what it is being built for, drag racing, it is perfect. Bounce off the limiter on launch, then every gear change from the redline will drop you right back into the meat of the powerband 👍

in the video yes, but they actually got a decent shakedown pass the next day.

Well, I can believe they had traction problems...at least it's not "TV" Tommy Ivo's Four-engine Buick dragster...
