Does anyone actualy use the 7th gear for the S2000? I set my gear ratios so as to get max speed out of 6th gear, as all the tracks online don't have long enough straightaways to utilise 7th gear.

Try adjusting the final gear. I easily max out 7th gear when in the draft at Daytona Road.

I have 6th gear maxed out for Daytona road, and manage to hit around 210 mph when drafting on the straightaways. Only time I used 7th gear was on daytona speedway.

ok mate, whas under impression you didn't see it:sly:

maybe this will give you an answer then...
it all depends on the track,as you can see very clearly in formula1,they adjust the gears to every single track they go to to get the max out of the engine and the car.
but,a formula1 car changes gears in a milli second so there will never be any time lost during a gear change, this meens 2 things...
1:you can allways find the right ratio for every corner, perfect gear into corner and perfect rear(ratio)out of corner....
2:as we drive "normal" cars in gtp we have limited gear change ratio...what i meen is that if you whant your perfect gear ratio out of a slow corner, lets say 2nd gear out of a hairpin, you would initially want to make the gears as short as possible to accelarate as fast as possible out of that corner....but as "normal"(also tuned ones) cars just dont have the grip to have such agressive power on the wheels and they would spinn out of controll immedeately, you have to make some compromises....
for every car there is a perfect setting on every track..if that meens you dont have to use all the gears, than thats it...you dont...:)
see it like this, the fact that the amuse s2000 has 7 gears,is just to give it lots of different possible gear ratios on whatever track you are on(short with haipins without long straights/or tracks like monza where you whant your car to have accelaration smooth thru out the whole track)

so the fact the car has 7gears,doens't meen you have to use them to get the fastest lap out of that particiullar car on that particiullar track.....👍

Exactly my point. When we had the F1 Daytona Speedway, I was winning races without having to change up to 7th gear, because I had the gearbox configured in such a way that I was hitting 220 mph in sixth without drafting, whereas a lot of people could just manage 220 mph in 7th. I used the 7th gear for drafting purposes only. :sly:

I've got it set to just top out in 7th on the Suzuka straight. Shorter gears, better acceleration. And, it keeps the revs higher in the esses so there's not as much turbo lag and vtec to deal with.

Then you must have a very short torque range through your first 4 gears, and have the final ratio set to max. i've tried that, it makes the S2000 under perform in the esses, because of the constant gear changes through the esses.

Not sure what you mean. There's only one chicane, and I don't shift through the esses.

Chicanes are esses, different word, same meaning. Which gear do you take the first 4 esses in after the first turn off the straightaway from the main straight from the grid.

They are not, they are different, hence the different word. A chicane is an offset of a straight piece of track, specifically meant to slow you down (e.g. after a straight or to prevent unsafe situations). Example: Daytona Road. Esses are sequences of regular turns (e.g. turns linked together). Example: Suzuka. They are most definitely not the same.

On-topic: for Suzuka I had it tuned as a six-speed gearbox, haven't tuned it for Daytona Road yet, but I can imagine a 7-speed gearbox will work quite well there.

I think you misunderstood my meaning, as I didn't quite describe it correctly, you are correct in what you say, as in a chicane is one S, and esses are a continual run of turns in the shape of an S. Thats what I mean't by them being the same but different words.

I find tuning the S2000 to utilise the gearbox using only the six gears is much better for Suzuka. Yes I agree that utilising the 7th gear on Daytona road can also produce good performace, but I find that by the time you shift into 7th gear, your having to almost immediately change back down again in order to slow down for the sharp left turn at the end of the straight.

Doesn't matter how many gears a car has, I always set up so that at the fastest point on the course I'm a couple hundred RPM away from redline in top gear.

So to answer your question; Yes, I use the 7th gear every time I drive it.

As GT_Fanatic already stated above: you will find that some cars will produce faster laptimes on certain tracks when not using the top gear. :) (Meaning that if you have a six-speed gearbox you set up 5th gear for the fastest point on the course instead of 6th)

Try this set up for the Amuse S2000, Suzuka 700pp

Power -21
Weight 1164
Tyres R2 R2
Aero 20 20
Total pp 697
Ride height -18 -18
Springs 7 7
Toe -0.20 -0.20
Camber 1.5 1.4
Brake balance 7 5
Max turn 40
ABS 2
Gear ratio
1st 3.125
2nd 2.048
3rd 1.382
4th 1.112
5th 0.931
6th 0.818
7th 0.659
Final 4.953

See what you think. :)

I noticed that the driver uses H-shifter in the Amuse - does it really exist 7-speed H-shifter?

he doesn't use the H shifter, he uses a sequantial shifter (in the same position).
