Read it properly ;)
No where does it say Youtube are sponsoring the team or even backing them in anyway. Chad doesn't even own Youtube anymore.

It does say that Chad Hurley is helping the team though. It actually doesn't say he's giving them any money, he's being hired as a Commercial Manager of sorts.

I'm still yet to be convinced this team is going places, the other 2 new teams have made far more progress seemingly.

The article does state twice that he will be investing money in the team:
Autosport
As well as his financial input, US F1 has said that Hurley will bring his outside experience to the team to help with its corporate strategy and media planning going forward.

Following weeks of speculation linking Hurley with the operation, the Charlotte-based F1 team confirmed on Wednesday night that the millionaire will be the outfit's primary investor.

So thats pretty much 2 of the 3 teams with backing now, I shouldnt think it will be long til the 3rd is sorted.

he may no longer own youtube but he still is a major part of it aswell. thats also probaly a good thing for both F1, American fans, and the team. im sure he will somehow get short documentary or video clips of the team on the front page of youtube as often as he can. this will probably help increase the number of F1 fans in America and probably around the globe at that. seems like hes a win win for all sides.

Woops, how on earth did I miss that line? I do believe I deserve a slap for my previous post doh :dunce:
Well, anyway, its his own money hes investing, not Youtube's (which doesn't have any money in the first place).

Perhaps, but it doesn't really secure the finances of the team - Youtube has never made a profit and Chad was rather fortunate in his timing when he sold it. So I don't expect the Youtube logos all over the car like some are expecting nor am I seeing why people think of Chad as a brilliant businessman either.

Sounds very lucky to me - Google were pretty stupid for buying it in my opinion. Perhaps that makes Chad a good seller, or perhaps he was just very lucky. Either way, we will find out.

Either way, he brings something a F1 team needs. A good Salesman, or good luck.
