DFP is great, I thought I was quick with DS2 but I started improving my lap times after having the wheel just for couple of hours.

Although I have no actual racing experience, and nor have I used the DFP much, I can say with the DS2 I feel I have nearly total control of the cars and knowledge of weight transfer, despite no actual feedback. My brother and dad do not, but I do just fine with it.

(whistles*)Never expected this, wow it's just like I've always thought, ask for help and people will try there best but, I guess some can't be helped!

First of all the people who come in here to bash AND CLEARLY NOT EVEN READ my post are the people who make this webiste terrible.

Thinks i learned:

1. golds do not increase your percentage (shocking)

2. you can draft the pace car, i HEARD it but assumed drafting was disabled.

3. The wheel will allow me to feel the grip of the front wheels????

Observations:

1. I love it when people point out the obvious. Of course im overdriving, every time i have ever bettered my time it was from braking earlier.

2. I have slightly limited finger dexterity due to a genetic condtition.

3. I need a wheel.

4. Some people have nothing to do but tear others down. I am above you.

5. where the heck is the spell checking? why is this website at turtle speed?

1.) i thought you were a scientists/race car driver, if i can do them shouldn't be crusing threw them?

2.)well don't get mad at us just because you ASSUME somthing.

3.)don't have one i don't know

Observations.

1.) then start braking earler on all of them. that's peopel have been saying, so your the one not reading are posts.

2.) but you can race betetr then everyone elese?

3.)no you don't, but you want one.

4.)how are you above me? theres a roof and air.

5.) if your 28 you shouldn't need one, mabe some people need to either stop clogging there bandwith with porn, or you probabbly have a crappy internet provider, like Net Zero, AOL, or anything that is Dial Up, you might have a crappy ass computer (most likely), or you need more ram, or you just might have a full hardrive.

I can't say that I agree 100%, although I do understand your frustration.
I am stuck at a little over 90% right now, and feel that I can't go any further.
I have 7 golds and 18 silvers, can't pass M34 and the one with the Superbird in Seattle. I am also having a LOT of trouble with 4 of the hard rally events. I havne't tried the FGT series, and still need to do 24h Sarthe 2.
I admit it took a long time for me to beat some of the missions, and when I do, the satisfaction is sometimes overwhelming.
I don't have a DFP, although I plan on getting one when taxes come in.
So, I have taken a break from this game for a while, and started on NFSU2 again (just to make the cars look good, and sometimes rediculously funny).

I'm not saying to quit, but maybe take a break from it for a bit. And keep your haed up. You set a track record in real life... Something a lot of drivers haven't done, and something some people will never be able to do (like me)!!! 👍

Brakes are good, but if i get frustrated on GT4 wich never really happens, but i do get pissed at the driving Missions. But i would just take some pics and give some eye candy to the peopel here to look at. Or i would just go play some Counter-Strike: Source.

im a scientist at work 40 hours a week.

Okay, First take a breath.
1. It's a game, have fun playing the game.
2. This is not Real life driving.
3. Some of the License Tests can be quite frustrating.
4. Practice (yes, Practice makes perfect)
5. Have fun, laugh off your near-misses and almost got it's.
6. A lot of "kids" have gold for all Licences.

This is not a flame or ragging on you. I'm older than 28 and have trouble beating some of the Licences too. :)

If the website is so terrable then why do you use your time to post here and expect people to help you out?

Also there are 80 thousand other people who disagree with you

You have learned this how? you said it yourself that you dont have a wheel! Through my own experience using my DFP has not made me a better gt4 driver. I am still just as capable with a DS2, some people just take to the DFP better. As mentioned above, a wheel will not transform you in a superhuman gt4 driver but offers a level of precision unobtainable with a controller which again aids to the driving experince and pleasure of GT4

Ask a silly question, get a silly answer. I have looked through this thread and i can only see people trying to help you out and give their own opinions and experiences. If you see yourself as better than anybody on here who doesnt agree with you 100% then good for you but your wrong!

Im 21 and I havn't got gold on all the licences either and although i share your frustration with them at times remember its just a game!

Spec....

My point is it just dosent need to be this hard to beat a videogame.

I said the same thing when I started playing Devil May Cry 3. The boss on the second level would own me for free. But now, with practice I can beat him without being touched.

It's the same concept in GT4. If you choose to NOT watch the example vids in the license tests, well, you're simply taking away one of your tools.

GT4 is NOT too hard. I personally haven't done all golds on my licenses, but I really don't care about that. I have FUN drifting and racing. I enjoy the game for what I like. If you want perfection, go ahead. But sometimes it's good to just play a game to play game. :)

With the DS2 I always felt like I was trying to press buttons in the correct sequence and pressure. With the DFP I feel like I'm driving.

That phrase has encouraged me to look into a DFP, thank you.

But in response to the initial topic of the thread...

I'm absolutely grateful for the difficulty of the game.
Just a few examples: I recently received God of War for christmas... I beat it once in hard mode, and then again in the newly unlocked "God" mode in about 20 hours. #2 is Ultimate Spiderman which I beat in less than 25 hours. Sphinx was under 30 hours. Goblin Commander was just around 30 hours. Wizardry was about 40 hours. Drakengard was about 40 hours. Baldur's Gate 2 was also about 40 hours. Each of these games cost me about the same as GT4, however I played GT4 for hundreds of hours, as many and more hours as I've put into ALL of the games listed above... but for the same price.

As for the missions... you just need to breathe, relax, maybe smoke a cigarrete. Not a single mission took me more than 10 tries, save for mission ?21? where you have to slingshot around the other cars by drafting. That one took me about 20 tries before I hopped on the net and viewed a replay, beat it 2nd try. Mission 34 did take me about 30 tries but that is because I drive cleany, there are many wallrides and grasscuts to make this mission as easy as the others.

As for the licenses, I haven't tackled those yet but I see a lot more 80 gold licenses than I do 34 missions in signatures... which means they were created with the intention of an average person obtaining gold (unlike the "insane" races in Spiderman 2). And even so you don't have to even bronze a single test to get 100% in the game... you need to view going for gold in the license tests as a "Bonus" for the die-hards, no good prizes just sastifaction (and bragging rights :D).

If you absolutely cannot seem to play this game successfully, then there is one thing you can do... in the instruction book for GT3, there is a section "Driving school by So-and-So" or something to that effect towards the back. This explains general racing, apexing, proper corner techniques, acceleration and braking, how lines are determined and why, etc. This article will turn a bad (or even decent) driver into a good driver. From there it only takes practice to become a great driver.

I think VR6Fidelity has a right to complain about the game being hard. My opinion is that casual gamers may find it very hard to finish the game with those ridiculous 24-hour races and the super-difficult missions. And I don't bother with golding license tests. I've finished the game, and these days I just drive for driving's sake.

Mr. Boy
I think VR6Fidelity has a right to complain about the game being hard. My opinion is that casual gamers may find it very hard to finish the game with those ridiculous 24-hour races and the super-difficult missions.

The 24 hour races were designed so that you can use one of the fastest cars in the game, put it on b-spec mode and just walk away; voila 24 hours later you've won. How's that for easy?!! :sly:

As for the missions... if you can't beat a mission the right way (which means you probably struggle with other games too) then all you have to do is a wallride here and a grasscut there and you'll be smoking the competition, just like using a cheat code 👎 .

So I don't think he (or anyone) has as much a right to complain as you allow him, more the right to ask how to overcome the difficulties he hasn't conquered... which is the lazy-way compared to just reading other forums where people state similiar problems. And sharing your distaste in a thread previously started with the topic matching your problem is a long way off starting a thread with the intent of bad-mouthing a person who has not only given us a great bargain in a video game, but presented us with good challenges which lead to a great amount of satisfaction, just because you have not put forth enough effort to "slay the dragon".

But that's just my 2 cents, I'm by no means trying to start an arguement.
