The most recent article on the home page here at gtplanet shows an interview where Kaz said he wanted another 2 years to develop GT5. Are you kidding me? The game as it is right now after what, 5-6 years is a disgrace. Throw out laser scanned cars that take 6 months per to create. Other games have already proved you can make the cars look just as good without it.

I am slowly losing faith in Kaz and GT. There are so many unnecessary things in GT5 and so many things that should have been included that it's almost mind numbing. Motor swaps? - A HUGE part of Japanese tuning and yet it is still missing. Custom liveries? Online auction of cars to the community? All missing from GT5. And the car setup/tuning is a joke. No tire pressures or temperatures. You don't know for sure which way to go on the differential settings to make it do what you want. NEGATIVE camber is shown as a POSITIVE number and you can't adjust each wheel individually. I would much rather have these things than 14 million different Miata's and GTR's.

I am almost praying some other game company steps up and releases a proper sim for PS3 that blows GT out of the water, since I refuse to buy an XBOX. Otherwise I would have moved to Forza already.

It won't happen, Codemasters went the arcade way with Race Driver: GRID. Shift 2 is, well... Need for Speed.
Simbin, Image Space Incorporated etc... are on PC

I would've waited 2 years for it much better with DTM and FIA-GT.

Me too, I don't see why they don't add this as a DLC instead of making an excuse that PD didn't have enouh time. They probably won't add on things to make GT5 better :grumpy:. Considering they're working on GT6.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only 2 cars I see coming may be the Toyota FT86 II and the BMW 1 Series M Coupe.

I love GT5, but FIA would've been sweet.

That article is also a year old so it would actually only be one year - AKA - Fall 2011.

Not that big of a deal if you ask me.

It's not as if the years after GT4 were solely dedicated to GT5. They released Tourist Trophy and other Gran Turismo variants that led up to GT5. Much of the data from those variants were probably not transferred directly to GT5, either.

Actual development time for GT5 was probably more like three years at most.

2 years? Does that mean that GT6 will be the game we were expecting, with all the features and tracks?
PS1 = GT1<GT2
PS2 = GT3<GT4
PS3 = GT5<GT6
(if GT6 is on PS3)

Agree, I think they did other stuff for awhile and then threw GT5 together at the last minute. They just modeled some new cars and a few tracks, most everything else seems like a direct port from older games based on the graphics and lack of innovation.

Really, the only truly innovative thing in a console racing in awhile is the Autolog feature on NFS:HP and S2U. Whatever you think of the games, Autolog keeps you engaged to your peers and keeps even "mastered" events fresh if your buddies are good drivers.

Another 2 years? What do they only write one or 2 lines of code per day????

The game already took 3 times longer than its competitors, and they wanted to add ANOTHER dev cycle ontop of that? Taking essentially FOUR TIMES longer to make than any of its competitiors take? FFS PD just hire some people and some better management. Stop making excuses.

Did you not read this?

I actually blame Tourist Trophy and GTPSP for the underachieving GT5 we got in the end... :grumpy: Making those 2 were extremely poor decisions made by PD... GT5 is incomplete because of themselves... :grumpy:

well that explains why the Touring car championship and the Dream Car series were both left out to dry in a way.. if you notice.. theres only two premium LM cars and the ISF concept covering the DTM as far as premium goes, if they had not wasted their time with the NASCRAPS modelling each one and instead focused on the FIA and DTM (which wouldve been INSANE) they wouldve saved quite a bit of time and given these two sports racing series the respect (and fresh cars) they deserve. They missed the mark on that one, big time, both event series' are overdue for fresh metal.. the newest LM car besides the Citroen is the LM Spec II, which is a (fictional) 2004 model, and the A4 touring car is the newest DTM, which is also a 2004. last I checked, professional race drivers are not forced to use AT LEAST 6 year old race cars to win championships, because last i checked, said cars wouldve been long beaten to death by now. ironically, unless we pony up the ridiculous cost of the test car or GT Citroen, or get lucky with a 1000 ticket, we're forced to pay out of our pocket for, you guessed it, fixing up WORN OUT race cars, which amounts to $1 million ON TOP of the cost of the car itself. pick up the game PD, RMs dont cut it in my book. in fact, the RMs are so pathetic in number i think they could have been taken out all together and saved FURTHER development time for MORE actual race cars. and we would not have cared about how few in number they were or their lack thereof because they would never have been in the game in the first place. we would have instead praised the newer race cars to high heaven for being in the game, but nope, PD cut the corner again. and what happens when you cut a corner the wrong way? you hit the wall. GT5s glaring incompleteness in many aspects such as this one is that wall.

I wish they didn't do Nascar too, but hey, other people wanting they're demands. And apparently they got thier's.

Lots of people loved GTPSP. I loved it myself. It was more of a demo of GT5 then GT5 Prologue.

Take this shortened development time, and add what was probably an afterthought demand by Sony for 3D support, and you can really picture Kaz getting a bit frustrated with time constraints.

If GT6 ends up being a PS3 title, it ought to be rather good, based on the fact that much of the groundwork(PS3 GT title) will have already been laid. If size constraints become an issue(wouldn't that be nice? Epic content levels!), perhaps they can move up to a dual-layer disc.

Sorry, but all of these points you just brought up are the least important things I ever need in GT... Custom liveries (everyone driving around with huge di**s on their cars), motor swaps (what for??)... Camber is shown that it's negative (-) and we know that, so who cares? And why on earth would you like to give the left wheel more camber than the right wheel?

Anyways that's all personal opinion, but why do you refuse buying a XBOX? If you are not happy with GT5 then try Forza (I haven't but I don't have problems playing GT5) and maybe you find out that GT5 isn't all that bad... and if you tried it and liked it then it's some kind of a whooohoooo microsoft is bad complex...

That's the Problem with GT5: time.
If you think about it, Polyphony digital only has around 150 employees. Because they don't have enough manpower, they have to rush to get things done. GT5, in truth, is an unfinished project set at creating a realistic and life like simulator.

It's not as if the years after GT4 were solely dedicated to GT5. They released Tourist Trophy and other Gran Turismo variants that led up to GT5. Much of the data from those variants were probably not transferred directly to GT5, either.

That's also true. After GT4, there was Vision Gran Turismo, Then Gran Turismo HD was to be released late 2007, before being cancelled. By suddenly changing thought and cancelling GTHD was a bad idea, and Polyphony pretty much shot themselves in the foot, because then they had to rush to finish GT5.

If Polyphony can manage time well, GT6 Prologue and GT6 may come in a few years time.

First, why would people drive around with di**s on their car? I want to be able to re-create and design my own racing liveries. WHAT ARE MOTOR SWAPS FOR?! I sincerely hope that is not a serious question. Camber that is shown correctly is (1) less confusing (2) attention to detail, something Kaz prides himself on. And why would you give one wheel more camber? You obviously don't know about cross camber and cross caster setups. Oh, caster, another setup option vacant of GT5 that can greatly affect a cars handling performance.

Well there would be many thing that could have been added, but at some point it just gets a bit too complicated. As you said some things aren't perfect yet, so better fix that first...

The motor swap thing is just something I don't need at all, why would I want to drive a BMW with an Audi engine or a Ferrari with a Skyline engine? I don't see any benefit in it...

Why would people drive around with stupid things on there car? Just because they could do it and think its funny, there are too many boys and not yet that grown up men out there...

Perfect examples of either sour grapes or just ignorance... either you know why and you are making excuses why you don't want them or you honestly have no idea why these things are important despite the fact both issues you bring up are completely common and huge parts of the car world...

Why would people make custom liveries... no one would do that... oh wait, in the real world there are millions of custom liveries yeah no one would do that... I mean it's not like custom liveries have proved themselves to be a huge and valuable part of a racing video game on a console recently... nah...

Why would you want to engine swap? Weird.. people pay thousands to swap engines between cars... sure there couldn't be any possible reason.

While we are at this, why would people wear clothes? What could be the point in that? And why would people have heaters in their house? No one would do that...

Didn't get my copy of GT5 until late Jan. With GT6 I plan to wait 6 months to see the reviews first. My protest is coming from my wallet being closed. The next one better be a good one.

I was just reading gameinformer and they had a section about when consoles will be out, and they had no info on any of them.

also i fully agree with OP

So you wouldnt want to drive a Silvia with a R34 Skyline engine? or a Skyline with a SuperGT V8? what about AE86's with supra engines? its not the engine swapping between companies, its swapping engines between same make cars and thats a big thing in Japan. Sure would be fun to drive a F458 with a 599 or Enzo V12 tho.....

Totally agree. Despite being a huge step in term of graphics, i was quite disappointed with the content of GT3 10 years ago. Then came GT4 and we all had the game we were expecting.

I think that things are going to be similar with the PS3. And don't worry guys, GT6 will be on PS3 for sure. Remember that Kaz said the same thing years ago about GT4 when mentionning that some features that he included in the game were more adapted to the next gen console.

For my part, i prefer that the PD guys focus on a better and more complete GT6 instead of focusing on (free) DLC (as long as it doesn't take 5 years). And remember that there are things that CAN NOT be fixed by DLC..

.. In the meanwhile we have GT5 which may i recall you, isn't bad at all especially if you look elsewhere... I think that GT5 is a bad game only if you compare it to what it actually should have been..
