Another glitch, apparently.

I was doing an endurance race with my GT-One, I finished the race in 2nd, barely losing to the R89. And this just amazes me. 1st, 2nd, and 5th place cars finished the race, but 3rd and 4th didn't?



Possible glitch?

Nope, you just exited the race before those cars could finish the laps they were on- hence no final race time was given.

That maybe so, but if 3rd and 4th place cars didn't finish, how did 5th place finish and still be in 5th?

He means that the 3rd, 4th, and 6th cars did not cross the finish line (to have their time recorded) before you exited.

Had they crossed, then their times would be posted.

If the race goes by hours instead of laps, then you just race until the time is up, and you cross the line. The Toyota could have been 2 or 3 laps behind, but he crossed the line before the other cars did.

After the 1st place car crosses the line the race is over if any car behind them crosses the line they finish the race even if they still have some laps to go.

Has anyone actually looked at the times? 2nd and 5th are within a 100th of a second of eachother. I don't see how 3rd and 4th can be somewhere else on the track and finish within that window.

Um, how about 5th crossed the line within a 100th of 2nd but wasn't on the same lap?

3rd and 4th were in the gap between those two in laps... 5th didn't get to complete as many laps as the others.

First finishes the race.
After that, every car to cross the line is done regardless of what lap they are on (except in this case 2nd had to finish as well since 2nd was our racer).
2nd finished the race, then before 3rd and 4th could finish their last attempted laps, 5th finished (immediately behind 2nd just on a different lap).
Then 2nd (our player) exited the race without allowing 3rd and 4th a chance to finish their laps and inturn didn't allow them the chance to get a final race time.

It's a 150 mile race, not a timed race. If 5th wasn't on the same lap, he would have got "+1 Lap", not a time almost identical to 2nd.

Actually, he's right, usually GT4 displays +x amount of laps, instead of a time

The main thing too look at is the time. How can 5th place have finished the race 1 lap down, and still have an almost identical time to 2nd place?

On this screen (the Results one after the race) GT4 always displays the finish times of the cars as they cross the line, without reference to lap numbers. This is why in my A-Spec Endurance companion I always had to note when I lapped cars myself.

In this case the 2nd place car's finish time is 0.2s behind the 1st place car's finish time, and 5th place's finish time is a further 0.1s back. But because they were lapped this is the finish time as they cross the line on their final valid lap, and they have however many laps they were down that they cannot complete. 3rd, 4th and 6th did not cross the line between the 1st place car finishing and the user exiting the race.

The display is inadequate in the amount of information it gives though.

The funny thing about GT4 is that when you cross the finish line, the game shows the laps and then switches to the time you spent on that race as famine said.

Since I wanted to know how many laps the S2000 was down in the Nür25h-race, me & my co-pilot escorted the last car home to the finish-line and crossed it just before the S2000 - it's really the only way of getting an idea of how many laps they are down if you don't takes notes (like famine did).

You could wait once you've crossed the line and not go into the post race screen (the one in the picture). Just leave the computer driving your car after the race, then the time's will be updated as each car crosses the line.

It automatically exits after about 30 seconds.

Which is irritating.

This is a real pain when you are trying to work out race times for the complete field.
