So many people have been looking forward to GT5 for so long, I honestly think some people may actually feel depressed when it comes out. Like post-natal depression!

It's going to feel very very weird when I have that box in my hand and I bet I just let it sit on the table for an hour or so while I get a beer to take stock of everything. Maybe flick through the book a bit first to ease me in gently.

Can you imagine what this place is going to be like? It's uncharted territory for sure. Of course it will be amazing but I'm actually starting to get scared that it may not be five years of obsession amazing. Pre-race nerves maybe?

How do you think you'll feel?

There have been quite a few very similar threads to this in the GT5 section

Well clearly he doesn't have enough posts to put it in the GT5 section!

:p

Sorry, it's all a bit too serious in there though at the moment, thought it would be more light-hearted in here.

Depressed, worried, fea....oh we're talking about GT5 in the Rumble Strip? Oh didn't notice.

I say who cares, I'll buy the game, play the game, beat the game. I will enjoy the wait, and I'm fine with it. In fact, if they said the game was cancelled, I would not care as much as I had had it been said, say 2 months earlier?

It's just a game people, remember that.

When you talk about setting the box on the table and just grabbing a beer, I felt the same way about MW2. I had been waiting for months and months for the game, went to the midnight release and waited in line behind 100 other ubernerds at gamestop...I got the game and on the way home I felt relaxed, my urge to play the game had dropped, I can't really explain how I felt.

But then I got home and played it until the sun started rising

I'm getting that way with this game now...I played GT4 a lot until it got stolen out of my house, but I never rebought it because I was playing Halo 2 nonstop. This time around I have no other game interests besides LBP2 but I don't see GT5 taking a backburner over it.

edit: Oh, and about imagining what this place will be like...I guarantee you it crashes AT LEAST once...

MaddenMania always used to crashed on NCAA/Madden release days, it was a ritual.

edit2: Hopefully the GT5 general discussion forum will break off the big ass threads, its almost overwhelming to gtp noobs. (i.e. me)

I know exactely what you mean but my anticipation is constantly rising day by day and I feel like it will reach its peak by the moment I pop in the disc, will be so JOYFULL lol.

I know... I have been playing around with my new GT3RS wheel with clubsport pedals today and my hype levels have increased easily. I have been having a lot more fun than I ever had with a controller. I only wish I could play GT4 on my PS3 with it. I can't wait for GT5 to come out.

The GT5 section always has and always will be a bit too serious which is one of the reasons why it's good to come to The Rumble Strip section and not talk about GT5.

There is plenty of other interesting stuff going on here though so take a look around if you need a break from the GT5 section but for the love of god don't go near the Opinions and Current Events section, I went there once and got a good Scaffing. You could even get Duke'd or Smallhorses'd and if you're particularly unlucky you might get Sphinx'd which will really make your eyes water!

Agreed and moved.

It's also good to just reply to existing threads about how you have a boner over the game.

Wow man, you take videogames way more seriously than I do. It's just entertainment to me when Im bored. If I have nothing to do, fire up some races, turn it off, continue on with life.

I have no doubt I will be feeling butterflies on my way home from blockbuster. It will change when I get home and have to change diapers lol.

My studies will unfortunately eat the time I want to spend with GT5...but I do know that whenever I'll play it it will be glorious.

If anyone seriously thinks that the possible lack of excitement, a feeling of let down or anticlimax for whatever reason brought about by a videogame in any way relates or compares to a serious ( or even minor ) depression of any kind, then boy are you having a nice life.
Count your blessings I would suggest...........

I think that's why he mentioned "light-hearted," we all have to admit in some capacity or another felt something for a game at one time or another. The happiness of a new game or console? The anger of a bad game, or frustration from Mission 34. Seriously, I don't want to come off in a bad way, but maybe we all just need to lighten up and enjoy this thread for what ever comical relief or fanboyism it brings?

I think my excitement for the game has subsided to the point i'm barely interested in the latest news on this game any more. When I get the game in my hand the chances are I will not yet have purchased a PS3 to play it on, so there will be further waiting for me.

I have my doubts as to whether i'll be able to complete the game in my first run through (And certainly not on my first sitting, like with many other games i've played recently). So I don't really care when I get the game, my concern is how long is it going to keep me occupied for. GT4 kept me occupied for a long long time, and this game is supposedly bigger, so it looks promising.

I think as soon as I get the console and the game together, my excitement will return, tenfold. I'll watch the opening movie just to heighten the anticipation that little bit more :D

After all the roller coaster rides from E3, Gamescom and TGS, it's not surprising that we don't feel as excited anymore. It's because we have been constantly blown away by what Kaz revealed this year, it's going to take much more than a release to "Wow" us now. In other words, we have become "spoiled" by what's already confirmed in GT5 and surprises have now become expectations.

Remember how crazy everyone was when Ferrari and Lambo made it in. Then the hype with revised damage and track editor. And finally the last punch with weather. Now? It's expected that these features are in, otherwise it'll be a "disappointment." I'm sure if GT5 launched without letting out details of the major features, everyone would be so hyped up right now, guessing this and that. To prove my point, look at the Hot Topics on GT5 section, people are discussing about things that are still unknown.

Sad but true, but satisfaction is an endless void that will just keep getting bigger as you try to put more stuff into it to crave its hunger. Key thing is to be happy with what you get. 👍

I think a part of it is that some people are expecting far too much from the game, that they are disappointed now. Me? I'm still more than anxious to get going with the game. I'm really excited to see how the physics have improved over the time trial in January. All the confirmations have spoiled us, but it seems like people were more interested in knowing what was made, rather than looking forward to experiencing it. That's disappointing.

I have had allot of ups and downs with the game. I can sometimes get OCD with stuff, and with GT5 this happens allot. I sometimes loose sleep over it, if I am say excited by some new news/info etc. Then for days sometimes weeks GT5 will not occupy any thought process.

When I actually get my hands on the game. For that moment, I will not let the game rule me, I will like many, sit the game down on the coffee table, then I will go off have a beer, a few smokes, mabe read a book or watch desperate houswifes with my GF, then when I am really bored and have nothing else to do then I may just spin the disc in the PS3 or I may watch some ugly betty then some one Tree Hill and perhaps sex in the city 2. I dunno what do you all think?

I count each day with growing anticipation and I'll be worried if it should lead to depression when having the game. There are other things that worry me more than a video game.

And may I ask why people want to relax with beers after picking up the game? I couldn't keep my hands off it unless I had a responsibility elsewhere.

Tip: Relax with beers while watching your race replays :D

What good is Christmas day if you already know what you're getting? My advice is to refrain from looking at GT5 car lists, track lists, high def photos, interviews, youtube videos, BUT that would mean staying away from gtplanet (this is not an option!). I'm guilty of obsessing over this game too so hopefully Kaz has some more features left to reveal.
