It is easy because there is no restrictions.
I think it comes down to two points of view;
- some prefer events to be 'open' and you set the difficulty
- others prefer the challenge of a tough event where you cannot just simply overpower opponents, this type of player wants to feel pride about achieving a tough goal that is forced upon them

In the race series GT5 only caters for the former, whereas GT3 and GT4 both had a few races that fell into the latter category as well, and which I think were the most fun, remember the Vauxhall Speedster challenge ?

GT5 has 'dumbed down' the racing. Something as simple as giving extra XP (aka GT4s Aspec points) according to what you win with would have made a big difference.

Well I hope they fix the rightmost split time in Live Timing. We can't see it if the number of sectors > 3

The AI cannot adjust its tyres prior to a race in a championship. You can. So you hit Suzuka with rain tyres and they hit it with slicks...in the rain. Gives you half a lap advantage on lap 1.

The first is a design bug, the second a tweak of the ingame mechanics.

Bugs should be fixed.

This is like strange one :)

"Interior" dials are "mph for accuracy" because mph is the speed unit used in Japan. So, all Super GT cars actually have their dials in mph because car-computers are using mph to display car's current speed.

It is not "preference", it is like that in RL.

Really? Because in all my years of importing Japanese cars, selling them, spending time in the country itself, I've yet to come across any domestic Japanese model that is in mph. All their speed signs are in km/h as well.

Typo, I was meaning kph.

Forget about my notion above.

But once you save, you could get out and do some other stuff, online racing and more A Spec. Then continue the endurance whenever you want.
I disagree with this notion. One thing GT has always strived to do is maintain some sense of realism. Allowing you to leave an endurance race to run other races and then continue is far off of the mark and should not be in the game.

Save would be ok but you should not be able to do anything else in GT until you either complete the race or cancel it.

Yes I personally like the restricted races better. It is to tempting to run a faster car when the game lets you do it especially if you already have a car in the garage that can win with ease. People want to win the race, get the prize and move on but then they miss out on the challenge.

Running restricted races that are hard actually improves your driving. Running unrestriced races with an overpowered car does little more than bore you.

I totally agree about the A-Spec style extra XP would have been a great addition to the game.

I seem to remember in GT4 (or maybe it was GT3) that the game logic would pick opposition cars based on the BHP of your car, at least for some of the races. I'm sure this could be possible for GT5.
If you take the FGT to a race then the AI should be able to use them too.
This would stop the races being a walk over for an overpowered car.
All they need to do is make the AI drivers not so good in the Beginner level races and better drivers at the higher levels. Keep the cars they drive competetive with yours.

Yes exactly, the extreme sector should have extreme AI in that! In other games the AI get smarter and smarter the higher the level you go, as in F1:2010. But I don't see why I should spend half my time on GT5 trying to hand pick a car and hand picking tyres just so I can be close to the AI ... Work that should have been done by PD!

What do I say? Game manufacturers are missing the point these days!

For example, Metal Gear Solid 1 should be re-made in 1080i Graphics and with MGS4 abilities, that would be mint!

I say bring back GT3 exactly how it was track and event wise, update the graphics, update the cars, update the AI, and release that as GT6!

No way... We need online racing. Every GT title prior to GT5P had no online modes so we do not want a duplicate of a game that is for single player only.

It would be nice if A-Spec mode was a bit more challenging but seeing as how I have already completed all but 3 races a little late for that anyway. Online mode is where it is at. We need more options and a full set of leaderboards for online racing and hot lapping this will be the key factor in the longevity of GT5 and potential sales of future releases.

GT4 had a fixed set of AI cars that did not change based on your car and most races were setup to where you could enter overpowered cars if you wanted. Only a few races were truly challenging.

1. I really look forward to remote b-spec racing.

2. Its been mentioned before, but you should be able to split time driving endurance races with your b-spec drivers. Much more realistic that way too. One driver doesn't do 24 hours at le Mans, you shouldn't have to in GT5.

3. I agree that it'd be great to be able to race against your own b-spec drivers, at least in practice but more importantly, being able to use them to set up your car tuning would be fantastic.

4. I would really like to see qualifying as an option for a-spec races.

Sorry I'm missing the point of the race generator in your sig ... please explain ... is it just something to do in practice?

Yep, thats it. Something to use if you have loads of cars and don't know what to drive. Mostly I did it to brush up on my javascript and I've always wanted to make one.

Two things which in my opinion are both do-able and would keep me busy for months.

Ability to change cars via garage in Practice mode. Bugs me when I have to exit all the way out to change car and then watch the track load again! Grrrr.....

Extend the leaderboards in Practice mode to 100 instead of 10. There are 1000 cars in the game and I can only see my top 10 fastest? WTF. What if I want to benchmark two slower cars against each other? I can't because my high BHP cars are hogging the top 10. Yes I know I can clear the list down but that isn't ideal if I want to keep whats listed in the first place.

I would like to see a personal "Top Gear Leader Board"
So you can take all your diffrent cars on the Top Gear Track and have a record of whats fastest or slowest!

They do!👍

Go to practice mode and do a free run!

It will record your best times with each car at any track.

- I would love to be able to select the cars i will race against. Im so tired of racing the same cars all the time. Even when i just want to have fun in arcade, the will still put 3 Audi R8, 2 F40s and 2 Californias ..etc..

- More premium cars, more wheels , more aero add ons

- new paint model where you dont waste your chip every time you use that paint.

- When you buy an aero add on, you own it. Right now, if i decide to change the spoiler on my Enzo, i will lose $50k...

B-Spec "maintain pace" should last the entire race if you never run another command.

OMG I soooooo agree! Also would like to set ahead of time when to pit, not according to how cranky Bob feels, but based on Laps.

ie. 30 lap race, would like to pit at lap 15, change tires and add 20L

Is this so hard to understand Poly?

Haven't read through the thread, so apologies in advance if it's already been mentioned...but:

We need more garage "buttons"...i.e., on the main photomode screen, practice screen, etc. so we don't have to go back to the home menu, navigate to the garage icon, and wait for it to load just to pick another car to photograph or take out for a practice lap.

4. I would really like to see qualifying as an option for a-spec races.

This 👍 As well as being able to do a shakedown.

A few people have already said it, but a few more RM options for premium cars... I'd love a RM Ferrari, BMW or Mercedes :)

On the topic of race mods I would like to see one for the Mustang. And would love to see one for the 67 Cougar. That car would be a beast with the aero package on it.

3.) Practice and qualifying laps prior to races. This needs to be added for both A-spec and B-spec. Normally it would be puzzling to me how a simple feature like this could be left out of the "real driving simulator", but considering some of the other shortcomings of this game, it doesn't surprise me that much. Incredibly frustrating B-spec races, such as Cote de' Azur in the Historic Car Cup, would become much less frustrating if you could gain the pole position by getting to qualify prior to the race. Having to forever start in the 7th spot is incredibly unrealistic and ruins a lot of the immersion IMO.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! I agree with all of your other points as well but this one is number 1 to me personally.

Being able to qualify in order to gain a fair advantage would make the game way less tedious at times. Practice sessions and a qualifying sessions should really be available in every championship, especially for the sake of making B-Spec less frustrating.

I don't know about anyone else but I had a very frustrating time with the B-Spec NASCAR championship thing because I was sort of taking potluck stabs at car set-up going into each race. My B-Spec guy is such a sensitive little wiener that any slight miscalculation on my part in regards his car set-up would see the whole field file by him in one graceful robot-like stream of perfection. That drove me crazy and I gave up on the whole B-Spec endeavor all together. It's not so bad, all I wanted was a Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition and a Toyota 7 and I have those both now....

Anyway tho, the game needs qualifying. Old GT's had it. I can't begin to imagine why they thought it would be better without it.

The more I think about it now, the more I think it's too late to introduce it. I mean, what's the point? It wasn't there when we needed it and now we've struggled on without it and it's too late to add it now. I think it's like that with a lot of these things people have mentioned... a lot of these features really should have just been there from the start, frankly.

all of above, plus; the option to load up all yourre cars from Gt1,2,3 etc Including the racingmods
then im really happy :)

Not sure what the big deal is about qualifing. I find that the races are far to easy as is and starting me on the pole would make it even easier. Woudl be ok if they also restricted your tires, weight and HP but as is I do not see a need for it.

Yes even in B-Spec most of the races are very easy and if you could start in front even the races that are a bit hard would be simple. The only exception would be the Daytona Nascar race. Even starting on the pole would not help your chances of winning much if you do not know what you are doing and the other cars will just train past you.

The Nascar race is not hard to win if you have a decent driver and push him to the edge the entire race.

This is the main thing I would like to see, also bring back the GT4 tracks.

I just crave one feature: That you d be able to share time behind the wheel with your b-spec bob in the endurance races.

For gods sake. Next race for me is Tsukuba 9 hrs.

Individual gears would be great too. And fulfill the promise of upgrading more cars to premium. But please PD, PLEASE dont make me drive that whole 9 hrs, let alone the 24 hrs later on...

Can't agree more about the need to mix A & B spec in endurance as in GT4. That was perfect for me.

In addition to this, I WISH a save game option in endurance races and a save game option between races in a Championship (also existed in GT4).

Why are these small features so hard to be implemented when HDDs now are standards PS3?

If these were fixed GT5 would be almost perfect. I don't care much about cockpit
view in all cars...

Not sure what the big deal is about qualifing.

It's pretty simple, really; The game would be better if it had qualifying.

Qualifying is a big part of racing. It's a part of many motor sports. It's also a part of most racing video games. It's even been a part of previous Gran Turismo. It's silly to not have it. It's a glaring omission.

Obviously starting from the front of the grid would make the race easier, that's actually the point. I knew that already.

If you personally don't want to make the race that bit easier then simply don't qualify. Or, actually, you could qualify and deliberately sabotage your own lap in order to be placed at the back of the grid, thereby giving you an extra challenge! How 'bout that, eh? That'd be pretty nifty, huh?

Anyway, the choice to qualify is all I'm asking for. I don't see why you would want people to be deprived of that choice simply because you yourself would not choose it.

The thing is is that it is already to easy. Why a need to make it even easier? As it stands there are only 2 or 3 races that even present a challenge unless you go in with a stock car and start in the back.

Combine that with the fact that many if not most of us have already completed all but the long endurance races would make this basically a waste of time for the programmers to be working on. Many other things much more needed than this.
