Heya folks. So anyway, my logic is if there's no difference between the US version of Prologue, and the Euro version of prologue, why not just buy the euro version, pay whatever premium it takes for doing it through ebay, and then just play with my new toy two to three weeks early. I wouldn't pay too much, but the Japanese version has been selling on ebay recently from 40-60, which is reasonable. (Or does anybody know any sneaky way of downloading GT5P from the euro PS online store, or have I broken a rule by asking such a question?)

So anyway, does anybody know if there's any problems with running a Euro version here in the good old US of A, or if I'll miss out on any noteworthy additions or whatnot?

Sorry that you are going to have to be the one that cops it but why is there constantly people posting questions in which the only people that could possibly know the answer to is a psychic or someone from PD. There are information threads that say exactly what the known situation is now, thats all the info there is and nothing more is known.

Euro version is missing a few cars, whether they get updated when the US release is out we have no idea. The game is region free as are all ps3 games, so the game will run on a US ps3.

I'm not expecting you fine folks to be psychic, I was just wondering if those who follow this game more closely than me have seen or heard any mention of differences from the various video game review sites out there. For example, I didn't know the euro version is missing a few cars... so thanks...

I Will Bare Knuckle Fist Fight Anybody Who Wants To Flame Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheawgkuoebtfvzdkj

No one is sure yet but the USA version is suppose to have 5 more cars than the EU one although the EU one may just be updated with them on the 17th of April other than that I dont think there is any difference, but there has been no confirmation of the Ferrari F2007 in the US version that I know of.
If you wanted to download the EU version you can set up an European account and use either a European or International credit card to put money into the "wallet" to buy the game. However you may only be able to race against europeans online if the game is region restricted online, therefore you would probably get alot of lag. But again no one knows yet if it is region restricted. Sorry I couldnt give you a more definite answer!

I don't think so, the US official car list has been updated since then, removing those extra cars.

Thanks for that one GT4. If when the PAL version comes out, if people with the JP version can play with them, I wonder if we can assume there are no regional restrictions. Looks like I'll be ebaying it if at all, though.

Since GT5P itself is a work in progress, I would not be surprised if there were an extra car or two, or perhaps some new feature to be kicked off in the US release. They are probably very likely to provide an update at some point, though, in order to bring each version to parity.

ooooOOOOoooo, thanks for the link wally! I think I'm just guna order from that site, and hope beyond hope that everything will work out just fine... i'm such an impulsive baby.

I am VERY surprised and disappointed that PD has not given us any updates on whether or not GT5P's online mode will be region free or region specific. I am also surprised many you, who are alleged giant GT fans, have not been asking this question more often and demanding an answer from PD!

I play my games often during the graveyard hours when many other Americans are asleep, and when many Europeans and Japanese/Chinese players are up playing, so these are the people I will mostly like run into. But if PD makes the online limited to the players country I am going to be V-E-R-Y pissed off! Who am I gonna play against at 2 O'clock in the morning when the rest of the US are asleep? :indiff: :guilty:

Me, from time to time. (:

I do agree that there needs to be a more definitive answer though.

I hope they don't make it limited. As like you guys I don't sleep much.

Somewhere on this forum or the Prologue forum there is a pic of a promotional banner with the tag line "Drivers of the world unite"

So there is still hope

Found it

I dont think it will be online limited as i play the imported japanese version online with no problems.
I have also got the eu version on preorder from gameplay.uk.
It is released here on the 28th march not long to go now.

Does anybody know if there were major differences between the regional versions of GT4? I know this is a totally different case, because we're online now and can give out patches, but we're also playing with each other online so.. what can I say, I'm just really hoping that every version gets patched so we can ALL be on the same level with cars/features/physics.

If you've managed to hold off since December, then waiting a few more weeks isn't all that bad for your correct version. We still don't know if there will be any sort of region lock for online play. It sure would suck if the game you have cannot be played online because you live in the wrong country.

MotorStorm started with global online, but that changed pretty quick, which sucked.

I have no problem playing online with the Japanese version.

And we're all lesser for it!

Anyway, I'm going through phases with this, but I think I've decided that if I'm not going to be able to race on USA servers from day 1, I'm just going to hold off on buying the PAL version. I'm usually up at odd hours, so I mostly race with Europeans and Asians in the sim racing I do already on my PC, but there's a few people who I know in person whom I'd like to race with as well, and I just don't want to get trapped into having any update or feature issues with having the wrong CD.

If, however, the game comes out and it gets confirmed that there's no diff... well then I'll still pay the $10 premium of buying it from that foreign webpage that was posted in another thread, even if I get the game only 4 days early..

And we're all lesser for it!

I addressed this to you via PM, but you seem to wish for it to be a public issue, so here we go.

The AP clearly states that spam and/or off-topic posts, threads, etc are not permitted. A poll on a GT5:P thread about the current state of Brittany Spears well being clearly falls into the category of spam, Not only that but its also generated a number of posts which added nothing to the thread as a whole.

So to be quite clear about it, the thread was th lesser for the pointless poll, the AUP is not an optional part of being a member here. So either follow the AUP or don't post, the choice is yours.
