I think its funny the game is like out for a month and I see people like I'm level 35, I'm level 40.. I think you should play less go outside instead :P Then it will stay fun :) I have bought the game just a week after release and still enjoy it.

I found a Pace Skyline in UCD hit the track and was like 3 hours through, only me.. in practice and had a pretty nice time. I think its all because some of the people here were like "Oh my gawd, I have to play this game non stop to get that X2010!" Plz dont get offended by that but it sounds like that in my ears when I read the forum.

I seriously not playing for that. Just driving gives me good time too :) Photomode = always fun! I already have fun when I get a cool car in UCD so I can make shots of it after taking it for a spin

And if you are searching for fun why not organize a race with some friends, and let say choose 3 cars for the winners :) That should be fun imo

Well then you'll have to find some time to practice and improve your driving skills. If you can't do that then turn on all the assists (except ASM which slows you down). You really shouldn't be hitting the wall at level 20.

I've actually turned off skid recovery, and have the active steering on mild and the steering on Simulation I believe but find that if I turn ASM off I spin out like crazy in any rear drive car so I've been leaving that and and slowly learning how to manage oversteer but it just seems impossible to me. Maybe it's because I've never driven a rear drive car in real life (only front and my current AWD Subaru) but I just haven't the slightest idea of how to manage a fast lap time without spinning out like crazy.

I have No idea how someone can get bored of this game. The biggest problem I have with this game is there is too much to do I can't make up my mind that I waste about 30 minutes deciding what to do .I really Love this game and No I don't play Online often as PD have decided that My 512 Internet connection isn't up to their Standard (It is pretty darn expensive where I live but it works great on all other games online but GT5).Time trails are just superfun whilst still waiting for the leaderboards.

Im kinda loosing interest in playing every night like i used to.

My time is limited due to work and wife stuff, and the only time i get to play is around 2 hours per night before i need to go to bed.

I guess not being an online gamer doesnt help me out much. I do still enjoy the game, but its just not the same feeling now...............kinda lost its novelty if you will.

Maybe someone can post some encouragment for me, which will help me to get back into it.

NAT 3 has been known to have issues online in multiple games. NAT 2 is generally the best possibility. Example of this is I replaced my router over the weekend(for other reasons) and when I first fired up GT5 I either couldn't connect to a room or couldn't stay connected, was getting dropped immediately. Ran network test on ps3 and it showed NAT 3. I Then put the ps3's IP in the DMZ and rebooted the router. Reran the network test on the ps3 and it was then showing NAT 2. From then on I've not had a single connection problem with GT5.

Have got NAT type 2, as it was necessary for Red Dead Redemption. Have had some good races online in GT5, but most of the time I get disconnected from server or the game suddenly freezes when returning to lobby. Annoying.

Try manually setting the DNS on the ps3

I can kind of see how some people might be getting bored so quickly, with the lack of A-Spec races but I have found many things to do. I have not finished A-spec yet, rarely do online races yet(mainly drag racing, drifting or driving around the top gear test track), have almost finished all of the seasonal events(really enjoy them) and still have to learn how to properly tune cars myself, and do time trials.

Oh and not to mention my fanatec wheel just came 2 days before I came home for the holidays, so I basically haven't even used it. Once I go back I plan on doing the first endurance event using it to get used to driving with it. Needless to say I dont think I will be bored for quite a while, especially if we keep on getting seasonal events or other forms of DLC.

Ok so since I sort of wasn't getting any better I decided to try and learn how to manage a RWD car without driving aids as that has been one of the things that's been keeping me back.

I tried with a nice slow car, a Triumph Spitfire. It was giving me all sorts of problems but eventually I was able to get it around the track without uncontrollable oversteer. I then gradually turned off all the other driving aids (even Active steering) and began driving an FT-86. I was amazed at how much better it handled I was barely sliding at all. I then realized that the Spitfire and the Opel Speedster Turbo I was driving earlier and sliding around like mad had Comfort tires on then.

I then went back to the Opel Speedster Turbo I was driving earlier tonight but I put Sports tires on it (just Sports Hard as it hard comfort soft on it) and MY GOD what a difference. I was able to drive the thing and easily beat my lap times when I had the driving aids turned on.

So I'm not going to say I won't use ASM from time to time but I'm starting to learn to manage a RWD car without it, I knew tires helped but now that I use a wheel you notice just how much better tires make a difference with the driving aids off. That and how a nice steady or feathering of the throttle keeps you from oversteering.

Got GT5 since release day, and the fun is not there anymore.
Still playing the game, but it wont be long till I switch to something else.

I'm 36 Aspec, 37 Bspec.
I did all my endurance races with similar cars the IA is using, to get a bit of a challenge. And now what's left ? Grinding till 40, doing 24h races over and over to finally finish A & B spec.
At this point I have golded a lot of things, and the only challenge left I have in mind is to get a garage filled up with 1031 different cars. And even that, wth the stupid used car system, is getting boring.

As much as I love playing online, I dont find the online of GT5 very attractive at all.

GT5 is my 2010 Duke Nukem Forever. Something I've been waiting for years but that did dot deliver at all.

Not quite yet, though I won't lie having B spec and A spec separate isn't great in my opinion, at least make the races different, not too interested in baby sitting the computer for races I've already completed. Still trying to be the formula GT championship, why can't I save between races T_T!!!!!

And it is our fault that we don't find GT5 challenging?

Yes it is. If you're not willing to seek challenge, don't complain about being bored. Gran Turismo has always offered a slew of cars which are overkillish, but also many which are underdogs. It's your choice. If you're choosing the overkill cars all the time, it's no wonder you're bored. *shrugs* Stating the obvious here.

While I understand and support the general idea, I think it's not so simple.

The A-Spec events in GT5 are almost free of tire and horsepower restrictions. Of course, one can argue that this actually is good, because the beginners can enter events with a high-powered car, and the pros can restrict themselves with choosing basic tire compounds and leaving their cars in stock form. Still, one has to question why these restrictions were removed at all, because they did exist in earlier Gran Turismos and were absolutely fine. For those who find these events too hard, there are helpers like the skid recovery to use.

Also, I find tackling the AI with an equally capable car very unsatisfying, because they tend to pull a lot of strange maneuvers on a lot of tracks. Just yesterday, I did the Supercar challenge with my beloved McLaren F1, and I was very glad there is no damage involved in this race yet. Sometimes the AI leaves room for me, sometimes it just pulls into me or shoves me off the track. At the same time, they seem to be glued to the tarmac. I see some progress in some reactions of the AI, but overall, for a game that will have damage in the near future, this is unacceptable.

So I can, technically, restrict myself and thus make my A-Spec events more thrilling. But I have to do that on my own, and I have to put up with the AI.

That is indeed a scary thought. The AI drive like bumper cars, hell-bent on following their own 'perfect line' as if on rails. Having a more serious damage model will end up being a terrible handicap if you don't manage to pull out of the pack before the first turn.

No way! You should never get bored of GT5. I was still playing GT4 at some points right up until the release on GT5. To me these games are never ending!! :)

It's funny because at times I do find myself struggling to find something to do in GT5. It's normally caused by the fact I have a couple of championships to race and don't have the time to sit down and do them in one go, and I can't leave the game running as I use the PS3 to watch TV via PlayTV each night.

I do think the game could have been structured a bit better, as at times you do find yourself waiting for a certain car to appear, or have long enough to do a single championship in one sitting.

I will get bored of it one day, but when I have uncharted 2 waiting to be played there's not much any game can do :D

Hell no, nowhere near bored. Only had the game five days, got my wheel hooked up today, and its increased the fun factor tenfold. Even the slow races are fun with a wheel :dopey:

A spec is alright but Bspec and the endurance challenges are just a waste of time. I've never been so bored in my life doing those.

May finish A spec and trade the game in for Mass Effect 3

What is your motivation to complete all the events it if you don't plan to keep it? Completing A-Spec events is sort of like building a foundation for the online experience.

For me racing games are about racing. To be the best driver I can. This game also gives you a chance to be the best tuner you can be. So the game starts when the leaderboards go online. Until then it's practice.

To me, there's way too much to do in GT5 to get bored. The only boring thing I have encountered so far is saving up 5 million for a 787b. It's going to take me a fair few weeks. I can't imagine saving up 20 million for one of the insanely expensive cars as it would take me months. Plus I always get distracted with the UCD.

If I feel fed up with racing, a bit of Demons Souls usually reminds me how relaxing GT5 can be.

but when I have uncharted 2 waiting to be played there's not much any game can do :D

Now THAT is a game that exceeded any expectations I've ever had of a videogame. The fun and production values of Uncharted 2 are just through the roof... Kaz take note: that's how you create a compelling game experience!

Agreed, but I doubt Kaz could take anything away from Uncharted 2. Just too drastically different types of games.

True, but what he could still learn from it is that even when you have nice graphics, beautiful locations and character models, it is the actual GAME element and the gradual, but rewarding learning curve (the feeling you're actually mastering something, and working towards a goal) that is essential.

When I was finishing U2 on hard, I had this feeling of achieving something epic. A massive finale. Quite the contrary to the anti-climactic grind that PD forces us into just at the moment we feel we're getting somewhere in GT5.

It took me 1 month to hit 80% in this game. Forza took me nearly a year.

If Best Buy had a single DFGT in all of Michigan (or every other state I checked) I would probably be playing it right now. Instead, I'm crippling limbs in Fallout: New Vegas!

I spend 3 hours+ yesterday, just doing independent time trials in Deep Forest. It was pretty fun. Who knew I could wring a stock 458 to within two seconds of a Castrol Tom's Supra?

Never get bored for me, I'm just an average driver in GT. But i do hope to get all gold, so I slowly working on it. Just gonna take some time, and the sense of achievement from dedication plus the love of collecting car keep motivate me. I sometime at some point where I don't know what to do with GT5, because there are too many thing to do there.

I still have to make my way through the levels and get some premium cars in my garage.

Eventually I'll just race GT5 online-most fun for me (with a good clean bunch of online racers) 👍
