Anyone else feel ripped off?

Indeed, I was coming here to say pretty much the same thing. Just 40 hours so far for me and still lots to do - comparative to what I have paid, that is around £1 per hour.

That is unfortunately a downside here, too many egos and loud opinions around - you get used to it.

A discussion can still be had though, under all of the rest - I'd like to start if possible with the sections from your post which I have highlighted.

It is debateable that GT5 compromised the GT franchise - more than a few here have mentioned that they found no overwhelming issues with that game. I appreciate that others do have a problem, but it is far from a fact that GT5 wasn't up to par. I also appreciate that this would be your opinion, along with the comment that the release was underwhelming. I played that game for most of the intervening time since launch, even completing it a second time after a gamesave corruption, so I feel differently - in my opinion it's a good game and an improvement on GT4.

As to the second point, I'm not sure that GT6 was meant to contain all features from GT5 - so I don't really see why you mention this. The last point though was well documented from before release, that the game would be designed and released with regular updating of the content in mind. I'm not talking purely about DLC here, but patches and new content. This therefore facilitated an earlier release which is pretty damn good as far as I'm concerned because I get to play the game far earlier than waiting until the lot is completed.

These might seem to be insignificant points overall, however, if taken in conjunction with the purpose of the thread, it is important to represent the game GT6 correctly for anyone skimming this for info that'll help them decide one way or the other.

I appreciate your opinion. GT5 was a good game but the point I am trying to illustrate is that it had a great deal more potential that could have been better realized if the following year was used to further deliver new cars and features, but the year was used to include DLC and patches that should have been in the game to begin with. 5 years of development is ludicrous compared to other titles in the same genre. Unfortunately after waiting 5 years for it, IMO the result was underwhelming.

To my second point, GT5 did have some great features, features that I presumed would have been carried over to the next title considering they were well received. I think my comment is very relevant because the evolution of the franchise has included good features carried over to the next title. After the development of GT5 I figured the next title would have included some of the better community features that were ground breaking for an automotive title when initially released in GT5.

Please understand that I don't think GT6 is poor value, it costs the same as any other new release and it ticks all the basic boxes required in a game these days. I also don't think it is a bad game, I play it, I find parts of it I like and it has me at times a bit excited to continue playing it.

I do however see the game as a compromise based on the bugs which are not acceptable, at all! And I think it is a compromise because it is missing key features from the previous title. You can also say the car list is not focused on current, relevant models, so for all of that, it is disappointing. I think it is fair if other consumers question its value.

That is my two cents anyway, if it promotes discussion and people are interested to participate then great. if you agree, thanks, if you don't, no worries, I wont hold it against you.

Only problem is, the way Kaz does GT (IMO from previous evidence) if he's given more time he will add more to the game and request more time for the stuff he's added in that extra time. There was an article about a year after GT5 released where Kaz stated he wanted 2 more years to develop GT5. This was after it already took 5 years to release GT5 after GT4.

It's really a fundamental problem inside PD. The way they develop games now it's either wait forever for a halfway decent title or give them a set release date like Sony did for GT6, and now it's a half completed game with "updates to follow" as an excuse for it not being done on time. They really need to overhaul the development process.

I think that is fair to say. The development cycle is really unacceptable for any title now and there are no tangible reasons for it. I understand the use of DLC to further enhance a title but it should not be part of the development of the game

No, I would rather PD finish the game. They have (arguably) one of the biggest budgets in the video game industry (maybe except for GTA5 from Rockstar) and have had oh about 8 years now since GT4 released. There shouldn't be standards at all. I would rather them not have 12 different versions of Miata's and Skyline's, have a lower overall car count and have them all look the same, instead of charging full price from people to port PS2 car models and call it good.

Also, the way the car looks in replays may be ok but I'd rather have them look good while I'm driving them. I used to drive cockpit view exclusively in PC sims. I drive hood in GT because of the lack of interiors on standard cars, which make up a majority of the cars in GT5/6. Hard to call yourself the "ultimate driving simulator" when you're forced to stare at a dark, null interior on almost all the cars.

You are right in that there are a lot of repeats of cars and the bad standards don't help the overall experience but honestly I'm very happy with GT6. One thing I do find strange is why is the GT40 MK1 race car still standard as the GT40 MK1 is a new premium addition to the game? luckily cockpit views don't bother me, never use that view, I've used the speedometer view since GT1.

Yes, I do feel ripped off, at least with initial content.

I'm assuming the updates PD are known for will deliver on the rest of the content they promised, because as the game is now, right now (v1.02), it feels like most of what's in the game could have simply been added as DLC. Nothing has convinced me otherwise. The biggest changes are the new UI, some new cars and tracks... and we all know that physics can be updated via a patch. I know there are coding changes that have probably improved the game here and there, but even then the framerate is still worse than GT5. I don't see why they would think it was a good idea to increase the resolution if it would cause screen tearing ad nauseam.

And considering everything on my list, which doesn't include all of the small nit-picky bugs, it would seem to me they didn't have very good development oversight.

No I do not feel "ripped off" at all. This is the best console based racing sim there is and over the years I've learned PD's modus operandi when it comes to updating and keeping their i.p. fresh - just look at all of the updates to GT5 when before people were whining and crying over very similar issues. I have no doubt at all that in the coming months, I will grow to love GT6 just as much as I've loved the numerous iterations that have come before it. :gtplanet:

I love taking photo's and I was taking shots the other day from a replay of the historic racing car cup, I zoomed right into the bonnet of the Ferrari P3 or is it P4 I can never remember, anyway I noticed the number 21 on the bonnet was blurred, jagged edges, made sure I hit focus....can't remember seeing this in GT5 and it kind of verified that feeling that the cars in GT6 are like 95% of the fidelity of those of GT5, you know that feeling when first viewing GT6 that something was different but you can't quite put your finger on it. Maybe its just me, maybe its the new rendering engine and lighting....loving the game regardless...

Makes you wonder why they don't have a team just constantly making premium vehicals, it does sting a bit when your forking out over a million credits for a standard, on a positive note, the attention to detail in GT6 is at times extraordinary, just noticed the brake discs glowing on the Aston Vanquish a detail I didn't realise was present on GT6 and its a realistic glow compared to Forza 5 where the discs light up like a flare and also the green dials in the cockpit of the Maclaren F1 on a night race which can be seen from the outside in the replay, its those tiny details which really put a smile on your face.

I do feel ripped off..... why was it released? It's pretty much the same as GT5, but easier.... except when the car suddenly goes into wibbly-wobbly mode for no apparent reason! What's with that???

Yes I too feel ripped off...I enjoyed GT5 toi the fullest and got more than my money's worth.

I am already waiting to see if GT7 for PS4 wou;d build on GT5 rather than follow GT6 which is a total FAIL IMO.

I bought this game because I heard of the awesome new track creator. When I started it up, I couldn't see it anywhere. I thought it was "hidden" until I did a few races, but I then discovered that it was removed, only to be implemented in another update. THOSE JAN. UPDATES BETTER BRING THE TRACK CREATOR!

I'm guessing bug fixes and a new racing suit :D

They told us before release that the course editor would come later in an update...

Definitely feel ripped off. frigging half arsed game with 10 minutes worth career. online can take a flying jump....

Sorry, been pissed off with GT because of 5 and now 6. 4 was great, 5 was complete crap, 6 feels like a kick in the teeth for those of us who don't care about online.

Maybe PD will make a version of GT for PlayStation Now ...

Sony's new game streaming service that can be access by any Internet connected device.

Sorry but i don't see how that would "cure" my hunger for more content...

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record or bitching for bitchings sake, but all i really wanted from GT (aside from more classic cars, especially British classics), is content along the lines of GT4. playing the game to unlock the game, having to race certain races in order to unlock a car so we can then race in even more races is not to much to ask really. just don't see how yet more ways to play even less content satisfies that "hunger".

Not trying to be nasty or sarcastic :)

Thanks :)

Ps, i don't agree with cloud based gaming. if i'm going to pay for the content (i assume it's not free) i want the physical game in my hand.

Beginning to feel ripped off due to a seemingly limitless amount of issues and bad design decisions leading to a less enjoyable online experience.

GT5 was brilliant online and I was sure that PD could at least secure that, possibly even make it better for GT6. Beginning to realize how wrong I was.
I am not as hopeful for updates either because there are more variables stacked against our favour this time too.

Well get use to it because everything entertainment is going cloud based streaming services. Yippie Skippie Doo Dah!

I knew what I got into. I didn't pre-order, instead I bought it around christmas. Some of my friends had it then and I could check the gameplay at their places. I knew alot of people would call it "GT5.5" I also knew it was basically the same game. But I bought it anyway, and do I regret it? No.

I have a better user name for you....Captain_Obvious. no need to thank me :)

To the matter at hand, you like paying things you don't own-more power to you. i like to own the things i pay for.

By own i mean the damned thing i paid for is in my hand.

Do you physically own the Internet, or are you renting a service to access the Internet? Can you physically hold the Internet in you hand? There's no difference between a copy of a game on physical media, or stored somewhere on the Internet on some cloud server located halfway around the world. It's just a bunch of make believe ON and OFF switches that goes into an electronic box that outputs to a pretty picture/sound box that you control with a over glorified vibrating smaller box that has knobs, buttons and switches that you push/twist/fumble for your entertainment.

I dont feel ripped off ,I feel let down .Gran Turismo is the flagship game of Playstation ,This is the exclusive title to Sony the main reason many people buy or bought a playstation over the years

This game used to set the standard not just on playstation but everywhere throughout the industry how far they could push the technology available to them ,showcasing gran turismo and Sony as the best thing to own if youre a gamer

GT6 is a sub standard release its currently unworthy of being on youre system never mind being the flagship of there company

There is no excuse why this game should not have been released as a highly polished playable version straight out of the box when you consider its posistion within Sony itself ,Polophony Digital are bankrolled by Sony with an unlimited budget to produce gran turismo ,instead we get a sub standard game with poor in-game content ,dupiclate coding for cars from GT5 and numerous bugs from minor to barely playable

Also when you consider all of the above ,and how quickly they released patches for GT5 particuarly in the early months of its release and so far in 40 days since GT6 release we have had 3 patches and only one for a minor fix the other 2 for enhancements then perhaps its fair to say its a version they want to forget too

GT6 will probably be enjoyable around about June at their current rate of patches with extra added bonus features as a way of an apology with a nice little DLC package or two

To put it simply its a big **** you from Sony that they are trying to milk the GT brand for everything they can on the old ps3 system before moving on to the ps4

Thankyou for your custom

Don't get me wrong, some of the game is done well. The physics feel really solid despite still having pre-historic setup adjustment options, some of them still believed to be backwards from what they should be and still no tire pressure adjustments. But a lot of the game is unfinished. There are a lot of bugs and glitches (I.E. Aftermarket wheels putting slimmer tires on the rear for cars that have wider rear tires.) I'm constantly being booted out of rooms, a similar issue I had in GT5 despite having done everything I can to amend the issue. I have to make sure that I'm in the main menu for at least 5 seconds before I attempt to quit the game or shut my PS3 of so that I don't get a triple beep and then have to go through a system restore. Surely that can't be good on the PS3.

So far, it feels like I just paid $60 to beta test a major update to GT5. And after GT5's extremely dissapointing launch and empty promises I'm losing more faith in PD.

Edit: I'm including the post I made last night to the OP.

This IP has a LOT of potential. It also is the Best Racing Simulator, for a console OR PC. I know this because it is my job to know this. Now, could there be some stuff done better ? Of course. There is very nearly never anytime nothing can be done better. However, I have to be thankful for what we have so far. Mark my words though, the next Title in this legendary series.. WILL-BE-THE-ONE-WE-HAVE-BEEN-WAITING-FOR, since the original release of Gran Turismo. Until then though we should all do fine with this one.

Driving the game for a week now, being at 62 % game progress. The game is no longer a realistic driving game but just one of many others. There are a couple of new tracks, which makes it challenging again, but overall there are many minor issues. For instance. When driving in a (let's say) 650 PP car,you might get competitive with an Alfa Mito.Nothing wrong with a Mito, and it sure is a nice car,but it isn't equal to a Skyline for isntance. Some other thing. When skidding off track and hit the barrier, you always end up with the front of the car straight angled in a barrier,no matter what steering you do or whatever speed.
For the complete information, some things.Being 42 of age,I'm no longer driving a car in real due to physycal failures of my body.Being younger I had the following licenses : National Karting License.National Rally Licence.National Licence Co-driver Rally,Skid Recovery Licence. And a licence for which I don't know the English name, but it had to do with surviving and getting out of a car being under water.
