Anyone else feel ripped off?

Yes I still feel ripped off and have had GT6 since release!

Why have PD taken away all the best features from GT5?

People say “oh don’t worry we have updates that will improve the game”

My response to that is “B0llocks”

GT5 is now a finished product with some fantastic features! Surely they should have started GT6 from were GT5 left off, then improved upon that! Not start from bloody scratch then add all the content back that we already have in GT5, it just seems such a stupid and daft way to do things! Surely they should have learned from GT5 I mean they had enough time to sort it out!

I appreciate there are some great changes in GT6, but I think they dropped the ball on content for day one release and I think downloadable content is now a way for developers to be lazy. If this game was released back during the PS2 days and there was no DLC, no way would PD have even dared to put this version on the shelf to sell, it’s a joke. /rant over!

You essentially ticked all the boxes. Rant accepted. DLC was never intended to be a dev's safety net if production was lacking. PD however has the fanboys accepting this action and you're right, it is lazy and underwhelming. I really think GT6 is the straw that broke the back for the franchise and if they don't fix it quickly, GT7 will be the last title for the franchise.

At the end of the day this franchise will survive if the numbers make sense. It doesn't matter what the fan boys, the trolls or us say, its all about sales figures and profits. I would like to see the sales numbers for other leading franchises, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Little Big Planet, Grand Theft Auto, Borderlands, etc. I know CoD sold more copies on opening day than some GT titles did period. I would like to see numbers from a reliable source to confirm that.

I would also like to know what the production costs are for each of these GT titles. If the profit margin is not there, Sony will have no choice but to kill the title because they wont make a product for free.

It's actually sad to me. This franchise had so much promise and even though sales numbers were dropping, many of us looked to the next title to be a great evolution of the series. BUT, after GT4, the series stalled, and with GT5 and GT6 it just hasn't got better. It's truly disappointing.

This is exactly my fear. GT6 is already lacking in sales from the poor showing that was GT5. Now GT6 is proving to be worse than GT5. It's going downhill fast for PD.

Even if Gran Turismo doesn't turn a profit for the game development, it sells consoles. People bought PS3's purely for GT5. So, if PD doesn't get things turned around and Sony doesn't see console sales for GT, and GT sales are already suffering, GT will become a franchise that was, sadly.

Let's see, a stale career mode, drifting, and challenges that involve running over cones... hmm, sounds like fun... Do I feel ripped off? Well, I paid $65 for a game that hasn't been finished yet. If somebody doesn't have access to the internet, like my brother, then all they would have is an expensive frisbee. Let's face it, GT6 is a let down.

They released GT6 too early and before christmas, to get all the christmas sales and make big money like all the other developers do (COD,BF,GTA) I would say.

You could call it a "strategic move". For GT5 you had to wait ages but now they are throwing a remake out just to stay in competition or because of the end for the PS3.

If they had released it in lets say early 2014, probably the number of sold copies would be very low because of the newer systems.

So because of the pressure of time they released a GT which will be improved by further updates?

The Menu still looks to me like a building kit. Add here something, add there something. I hope atleast that this will be the case.

The question is: when will they stop doing what they're doing right now and start delivering us a finished product?
And will GT survive next gen should PD keep doing controversial stuff like adding PS2 content on a PS4 software?
Only time will tell (and sales numbers), but things are looking pretty grim right now.

Yes, and that is the reality of business.

What makes GT6 worse than GT5 for you?

Complete-ness of the game at launch, bugs, glitches, etc.

The physics are miles better, however this is overshadowed by the amount of issues with the physics. The rim issue has been corrected, however cars are still doing stoppies, the rear tire issue with pit stops is still present (only on racing tires IIRC).

Online is still horrid, despite having new features that were either broken or still are broken. Pit stops cause lag and connection issues. Cars spinning at high speeds still glitch all over the place which points to a lackluster net code.

Yeah... All that, I could go on but I don't want to type more than I have to from my phone.

In that aspect I would think GT5 wears the crown. Or maybe I'm not remembering correctly since that was a little over 3 years ago.

This is quite the deal breaker for those of us who like long races. :indiff: I too really want that pit stop thing fixed, unless there is some logical reasoning behind it. Oh and who knows about the stoppies, physics gone wrong, eh?

I've seen your input on this part quite a few times, and others with the qualifying especially, and I find it strange as my online experiences have been near perfect. I've had a disconnection hiccup once (multiple times over this one time) but had only lasted less then 10 minutes, and then version 1.03 appeared.

Yeah... All that, I could go on but I don't want to type more than I have to from my phone.

I'd be glad to hear more of your concerns between the two games difficulties once you're on a PC or something.

Feel free to send me FR on PSN 👍

Yes I remember that I have still unfinished races in GT5.....It's not the case in GT6.
And then there'll be those who'll say that new content will be available with time, but the truth is that such content should be there since the beginning. We must take pity on those who lack an internet connection and buy the game, for they'll have an unfinished product for life.

The fact that i was able to complete the game in under a week with all trophies except the Autobahn

A big part of that would be due to the fact in GT5 there were more championships and endurance races. But yeah, quick game, not much fun.

Do you physically own the Internet, or are you renting a service to access the Internet? Can you physically hold the Internet in you hand? There's no difference between a copy of a game on physical media, or stored somewhere on the Internet on some cloud server located halfway around the world. It's just a bunch of make believe ON and OFF switches that goes into an electronic box that outputs to a pretty picture/sound box that you control with a over glorified vibrating smaller box that has knobs, buttons and switches that you push/twist/fumble for your entertainment.

What the internet has to do with owing a game disc is beyond me. i want the game in my hand, end of story. if cloud based gaming does not replace the game disc but is instead made along side the old format, all well and good. but if the day comes when everything exists only in cyberspace, well that will be the day i stop buying games/film discs....

Sorry to hijack the thread....

Have started a new career out of boredom due to lack of content.

i don't feel ripped off, sorry. i knew i was going to get a game that was rushed, and going to be patched like crazy.
at the end of the day, it's a great way to relax. i'll toss a couple of shot back and drive with my g27. there are some issues i have with things that were removed or promised, but at the end of the day it's a game. I have fun running laps at willow springs.
It's just the rhetoric in some of these posts make it sound as if the game and PD raped a loved one in front of your eyes and burnt down your house.
don't like it, there are other games. GT does not have a monopoly on racing sims.
i know what i was getting into, and am having fun with it.
if you think i'm retarded or a fanboy for saying so, i honestly don't give a flying damn.

First, it sounds like you just use GT to unwind rather than actually race. So all the game breaking bugs wouldn't affect you as much as others.

Again with the "don't like it, play other games" excuse. It's not an excuse, it's a cheap cop out to defend what's supposed to be a AAA title. Not the beta we currently have called GT6.

GT currently does have a monopoly on racing sims, for the PS3. Name another sim competitor to GT on Playstation. Exactly. If there was one I would own it.

Wait, so playing it with a different mindset discredits everything i say???
Gamebreaking bugs are the damn game crashing and glitching up, and I haven't had those.
Those issues regarding tires/different car set ups/wonky physics, I'm trying to read up on because I honestly don't know how they feel compared to the game working properly. I know they exist, but since they don't effect me on the level they do you my opinion in invalid????? Great to hear that.

Cheap cop out.
Ok, you want a cheap cop out. that's like me defending the battlefield 4 release fiasco. the game was no where near working online and yet it took days to get that sorted out. Same thing with GTA 5 online, took weeks to fix and that pissed me off.
Jesus ****ing christ, it's just a video game. Now, if it were a piece of productivity software like something from microsoft office and the adobe suite that had no features, then I would be pissed.
The game boots up, the game let's you drive the damn cars, the game lets you play it. You want a true beta, look at games like DAYZ, those are full on betas people are paying for. Where the game is literally being built by trial and error for the audience buying it. If you want to compare that, you're more than welcome to.

There goes that final strawman.
If you really were a sim enthuasist, you'd find the options to play the more legit sims out there.
You'd be in the pc world. As you pointed out, GT does have a monopoly on the PS3 as the so called 'premiere' aaa sim on the platform. but there are other games on the system as well (the codemasters games and other racing games).
We know consoles are not the primary place for hard core sim enthusiasts, why do you think they're all on the pc.
At the end of the day, some people treat it just like a game. something to enjoy for a bit. but mostly people here sound as if they play for hours on end, come to bitch and moan and feel ripped off even thought they have probably put in 60 hours in the bitch already. If you truly hate what you're playing, then why play it? Why come bitch and moan??? ****, just find another game or hobby instead of continuing something that will just anger.

I am actually happy with my GT6 anniversary edition. I have lots of complains and it is not perfect but after playing some 105+hrs I cannot say that for other racing or any other game for that matter. The new tracks are amazing. Gameplay is great, menu, music is damn good. Even cosmetic damage is better. It is a big improvement except the way to earn credits and sound improvement is not good.

Next gen GT will have crazy graphics but I reckon down on content. So will probably have mixed feeling for that. Lets wait and see but GT6 I cannot complain and definitely not ripped off

He is too busy filming movies to care about the product.
Be fair, he had a documentary made about him...otherwise he's not actually involved in it.

Well, again in fairness the rationale was that these features along with others that did make it complete at launch day were being improved - we'll get them when they too are complete.

You essentially ticked all the boxes. Rant accepted. DLC was never intended to be a dev's safety net if production was lacking...
DLC is still for cars and tracks, the updates however will be for the returning features - okay, those patches are likely going to appear at the same time, but I don't think PD are reinventing what DLC means.

Ok dude, since you want to scream and yell and attack me I'm going to pick you apart. Here we go.

First, I never discredited anything you said. YOU personally admitted you use the game to unwind and drive by yourself. Which would lead me to believe you haven't experienced all of the game breaking bugs that plagued online. Just because you haven't experienced them doesn't make them ok, the game does crash, glitch, and even more, causes the system to triple beep and crash.

Second, to your comments about BF4 and GTA5. BF4 took days? GTA5 took weeks? At least both companies took immediate action to remedy the issues, and even publicly stated they were aware and got fixed ASAP. GTA5 even gave ereryone half a million to apologize. GT6 has been out for almost two months. So far we've got nothing from PD acknowledging they're aware of issues and solving them. Instead we get pre-set run around statements that "GT6 is still being updated while GT7 work has started." Add to that we get paid DLC announced instead of focusing on the stuff that matters, and nothing thus far to apologize for the atrocity that has been GT6.

DayZ is an alpha. And guess what, they are upfront that they are an alpha before people even decide to put up money for it, so they know what they're paying for. DayZ was also started by a small company that modded Arma2. A BIT DIFFERENT THAN A WORLD CLASS STUDIO WITH SONY FUNDING.

Lastly, don't you dare 🤬 tell me what I should or shouldn't be putting my money into or playing. I can GUARANTEE you I'm a far bigger sim, car, and racing enthusiast than you. I was raised around cars and racing, and you don't know my financial situation and what I can or can't afford. I used to be in the premier sim racing league for GTR2, rFactor, and did a lot of iRacing until my gaming computer crapped out, and I haven't been able to afford to get back into PC sims since.

If you're ok with GT6 then that's cool for you, but don't come on here throwing around un-backed statements and attacking me when you don't know what's what. I'll also be more than happy to provide evidence for all of my claims if you think I'm blowing smoke.

I dont feel like I got ripped off at all. The game isnt perfect but it never will be. What annoys me most is that for every brand, theres about a dozen of what is basically the same car and theres lots of slow cars that 99% of people are never going to use.
It is what it is though, Id still take GT over almost any other racing sim (unless they decide to bring back Tourist Trophy).

There are quite a few people who do enjoy the non-supercars - I know it can be annoying for some but they do have their fans alright.

I certainly enjoy a lot of non supercars. They can be just as fun and challenging when equipped with the right tires. But I agree about the amount of duplicates in the game. It's just not needed.

Yeah, but they're not every brand as Blakemono suggests ;) I really don't have the time or expertise to try them all out, which is a shame.

I don't feel bad but I will say this...

I have had it since the 3rd of December and not completed it yet, even with it being the shortest GT yet. :(

And to make matters worse, I have been playing other games too instead. :scared:

Oh wow. the hilarity.

I was just saying that gt isn't the only racing game. you have options to play. if me telling you that there are options is me belittling your situation, well that says a lot about you.

1) I haven't had the game freeze on me, I'm aware of the situations. Sucks that it sucks but that's the way it goes. Same stuff happened to games like the last of us.

2)Atrocity. Do you want a gaming atrocity. That's Aliens:colonial marines. Game felt as if it had no effort and was rushed. Had I paid 60 for that, now I would've felt ripped off. Hell, even Duke Nukem was an abortion when it came out. In regards to GTA V, i'm talking about the whole server fiasco. When online went on, I couldn't even get on with it freezing my stuff. I waited and they fixed it. But by that point I had gotten the most of the game, the story was fun and long lasting for me. Online was an extra bonus that had it's issues.
If they are doing tweaks to the engine through updates, well that's going to be a lot of trial and error until you get it right. but the rhetoric you share and others aswell is that the game is an atrocity that isn't playable to your standards.
your standards are completely different than mine. the rhetoric of being ripped off lines up to this anger and hysteria as if you lost money and time for an entertainment product that you agreed to purchase as a consumer of video games. in the end the game works, cars and racing. you can get into races and enjoy the racing aspect. in ignoring the various system glitches depending on system use, well the product delivered works.
Now, will things get patched. of course, it's the norm and it's going to take trial and error. and jesus, the game just came out. of course it's going to take time. gt5 took time and it was expected with 6. regarding all the pr. well that's just pr talk. god knows what's even in the pipeline, or if they're taking time off after a big game release/movie pr campaign.
There is no sense in just playing something for the sakes of playing something that dissapoints you. no one is forcing you to play the game. or you know, if it really angers you, you can probably put it down and come back when you feel they have addressed your concerns.
