Anyone else surprised the BMW E30 is on the top at the feedback section?

It's probably the same reason lots of BMWs got voted highly in Forza 3 Jalopnik contests, lots of BMW club websites get wind of these things and think it's their divine right to vote up the beemers, even if they don't own/play the game.

Not surprised in the least. I have had the good fortune to drive quite a few serious toys (not all mine unfortunately !!) including a 996 Turbo and a race-prepped Viper ACR. None of them compare however to the copious quality time spent with an E30 M3 tearing through the twisties in Niles Canyon, CA. Closest thing to a kart I ever driven on the street. Not massively powerful but phenomenal handling and a wonderful engine note. Just sublime. If the E30 does make it to GT5 I may not see my family (or anyone else for that matter) for quite some time :)

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go daydream for a few hours .....

Yes. Very surprised that it shot up to more than double the votes of the Koenigsegg seemingly overnight.

I quickly found three examples:

Seriously, they're the ones doing it.

Ive never seen anything like this. I literally had a jaw drop. I dont whether know to call this Brand Loyalty or disgusting.

I guess BMW has two slogans-
On the Record- The Ultimate Driving Machine
Off The Record- First the Internet, Then the World!

Like I said, they did it with Forza 3 voting as well. I suppose they're doing nothing wrong but it's just annoying when most of them don't even play the games, they just want their super l33t car to be noticed as much as possible.

I don't care who's voting for the E30. The more votes it gets, the better.
Either way, nobody's stopping other car communites from doing the same. If there is one that is as big, though

No, I'm not surprised with the BMW fanboys from other sites rigging the poll.

I wouldn't mind having the car in the game. I wouldn't drive it very often either. It's a oldie and I'm more interested in state-of-the-art automotive technology *shrug*

I'd much rather see PD add some more recent European cars to the game. A lot of innovation in engine, suspension and drivetrain technology has happened in the past 4 years which would make driving much more interesting. But maybe the car/physics engine wouldn't be able to cope with sophisticated active electronic suspension systems or sequential twin-scroll turbo aspiration?

Anyway, it's clear that the poll has become effectively meaningless now.

👍👍👍👍

Muahhahahahhahahaha! :D

I prefer older cars because they deliver more feel. Whenever I get a recent BMW for a day (when my car's at the garage) I am glad to get mine back in the evening. Less glamour, less electronics BS, less absorbtion from the outside world, less WEIGHT. My car is under 1150 kg and has around 140 hp, an M-Technic suspension, that's all I need. I couldn't care less about the BMW badge … it's all about driving involvement. Or EVOness, if you know what I mean.

I mean, I'd love to have the new 1-series M model in GT5 or IRL, but hey: almost 1600 kg?!
:yuck:

BMWs have always been a true driver's car. I've always read they are much more involving and satisfying to drive than other makes, though I admit never owning one.

And I do not think its fanboys who have voted 4 BMWs in the top 10 of requests in the feedback section. Think it's obvious people who are interested in driving (and not see cars as a transport mean) really like them.

👍
Doesn't matter which era they're from, BMWs always have that special feel to them. Even the rather heavy 1-series hatch feels more dynamic and more, well, connected to the driver than most other cars in its class. That was at least my impression when I drove a friends 130i hatch (had the M Sport Package, though).

And the M3s have been cited to be some of the best handling cars you can get your hands on... Really, there are just a very few cars that I'd probably consider to be just as much of a driver's car as the M3s, especially the older ones.
I'm more of a JDM guy and most of the time, european cars don't tickle my fancy all that much. the M3 though? Yes, please! E30, E36, E46, E92... They're all great in their own right and, if you're asking me, it's a shame that we get four generations of premium GT-Rs, but only one premium M3. Just my opinion, doesn't mean I dislike the Skylines or anything (I'd like to see the Hakosuka and Kenmeri as premiums, too), but, whatever.

I'm not surprised it's in front, but I am a bit surprised how much more votes it has than everything else. It's good to see the CCX in second though. :D

It ran it the DTM of old (the golden years of DTM, I might add) and has that lovely, boxy late 80's, early 90's euro stiyling. Plus, with a bit of proper tuning, it could tear up a lot of tracks (and cars) in the lower HP classes.

The E30 M3 was also part of what I believe to be the 'golden years' of the BTCC during the same period.

No surprise to me really, this car has to be one of BMW's iconic models so was a bit disappointed to see this not feature in GT5.

but, the bmw i would have loved to see the most? the m1 pro car of course

I voted for this car a while back on some thread here somewhere. Would love to see the M1 in GT5 👍

I am very surprised this car didn't make it to the final build. Very great car that was successful in DTM.

The point is this is supposed to be feedback from people playing the game. Hoards of BMW owners who don't even play the game voting their car up just makes a mockery of the poll, since it's not a direct representation of what the people playing the game want.

I'm not saying the BMW isn't popular, but amongst the general game playing public it's obvious it's not THAT much more wanted than supercars. All the kiddies want supercars, not beemers.

Votes for supercars will always be split between the latest models seeing as classics like the F40 and F1 are already in the game.

The E30 M3 is now over two decades old and one of the greatest road and competition cars of all time.

Hoards of BMW owners who don't even play the game

How do you know about these "hoards"? How do you know who's got the game and who doesn't? (I've played & owned GT 1,2,3,4 and 5 (plus GT Concept plus GT4 Prologue) but nowadays I know tons of people like for example my brother who has GT5 and never owned one of the previous series) What you are saying might not be true. Someone who isn't interested in GT5 won't bother to visit a website and cast a vote. These board members are petrolheads, so most of them might have GT5 at home or play it at a friends house. So their opinion seems valid to me, more valid than the supercar-craving kiddies that never even drove a car in real live yet.

I'd rather see someone who doesn't have anything to do with the game voting for the E30 instead of some kiddies (as you put it) getting ZOMG 1200BHP Veyron SS into GT5.

I think it is a flaw that many epic cars arent in game, and still useless redundant cars are in this game.

I'm not saying I want some of those in either and I have nothing against the Beemers, I like them, but what I was saying was car wish lists are usually filled with supercars/exotics when voted by a general demographic. I can't find a wish list here but any wish lists for other racing games like Forza it's filled with requests for Ferrari, Lambos and the like. The general demographic clearly isn't represented here when 4 of the top 10 are BMWs, and one of them more than twice the votes of the next car. It seems pretty obvious BMW fans have infriltrated the vote.

Either way I don't care, and it's not an official thing anyway so there is no guarantee of anything going into the game.

The 'general demographic' is probabl not represented either way. Most people that are spending a lot of time on GTPLanet, are probably a bit more hardcore than your usual casual gamer (which, most likely, make up most of the GT players).

And, looking at, say, the car wishlist for Forza 4 on FM.net, they're more cars along the lines of certain Civics, Silvias, Soarers, Muscle Cars, BMWs and whatnot than exotics or super cars.
Which kinda supports my idea that you don't need help from the BMW community to prevent super cars from being at top of every poll.

I like an M3 as much as the next guy. But people are wanting the 318, 325, all the versions of the E30 3 series cars and i just don't see the point. The E30 M3 80's model and 90's model would be enough.

I agree with you on that point. It's quite ironic that people complain about the amount of Skyline's, but they themselves then start requesting every single variant of 3-Series or Mustang. I think the E30 M3 and E36 M3, maybe one or two 320's, are all that need to be added, 3-Series wise. It's still bizzare that there's no M3 E30 in the game though, considering how iconic it is.

Agreed. One M3 of each generation is sufficient, in my opinion. Maybe add stuff like the E46 CSL or E46 GTR, and that's about it.
The onl exception to this might be the models that have X-Drive as an option for non-M models.
