the last model i built was an exact replica of my dads truck with a clear plastic trailer to hold the custum made (purchased) model of his first midget.

and i now am trying to make the space in my room to ba able to make a 1:12 scale Offy (Offenhouser) Engine. and possibly some muscle, import, and race cars.

Uhm, all those pics are red X's..

Yeah, damn HLJ won't let me link to their pics. I use Testors, Humboldt?, and Tamiya paints but the Testors is the worst of the three. I use it cuz I live in hicksville and the only local craft shop just carries Testors. I'll try to stock up on the others when I have the chance.

My bro & I have been spraypainting the big stuff (body color exterior and trim, flat black cabin and underbody) and then brushing the rest. Turns out OK.

Here's some spraying tips, and here's where I've ordered many of my models from.

I usually just do the 'click together' Bburago 1:24 scale models.

I would love a R32 Skyline GT-R model (preferably 1:24 scale) with a metal body. (which is why i don't buy Tamiya models = plastic)

I buy them fully built, now. :)

Same. I had loads of fun building a Smart car some time ago, but I haven't got the time anymore.

Of course, if I stayed off GTP, I might, but otherwise, no.

Have you used both? Is it that big a difference? Does it paint much more evenly?

Testors Model Master paint is excellent. I use spray paint as much as possible. I don't know if Tamiya makes spray paint.

I've tried making many car models, and ruined every one I made....arrrgghhhh! Well, I have to learn to be patient before that. I always want to get it done fast, and I fail!

My sister once made one of these for me.

Tamiya does make spray paint, I just don't know where to buy it locally. I tried sanding and repainting using some of Tamiya's painting tips and got much better results. 👍

I built a few models, 5 or 6. My favorite is a Corvette c5r, I just love the detial I put in. Maybe I'll post a picture sometime.

I love building models...i havent done one in a while tho :( I wanna do more "imports" like skylines and rx7's and stuff, cuz ive mostly just got american cars, except for an integra type r...my only import...hehe. Ive built a bunch but here are a few of my favorites http://www.pbase.com/idafc21/my_models I apologize for the crappiness of my digital camera...doesnt take very good photos...especially close-ups

anyone help me out, i am looking to get a car transporter model in 1/24 or bigger and muscle cars to go with it.

anyone know a site where i can buy somntin like this for cheap.

Secrets of decal application? Hmm...

I don't know if I have any secrets. After I get the decal in about the right position I use closed scissors to position it. I use a small pair of scissors to cut out the decal then use the same scissors to position it. I use a tiny piece of paper towel to blot up any excess water immediatly after applying the decal. I'll be happy to answer any other questions.

So...care to share with me the secrets of decal application? :D

yeah, what Tank said....except I use an exacto knife to cut and position em..just keep em nice and wet and if you blot em w/ the paper towel be sure not to slide the towel around!! it'll make the decals all wavy and crappy lookin

wow! That's an amazing GT1! I stuffed up my decals...and they're very important because i'm doing a Calsonic Skyline...:irked:

I'm just getting started on this - got myself a spray gun.

First project is an EJ10 Jordan Mugen Honda - just a cheap Revell kit I can stuff up without getting too upset.

Then - I have an old 1989 Ferrari F1 kit - Tamiya - which I found out is quite valuable - and an R32 Group A Skyline - again a Tamiya. I want to build as many F1 cars as I can.

And if you really get into it, there's 1/12 F1 cars you can build. They're probably large and expensive, but extremely detailed.

They would be massive! How much would they happen to cost...

Yeah - I've seen the Williams FW14B (the Mansell active suspension one) - I might do that one once I'm happy with my skills - definitely do the full 'tobacco' kit for that one.
