Anyone interested in a GTPlanet Worldwide Time Attack Challenge Season 4?

Hi All,

I'm still fairly new to GTPlanet and only not too long ago picked up GT PSP. I know there is a weekly TAC but I think the first three season events were quite popular but stopped in early 2010. If I could get at least 20 confirmed racers I will host a season (register interest by posting to this thread and I'll add to a list below).

I don't know whether I'm allowed to host but hopefully a moderator will see this and let me know. I might need a little community help along the way too as this is my first one!

If we can go ahead with it, I will come up with some suggestions for themes for the four weeks racing and manufacturers and put it too a poll. Or if you just want me to pick let me know in your post.

Hopefully GT PSP can still hold enough interest for this event!

Just check out the upcoming combos thread here. Detroitbb and Easyasashii have chosen already a bunch of combos for weeks to come.

I think the requirement to host a TAC challenge is to successfully compete and qualify for at least 1 TAC.

I hosted the rpr101 vs red ice duel right after I qualified for WTAC week 12.

So if I compete in Week 39 on the Nurburgring and qualify I would be able to host this season? I'll definitely check out the combos for the weeks upcoming. Maybe put this Season Event on hold for a little while.

Hi Detroitbb,

I'll try and get a couple of WTACs under my belt first I think. I've only recently completed all 102 golds so trying to buy the correct car on the right day for the events was a challenge! Now I'm competing for S Class it should be much easier, and hopefully will have the GTR V-Spec 09 tonight ready for the 14th.

Thank you for pointing out there was a half season, I may have to rename the event.

Your participation in this event would be appreciated, obviously time permitting! I'll put your name on the list if you're happy?

Do you compete on PS3 GT5 too?

No. My brother-in-law bought the game and I spent a decent amount of time with it. It is an understatement to say that I'm disappointed. There is no way that I'll buy a PS3 & GT5 now. I got a copy of GTR2 for $14.99 and am infinitely more happy - though I still long to take regular production cars into a race (one of Gran Turismo's best features in my opinion). I also would like to use the Photo Mode, but that isn't enough to justify an investment of $350 or more.

I participated in the first TAC seasons but then had to quit for the better part of 2010 because of work and then happily rejoined again in December last year, I was so glad to find WTAC going so strong. I'm definitely inn if your're going to host another one!

Seeing that it's going to be a season I think we should consider using some of the cars that we've already run with already (Detroit, red ice, what do you guys think?).

Maybe we should PM all of the previous competitors?

I only race with the Sixaxis controller at the moment but have contemplated a Logitech G27 and seat for a whe now to enhance the game, but can't justify the cost yet. I still enjoy racing with the pad though!

If you can contact any other racers to raise interest that would be great. Between yourself and the other racera already here, hopefully we can get some more followers!

What is GTR2? Is there a big online community for that too?

A 2006 PC simulation racing title from SimBin Studios ( click here ). It still sells for $60 - $70 USD on ebay for used copies. There are a ton of custom mods (cars, tracks, series, skins, etc) and it still has people creating content for it to this day. It's kind of a legend in the PC sim market (but I'm a newbie to PC games).

It does have online stuff, but I only race offline at the moment. Maybe when I get better I'll be able to race real people, but that's a long way off.
